Reviews for Jack le Coq paint a picture of a place with excellent chicken that is juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, with tasty tenders and satisfying sauces and a retro vibe, yet the experience is uneven due to long wait times, slow or inconsistent service, and cleanliness issues at tables and in the washrooms, while prices are sometimes seen as steep; some diners praise friendly staff and quick service when it works, and many say they would return for the food, but the overall impression is that improvements in service and hygiene are needed to match the quality of the chicken.

I loved the experience & the food is delicious. The employee Rhodina was exceptionally nice greeted me with a great smile & very helpful with the menu. I loved her service & food was better than I expected. Chicken was crunchy the burger was tasty & even their simple fries was fun & enjoyable. The portions are good unlike other fried chicken places & so was the gravy very light & not too salty like others. Highly recommend as the place is huge with big tables for big families & really cool atmosphere. Again staff like Rhodina makes you feel welcome & pleased to come back again.
We tried their fried chicken & fries. The breading was crunchy, but the chicken itself was dense & lacked enough flavor to make me want another piece. The fries were tasty, especially with the light & peppery gravy that goes with the fried chicken. The diner's interior has a cool, retro style. Overall, it was a good experience.
Went in for the St. Jean Special. Came out satisfied with my choices. I typically do not eat fried food, but this was great & was not fried in bad old oil like some places. With a retro inspired modern taste dinner look, this place reminds me of my childhood experience visiting certain chains which have now lost their charm. Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere/ Vibe: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Will definitely return for some quick bites.
Fried chicken Is ok, a bit dry. Cleanliness of the place was horrible tho & I'm not talking about the kitchen. The dining area was a bit dirty but the washroom... Worth a try for the food but do a take out.

Food ordered: Honey chicken combo, with 2 red tenders & gravy on the side. Review: Place has a funky style, staff friendly. But I care about the food. The fries? Bad. Tiny, cold, slightly overdone. Tenders? Bad, under seasoned, not spicy. Dryyyyyyy as the dessert. Gravy? Didn't go with the fries or the tenders. It's decent gravy. But doesn't match the flavour of the other menu items. Sandwich was probably the best hot honey sandwich I've had. Like. It was so weird having such garbage sides & then an amazing main. The quebec style coleslaw was perfect, lots of pickles, good hot honey & the chicken was tender & had some moisture. It honestly carried the visit for me. I'd probably go back for just the sandwich next time.
So aesthetically pleasing inside this place! The decorations took me as soon as we entered, it was so cute. I'm always looking for a good fried chicken & this place did NOT disappoint. The chicken is crispy with a good crunch once you hit into it the breading is flavourful but not overpowering & the chicken is cooked to perfection not dry actually pretty moist. I got the Jaq Fromage which the rest of the sandwich was just ok nothing crazy special. It came with (McCain) fries & a small drink. If you go there for the chicken alone you won't be disappointed
Popped in here for lunch right at opening time. Delicious food, friendly owner, & generous portions for main chicken meals. My mom had the wrap, which was enormous.
I finally tried Jack Le Coq fried chicken. The chicken itself is brined giving it flavour & "juiciness", however the batter leaves a lot to be desired. The batter itself is unseasoned & too thick. It is a wet batter so if applied too thick it just makes a doughy crust with a slime layer between it & the chicken.
The pieces themselves are very strange. I don't know who's cutting these pieces or if they just buy pre-cut chicken pieces. I bought an 8-piece & I had two tails & a neck?! I find that very odd & frankly, lazy. I have photos, but it seems I cannot post them here. For the price you pay, you should expect them to be a little more discerning about what they feed you.
Lastly, there were only 2 customers there on a Saturday at 11:45am, yet the bathrooms were dirty & smelled awful. I opened the door & just backed out of there.
One & done for this diner, sorry.
2-stars because the Franchise Business plan & branding were on-point. Unfortunately their product is more the branding rather than the chicken. Nice boxes.
