It's a cute diner inside that has done well in keeping it's classic aesthetic in good condition. A must go place for poutine-lovers. True classic Quebec cuisine.
I've been here multiple times for breakfast, brunch, dinner, & of course their amazing poutines. Greenspot is definitely my go-to neighborhood diner.
The prices are fair, the portions are big, & the food always tastes fresh. You always leave satisfied. I've tried several of their poutines & they all slap. The hot dogs are also crazy good.
The staff are always nice & friendly too. Even on busy weekend mornings when the place is packed, they still make an effort to serve you with a smile & bring you what you need as quickly as possible.
If you're looking for a bite in the area, Greenspot is always a consistent & safe choice. Lovely place!
Food was pretty media core. Got the sirloin steak in medium well fit it well well done. Couldn't enjoy it was so white & stiff. Note sure how this place has a 4.4 rating.
So let me begin by saying I've eaten there frequently & usually the food is good to very good. It's typical Quebec diner food with the usual traditional diner atmosphere & decor & the food is usually a consistent good tasting what you'd expect from a Quebec diner.
Today however, notwithstanding the food, we saw the restaurant was fairly busy, but the experience started off bad from the moment we walked in the door & stood waiting to be seated. One of the'partner owners' George, who usually seats the customer was on his cell phone talking next to the cash, while waiting it was easy to determine it was a personal call (which is fine depending on the situation, stuff happens in life), but he was slow to even acknowledge our presence. But hey, it's Sunday morning we'll wait. He tells us it won't be long (but hardly in a polite manner tbh) again I just dismiss it. He completes his call & instead of seating us (& btw there are now several other patrons waiting behind us to also be seated), he thinks it best to lace into a female employee in front of everyone, berating her & telling her'He's had enough of this from her, next time don't bother coming in….'. George should learn there is a place & time to address staffing issues & certainly they shouldn't be done in front of customers. But George makes it worse later on for us. We get seated with our menus & we wait for the waitress, now remember it's busy, & possibly understaffed. Our waitress doesn't acknowledge our presence despite being at the table next to us 3 times. We wait what we think is 15minutes plus & even notice another table behind & across from us trying to get the waitresses attention & they can't. We still haven't ordered, so I get up & go to our waitress & ask her to please & come take our order & that another table has been trying effortlessly to flag her down. She barely acknowledges me, she eventually comes & apologies & takes our order.
& here is where George makes everything worse & the whole dining experience is ruined. I wave for George to come over & I can tell he's annoyed I'm doing so, he comes & I explain the wait time & difficulty in getting my waitresses attention as well as the other table trying to get her attention. Poor George can't fixate on good customer service or my comment as trying to be constructive to help, no George needs to argue that it can't be 15 minutes we've been waiting to order more closer to 10 & the other table, well I should mind my own business & be more concerned about me. Ok George, I am more concerned about me… you feel compelled to discuss the 10 minutes vs 15 minute wait time because George has to be right, I let George have his 5 minutes difference because it's irrelevant now, it's about you George & the way you talk to staff & clients & how petty you are & more focused on trying to ensure you're right & the customer is wrong.
One would think it would end there, nope. George goes over to my waitress & says whatever he says, she immediately breaks out crying & runs to the ladies room, this is happening in the middle of a breakfast slam on a Sunday.
Way to go George, you've made 2 scenes with your staff members in front of your clients, talked to 1 client like you couldn't care less what the issue is & ruined the whole dining experience.
After this, this mornings breakfast & just plain horrible experience, this will be our last time going there. Because if George is indeed an owner, he doesn't deserve to have clients, shouldn't be in charge of staff & just won't be getting our business any further.
Too bad because the food is usually very good.
As a note my apologies to the waitress who George made cry, if I knew I wouldn't have bothered saying anything to him. & as a note to all staff there, if this is typical of George, you all deserve better, I would suggest all of you find better employment, nothing is worth putting up with a person like him.
Came here for the first time today with my family after many times passing by… excellent, super friendly staff & atmosphere & we loved our food. Thanks, Yola & Costa - we'll definitely be back!
I asked for the medium fatty smoked meat sandwich. It was okay. I was expecting some fatty bits but it was still too lean. The chef or cook was even asking the cashier if it was'really medium fatty?'
I guess they just dont do fatty or medium fatty variations of their smoke meat. Too bad!
