Service was friendly & professional. Our table was tiny though. Hate when restaurants try to cram tiny two person tables into the middle section so everyone's constantly walking around you & your table all the time. Not a good seating experience. Especially when you want to try several different dishes & have no space on the table.
Great isakaya to go & share food with friends! The resto was packed! The waitress recommended top dishes to share & we ordered 8 for 4 people. Was perfect, not overly full! The buns were big with juicy meat, squid, carbonara udon, tuna tataki, salmon, beef slices...
Fancy Japanese restaurant! The dishes were amazing especially the tofu one, it was melting while offering a lot of flavour.
My wife chose this place knowing that I would love the menu. The food was very good. We had 5 different dishes & they were all very good. But the service was terrible. We were sat on time for our reservation but other than having waters dropped at the table we waited & waited for service, after 25 minutes with no one coming to the table I had to get up to ask for service. Sitting there I could that service was chaotic…you couldn't tell who was your server…we could see tables sat after us getting served. After getting service we got our first food item before we got drinks, it was 40 minutes from when we sat that we got our drinks. It was pretty much a struggle to get service all evening. So service was an epic fail & forget about hospitality, there is no connection with the restaurant or a welcoming atmosphere.
Their famous ramen is very good, but this restaurant also has amazing side dishes. I had one of the best takoyakis in town. Their karaage is also worth trying. On the other hand, the space isn't too large, & it is usually pretty crowded inside.
Food was great, the service was wonderful, the food suggestions were on point. Quite noisy, but it is a sign that the restaurant is well known & appreciated. I highly recommend the black cod, the octopus beignets & the beef or tuna tatakis. The noodle dishes are really yummy too.
An elevated dining experience of small plates & cocktails done exceptionally well in a comfortable & casual setting. The food delivers more than anticipated, some dishes with a range of texture & flavor & others with a simplicity that complements the purity of the ingredients. The plates, albeit small, demand to be shared when in the presence of good company. The daikon salad was bright & umami. The karaage was crispy & the inside juicy. The grilled squid was perfectly cooked & smoky. The fuji miso pork shoulder was juicy & deeply rich, perhaps so much so as to needing a fresh & zingy element to balance the richness. My highlight of the meal was the age nasu eggplant, a dish so hidden in the menu that I almost missed it. The staff is very welcoming & accommodating. They are knowledgeable on the menu & will not hesitate to take a moment to address any questions or concerns. Overall, I had a great experience with Ichigo Ichie. The food may be expensive for some, but it is worth saving up for. Plan night out with a date or with some friends, & consider ordering a range of small plates to share so you may taste all that this restaurant has to offer.
The black cod may have been the single best piece of fish I've ever put in my mouth. All the dishes were interesting & it was nice to have part of the menu be seasonal
Went for an event with 40 people. Food was excellent. Enjoyed getting to try so many different dishes.
I often pass by here & see a lot of people waiting for a table, so I guess it might be a good restaurant. The restaurant was noisy, seats were a bit crowded & there were a lot of people. We ordered 4 dishes, all of them looked beautiful, Yatai Ika & salmon tartare were good, but the others were not perfect, the Katsu Roru was too salty, & the udon was not what I wanted. After this meal, I always feel thirsty.
Amazing quality of food. We were impressed by all of the dishes, appetizers to dessert ! Note, reserve if you are able to, it makes it so much easier. Drinks were out of this word also, special mention to the Nashi & Akuma 🫶
Too expensive for what it is. Portions are tiny. Hot Sake is value for money. If I was you I would just go next door to the ramen place. Ramen over there is a lot better than the food served in here. I just had 5 dishes & I'm still hungry. Might have to get a McFlurry from McDonald's next door.
Ask for Julie you won't regret it! Make sure to get some sake & the house recommended dishes. 10/10
We sat down & when we ordered all of our dishes came at the same time & within 5 minutes after ordering. Clearly the food couldn't have been made in that time, there was no journey or experience for the meal, & it was obviously all pre-prepared & it meant we were finished with our meal within 30 minutes. It took away from the experience & felt like they just wanted to get people in & out.
If you love ramen here is the place . I've had the best ramen of my whole life here. They have a special ramen menu in which you can make your own ramen with the broth & protein & vegetables you like , I love this kind of flexibility . Also, they have nice side dishes & a tapas menue . The chicken Karagge is a must to try ! Also, drinks are so cool. You should try their shots 🤩. Staff are very nice & friendly.
We were there for the MTL à table menu. My partner chose the fish/meat menu options, I chose the vegetarian dishes from the menu. My partners dinner experience was (besides some lack in good service) very good, & my vegetarian dishes were not bad either, but the menu price of $58 was not appropriate at all. If the vegetarian menu option would have been between $10-20 less than the meat/fish menu, it would have been more adequate for the complexity & quality of the dish, since the first course, for example, consisted only of a few slices of vegetables in tempura while the meat option included beef carpaccio, fresh arugula & many other high quality ingredients. The tempura tasted good, but should not be sold at the same price as a high quality beef carpaccio dish. However, the restaurant ambience was very pleasant & interesting.
Japanese izakaya dishes with wafu inspired nuanced & delicate flavours. I'd recommend staying with the more traditional Japanese dishes as some of the fusion dishes don't always live up to their menu description. One of my go to restaurants in Montreal.
The food was so good, I wish I had a bigger appetite to order more dishes
Best Asian-inspired meal I've ever had. Great music & atmosphere. Young funky crowd. Worn minimalist wooden furniture in a dark, casual space. Fun, innovative cocktails. Amazing Asian dishes served tapas style, each with a creative, surprising spin. We loved the ichigo tonic cocktail & ichigo IPA, a deep-fried eggplant dish, the udon noodles with mushrooms, the black cod, & especially the hamachi sashimi. Service was superb — friendly, knowledgeable, & efficient. Even the desserts were great — tiramisu matcha & a donut dish. Highly recommend this restaurant.
An excellent take on an Izakaya with a number of fusion dishes. The radish salad & marinated mackeral are to die for, not to mention the grilled squid. Being half Japanese & having lived in Japan for many years, I'd recommend this restaurant highly.
