I would say that it's a local classic for Poutine, it's a must try if you're here for the authentic Montreal experience. Most of my experiences have been great, if you're getting the poutine trust me you only need a small unless you're trying to feed a family or a small dinosaur. Also, some great Italian & Greek items on the menu..
Love the ambience. Think of it as 50s family-style diner. My friends love eating here & it was my first time coming here. Prices are reasonable & portion wise, pretty good. The chop-chop poutine wasn't too salty & the smoked meat was good. Carrot cake isn't too sweet, moist, but for those who are allergic to nuts, beware as they have walnuts!
What I ordered was small chop-chop poutine ($12.75 CAD approx) + carrot cake ($6.75 CAD approx) + coke ($3.75 CAD approx).
Highly recommend RSVP in advanced if coming in a bigger group, but recommend this place for family-style brunches & diners.
Truly fantastic old school spot. Perfect. Poutine, pizzaghetti, & coconut pie were all fantastic. Go habs!
Came for the poutine. It was good. The cheese really stood out.
Ive had better poutines ive had worst. Its right in the middle
This is my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The best poutine in the city! Lovely atmosphere, affordable, generous hours, & truly the whole menu is wonderful! I also recommend the pizzaghetti!! Love you Greenspot!!!
Historic & charming diner with your typical fare: poutines (a whole menu of different ones), burgers, souvlaki, pizza, etc. Service is always great!
Precambrian poutine. I've lived in Montreal long enough to be misty over several now-long-gone places. So it's hard to be critical of a place that has weathered all of the changes & still feels like it's 1990. Unapologetic, unhealthy, unpretentious, ... &, appreciated for staying true to a working recipe. Carlos& Pepe's comes to mind as an example of a formerly perfect Montreal grub stop that tried to reinvent itself with catastrophic results. Green spot didn't try, & plows ahead, a living fossil in a sea of poke bowls & boba tea. Never change, Green spot!
As a longtime Southwest resident, this has to be one of the best restaurants in the area. It may not be'trendy/instagrammable' (to be fair, it's an old school style of restaurant) but you can always count on Green Spot to get something comforting & fufilling at a decent price.
Their poutine is great. & I highly recommend their'Special hotdog' (Fries inside the hotdog)
An absolute staple for classic Montreal fare! This old-fashioned diner has been serving authentic eats for decades; just stepping inside the restaurant transports you to a far simpler world.
We got the classic smoked meat sandwiches & the poutine. The soft bread is loaded to the brim with super tender & flavorful smoked meat & accompanied by tangy mustard. If you're visiting Montreal for the first time, smoked meat is definitely a must-try food, & Greenspot did it justice. Their famous poutine was fun & tasty as well. We got the small size, which was still plenty to share between two people. Despite being drenched in the hearty gravy, the thick-cut fries remained very crispy. The cheese curds had the right amount of'squeakiness' every Canadian is looking for & made for a delightful eating experience. You can't go to Quebec & not try poutine. The combination of fries, gravy, & cheese seems simple yet is surprisingly layered with the contrasting textures.
Greenspot is the spot for an unassuming, undeniably wonderful meal!
good old comfort food since the 70s.
I like their poutines, & hot dogs are excellent as well !
I only had a few bites of my poutine as the fries were horrible, undercooked & possibly old. None of the waitresses, despite seeing my almost untouched plate, even bothered to ask for feedback. Sadly, this is a dying institution.
Good authentic diner wither simple diner vibes, laidback, don't expect anything fancy (don't come up with intolerances but there are options for all) but real & genuine people coming in & out for the simple food, not the place to chill for hours. Service is fast & the food is good. I prefer breakfasts in general but they do have a mean poutine that will scare away a 5 days old hangover & smoked meet is good.
Service here is always great, waitresses/waiters are very nice. Their poutine & hot subs are really good.
