Greenspot se présente comme un bistrot montréalais par excellence, reconnu pour ses sandwichs smoked meat et sa poutine légendaire, des portions généreuses, un service rapide et sympathique et une ambiance rétro qui donne l'impression d'etre chez soi, avec des prix raisonnables et une cuisine réconfortante; bien que quelques critiques portent sur la constance de la poutine ou sur le service, l'impression générale est celle d'une institution où l'on revient pour une expérience simple et authentique.
You will never be disappointed when you drop in here for a bite to eat. There's a reason they have been open for so many years & are still always packing people in. Had a lasagne today & it was excellent as usual, it was also huge. Well worth the visit. 😃
Une institution peut-être mais la poutine n'est pas bonne. Sèche & pas très savoureuse, juste le fromage est frais. Ça fait plusieurs fois que je donne une chance, chaque fois je me dis que ce sera la dernière...

I have been here many times & always get great service & good food. The atmosphere is the best version of a classic diner. The prices continue to be great value, despite everything. It can't be easy to maintain such consistency over so many decades & somehow, Greenspot is always a pleasure to visit.
Always enjoy going for a good meal here. A great place if you're hungry & looking for comfort. Everything is always very satisfying! (This time I just got a slice of cake, but I enjoy the savoury food too haha.)
My wife & I stopped by on a Monday a few minutes before 11:00 & just missed the breakfast menu that ended at 11:00.
Missing the breakfast menu my wife still ordered an Omlete that even from my side of the table looked very underwelming, as she dug in she lost her appetite & only ate less that 1/2 of her omlette simply because it tasted less than ordinary. Her plate came with french fries that were barely warm to the touch.
I on the other hand indulged on a 10' steak & smoked meat sub. Unfortunately there was so much oily dressing thats all I tasted, no taste to the steak & absolutely no taste to what little smoked meat was in my sandwich. It was so bad it was necessary to disect my sandwich & remove the top 1/2 of the bread wich was drenched in oil. I also ordered a side of french fries & simular to my wifes fries mine were also just warm to the touch.
On a brighter note our waitress was very nice & eagarly topped up our coffee's, her colleque host was also very friendly.
Unfortunately I dont know how this establishment has recieved so many positive recommendations, we will not be back!
& honestly, the overhaul condition & appearance of this place is old & has charm, however it doesnt mean the restaurant has to appear dirty, take a look at the filth of those old music selectors at each booth.
Other than staff, this place needs an overhaul!

Greenspot is the purest definition of Casse-Croute. This place has been in existence since 1947 & I don't see it slowing down one bit. It's ultimate comfort food & you won't leave disappointed. Greenspot is a Montreal institution & I hope it's around for my little guy to enjoy as much as I did.
Today 03 May at 10:40am I am sitting at the table waiting for 15-20 minutes want waitress to serve me. They ignored me. They are passing look like i am invisible. They have served someone came behind me. Finally I decided to leave. Hope to receive an apology then I will modify the review.
After the review the waitress has notice. The next day the service perfectly good service. I come back almost 2-3 times weekly

My beautiful cousins took me to taste the foods of Montreal The Gyro was really good best I had in a long time my husband had putain which was good too, parking isn't that great & the menu is in French, but when in Rome right, had a great time
Nous n'avons pas attendu malgré l'achalandage. Les assiettes sont arrivées très vite. Notre serveur avait l'air débordé, car nous n'avons pas eu de refill de café & nous avons essayé de l'intercepter à plusieurs reprises sans succès. J'adore le côté vintage. Très bon qualité-prix.

Precambrian poutine. I've lived in Montreal long enough to be misty over several now-long-gone places. So it's hard to be critical of a place that has weathered all of the changes & still feels like it's 1990. Unapologetic, unhealthy, unpretentious, ... &, appreciated for staying true to a working recipe. Carlos& Pepe's comes to mind as an example of a formerly perfect Montreal grub stop that tried to reinvent itself with catastrophic results. Green spot didn't try, & plows ahead, a living fossil in a sea of poke bowls & boba tea. Never change, Green spot!
En général, la nourriture est bonne mais je dois être l'une des seules qui n'aime pas leur poutine. Les fois que j'ai commandé, il n'y avait pratiquement aucune sauce. Les frites étaient sèches. Seules 9-10 frites avaient de la sauce. C'est dommage. J'ai mangé le fromage & jeté le reste.
Absolute gem of a place, makes you feel like you've gone back in time. This is a classic diner with quick & excellent service. The smoked meat was fantastic & the overall experience was wonderful.
