Ichigo Ichie Izakaya is one of the best isakayas of Montreal, but they should be careful with who they put at the entrance: last time I was there, there was a young white lady who was the hostess at the entrance & she was creepy...she would look at you & welcome you if you are a good looking tall male & completely ignore other clients: I am not jealous & that is perfectly fine in general life & at a low-end eatery or a tavern, but that is not what should be expected as the hostess at a restaurant of the ilk of Ichigo Ichie Izakaya.

We had such a great experience at Ichigo on Friday night! The service, the drinks & the food were all fantastic. Every dish was incredible, but our particular favourites were the Yakisoba noodles & the Yuzu tuna. Definitely recommend for a great Izakaya spot in Montreal.

La réputation de cet izakaya n'est plus à faire, & il était grandement temps de l'essayer. Nous avons partagé 6 plats pour 2 personnes (quantité pas mal idéale), & seulement deux d'entre eux étaient des coups de coeur. Très bons cocktails. Tout était bon, sans toutefois surpasser les attentes, mais c'est peut-être là que ça devient difficile d'avoir une réputation si élevée justement. Tout de même, la qualité & les saveurs étaient présentes & ça demeure un bon endroit si on cherche une valeur sûre en termes d'izakaya.

Well known local establishments like Ichigo Ichie can sometimes be disappointing but not in this case!
We sat upstairs above the main ramen floor (note that they are different restos with different menus). The basement is a speakeasy, main floor is ramen & top is this izakaya.
The food is phenomenal, with each plate having a unique taste & harmony of flavours.
The service was speedy, polite & we thoroughly enjoyed the quality.
The atmosphere is casual & relaxed but still chic. A perfect date spot for a couple in my opinion.

Amazing service! The food was spectacular. I took my mom to Montreal for her first time & this was our last meal. Also her first izakaya. They treated her with such kindness & she was so happy. I was in Japan for a few weeks not long ago & this is quality here. Busy, & it's no wonder why. Ten/ten recommend.

Une vraie claque gustative chez Ichigo Ichie Izakaya ! Chaque plat était une explosion de saveurs, avec une mention spéciale pour le Shime Saba : moi qui d'habitude n'aime pas le maquereau, j'ai été totalement bluffée par la tendreté de la chair, le grillé de la peau & l'équilibre parfait apporté par l'acidité de la sauce. Un vrai moment umami !
Le Kamo Yaki (spécial hiver) était une tuerie absolue : une cuisson parfaite, des tranches rosées à souhait, accompagnées de chips de lotus croustillantes & savoureuses.
On a poursuivi avec le Yakiniku épicé, un contre-filet de boeuf à griller soi-même, recommandé 15 secondes de chaque côté : un pur bonheur à tremper dans le sel, les épices ou la sauce maison.
Les Udon Carbonara ? Crémeux, réconfortants, oeuf coulant au centre… j'ai fait un'yumm' à chaque bouchée, littéralement !
& pour couronner le tout : un Tiramisu Matcha aérien, intense en goût, tout en légèreté.
Le service a été irréprochable : la serveuse était adorable, attentionnée & de très bon conseil tout au long du repas. On reviendra avec grand plaisir pour découvrir la carte du printemps. Un sans faute du début à la fin !

J'adore. Difficile de trouver une chose a reprocher a cet izakaya. J'étais sans doute le plus vieux dans la salle, mais je n'hésiterai absolument pas a y retourner. Tout est parfaitement execute & raffine. Absolument génial, meilleur Izakaya de Montréal.

Excellent resto. Nous y sommes allés pour la bouffe izakaya. Le tartare de saumon, les takoyakis, les légumes & crevettes tempura ainsi que les calmars grillés étaient excellents! Beau décor, sympathique ambiance & bon service! Reservation recommandée. Resto très populaire.

Fantastic Experience at Ichigo Ichie Izakaya! I had the pleasure of dining at Ichigo Ichie Izakaya, & it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm & inviting atmosphere set the stage for what turned out to be an exceptional evening. Our server, Cathy, was simply amazing. She was attentive, friendly, & went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Cathy's recommendations were spot on, & her genuine enthusiasm for the food made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was nothing short of delicious. Every dish was bursting with flavor, & the presentation was beautiful. It's clear that Ichigo Ichie Izakaya takes great pride in both the quality & creativity of their menu. To top it all off, we were surprised with shooters that added a fun & memorable touch to our meal. It was the perfect way to end an already wonderful dining experience. Thank you, Cathy, & the entire team at Ichigo Ichie Izakaya for a fantastic night. We can't wait to come back!

Ce restaurant est sublime à tout point de vue ! De l'ambiance calme au service attentif & courtois en passant par les plats ! Que dire des plats ? Ils sont tous très recherchés, on y retrouve une finesse & un équilibre en bouche qui nous font comprendre ce que le chef à voulu faire. Les ingrédients sont frais & de qualité. Les portions sont généreuses sans outrance. J'ai commandé 2 entrées & un plat principal ainsi que deux desserts, je n'avais plus faim à la fin mais je n'ai pas eu de mal à les finir. Il faut garder à l'esprit que pour la partie izakaya, il faudra commander plusieurs petits plats, idéal à partager en groupe pour goûter à tout. Le tartare de pieuvre seul est difficile à manger car il n'y a pas beaucoup accompagnement, mais avec le calamar grillé, quel délice ! Nous y avons fêter un anniversaire & les serveurs ont pu nous apportez une petite bougie. Parfait pour une fête comme pour n'importe quelle occasion où l'on veux bien manger!

So delicious! I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday & eat some izakaya. We had an amazing time! We ordered the tuna tataki, & beef with fermented cabbage. We also got these delicious evil bao buns (one of their spring specials) & takoyaki. The cocktails are delicious too! Overall a fantastic experience I will definitely be back!

I recently visited this Izakaya & was pleasantly surprised by the noise level, which wasn't as bad as I expected based on other reviews. The food was excellent, especially the tuna tataki & grilled gindara. The wait staff were friendly & professional. One drawback was that if you reserve a table, you can't order ramen from the adjacent ramen restaurant. However, since we've tried their ramen before & enjoyed it, this wasn't an issue for us. Overall, we had a great meal from the Izakaya menu & left satisfied.

Low key some of the best ramen in Montreal, this place is constantly busy for a good reason. Great service, crazy good Atmosphere & the bar + restaurant areas are pretty cool, definitely gives an izakaya vibe. Everything here is fantastic too, whole menu doesn't disappoint.

By far my absolute favourite Ramen in the city! Their broths are so flavourful & their ramen always hits the spot. I prefer going to Ichigo Ichie, cause it's more of an izakaya. Their cocktails are great, the atmosphere is warm & their have great food in addition to the ramen. Their takoyaki is a right side dish with the ramen & so is the yuzu tuna tataki, the tataki has the right amount of zest & a great bite it, since they don't slice it too thing . Also, I highly recommend the black cod, it just melts in your mouth. If you have a sweet tooth, their black sesame Tiramisu is out of this world. The only drawback is that they don't take reservations & there is always a wait, but definitely worth the wait!

The food was great, but it is quite annoying that we couldn't order off the ramen menu just because we reserved. Maybe it makes sense for later reservations, but we reserved for 18:00, & when I got there the place was practically empty. If I had just walked in off the street we would have been good to go, but because I reserved we were restricted to the Izakaya menu, which to be fair was excellent anyway so can't really complain. I'd recommend not bothering with reservations unless you know you plan to go at a busy time.

A lot to say about this place. Overall, great place to come back to. They separated the ramen & izakaya area, so the reservation only get you the izakaya menu & ramen is on a first come first serve base. As other comments noted, place is really crowded, you hit another table within your arm's reach. Seat is not comfortable at all. Service was just so so. Not very attentive. Had to stop a server to get more water. Waited more than 10min for the bill. Now I understand they are busy, & the limited space doesn't really allow for more servers on the floor. Maybe don't make it so crowded... Food is bipolar. Their regular menu is great. I had the gyu tartare, cod, & fried ramen from their regular menu & they are above standard. Fresh, flavourful, & decent portions. I got the fried pork from their seasonal (winter) menu & it was meh. Proportion of the meat is off, too much fat, salty. Vegetables aren't enough to offset the grease from pork fat. Not an enjoyable dish to have. Cocktail I got the peach one & like it.

Such kind, caring service! We were in town celebrating a birthday & the team at Ichigo Ichie Izakaya made it so wonderful. Additionally our server took such good care of us about an allergy & made us feel super safe.
