Europea group’s main restaurant, a gourmet jewel in the Canadian metropolis. Europea opened in 2002, in the heart of downtown Montreal. Voted best restaurant in 2008 and 2010, it has now been chosen as one of the Top 10 restaurants worldwide by Travellers’ Choice Award 2012 by Travel Adviser. Mr Jerome Ferrer, Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux, and Europea restaurant have gained both notoriety and prestige proposing a unique gourmet cuisine of exceptional quality using the best local products.
Reviews of Jérôme Ferrer Europea portray a dramatic, fine dining experience in Montreal where food is presented as art and the ambiance feels refined and welcoming. Echoed throughout is praise for attentive staff, behind the scenes kitchen access, and a tasting format that showcases creative plates and strong use of Quebec ingredients. Standout moments and dishes such as the lobster cappuccino and the Kobe beef are frequently celebrated, and the wine pairings are often praised as well. Yet opinions are mixed on flavor balance and consistency; some meals are described as spectacular and generous, while others are criticized for heaviness, overrich sauces, saltiness, or a lack of cohesion, as well as occasional service gaps or pacing issues. The move to a newer location is noted by some as improving atmosphere, while others feel the service can feel rushed or impersonal on busy nights. Overall the experience is seen as unforgettable and worth trying for a special occasion, with many agreeing that the restaurant earns its reputation, even if the value proposition depends on expectations for theater versus taste.
Overall we had a nice dinner but there were a few things that took away from the experience. We ordered cocktails which took almost 20 minutes to show up. As soon as we got the drinks they started bringing out the food, but sitting there waiting for that long at the beginning of the meal was disappointing. All of the dishes were good/great with a few standouts (lobster cappuccino) but it is simply too much food for anyone to finish. By the time'pre-dessert' came my fiancée & I were absolutely stuffed. A lot of the tables around us were wrapping up their desserts to go but we felt the desserts wouldnt taste as good later. Not sure I'd recommend this place.

My boyfriend & I recently celebrated our 2-year anniversary at Jerome Ferrer, & it was an unforgettable experience. Everything was great, & the service was impeccable. We've tried many restaurants in Montreal, but this is the first one we truly loved.
We opted for the tasting menu at $90 per person, which was their first night offering a 17-course service. The servers were still getting accustomed to the new menu, but they handled everything with perfection. The only downside was the large portion sizes; I was already full after the starters.
Fortunately, we were able to take home everything we couldn't finish. However, they forgot to include the desserts, which were two pear tarts, if I'm not mistaken. Despite this minor hiccup, the overall experience was exceptional.
With two champagne glasses & four wines, the total bill, including tax & tips, was around $430.I highly recommend!
My wife & I wanted to try this for years & finally were able to find a free night & a babysitter on a Friday last summer. We were somehow disappointed. The service was impeccable, the location & atmosphere were fantastic but... the food was hit or miss. There are lots of small appetizers & dishes, varying from exceptional to average. Don't remember all of them, but we were especially not impressed by the foie gras (which my wife & I are big fans of). There was a strange bitterness to it. I'm not an expert, but I remember from my days living in South West France that it could indicate that it was improperly cut. Also the portions were very small. A lot of effort went into presentation, but when all you have on your plate are miniscule spots of mousse which barely exceed 2 millimeters height, it becomes a bit ridiculous. What wasn't miniscule was the bill though, which was close to 800$ for two people if I remember correctly. & we only took the minimum recommended wine services (3 glasses if I recall), without the champagne option. I'm sad to say, but it wasn't worth that price at all. There are restaurants in Montreal & Quebec City where you eat like a prince (& princess) for less than half this price.

Reliably excellent food & setting, & superb service. High-end but playful. Recommend 9 course over 11 course options, & ignore the bread (no matter how delicious); otherwise by the seventh course you'll be listlessly poking your food. The only course I've had twice now that I'm not a fan of, is seal meat.
Quel expérience ! La nourriture est excellente & les saveurs sont recherchées.. chaques éléments se marient a la perfection, le service est impeccable, ambiance décontractée. Je recommande !
One of the top rated French restaurants in Montreal. Lunch is more affordable than dinner, yet you can still enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. Highly recommended.
This was a culinary experience not to be missed! Definitely do the full tasting menu here, takes about 3 hrs total tho, so plan ahead. Don't want to ruin the surprise so here are only some of the pics. Highly recommended. If you want more than just another dinner outing, then come here for lots of surprises & table side shows etc. Best fine dining meal in Montreal imo
We were visiting Montreal for the first time & we were excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. When you dine at a restaurant of this caliber you expect to be taken on a culinary journey. Well our tour guide clearly called out sick on the day we dined. No one told us about what we were about to experience & food started to arrive at our table before we even made a decision about our menu option or wine pairing. I will say the restaurant is beautiful. We eventually decided on the 11 course tasting menu. The food overall was good not great. I would say a third of the courses were a miss on taste. The service was also very disappointing. The servers were not very attentive. They would bring out a new dish without removing the last one & we had to ask to have empty plates & glasses removed more than once. I would not recommend this restaurant.
