However, last night I ended up back at Fairmont because St. Viateur now closes early. Although both bagels are very similar, the reason I stopped buying Fairmont was due to a problem which used to occur far too often where the sesame seeds used would occasionally have a distinct taste of mold. This was not the case this time. &, I truly hope it stays this way. Interesting fact: ( for those who care) If you are at Fairmont late in the evening & find yourself squeezing between the 5 pallets stacked with 15 trays of bagged bagels destined for retail sale, & wondered how many bagels are on those 5 pallets, the numbers are as follows. Each tray has 9 dozen (108 bagels) X 15 trays per pallet 1,620 X 5 pallets= 8,100 bagels. At the present cost per dozen the 5 pallets are yours for just under $9,000.... But I'm sure they will cut you a better price for quantity.
We came to try some super fresh bagels, we weren't disappointed, we bought a few extra flavours to try later throughout the day. The sesame & all seasoned were the classic ones we enjoyed the most. The blueberry & cranberry were also great & flavourful. We came back before we returned home & purchased a dozen various flavours to take back home with us. Remember it's cash only so make sure you have it otherwise you won't get served.
Before I left Montreal, I needed to try these. When I got there, the line wasn’t as long & it moved pretty quickly. I went in & got a dozen bagels (blueberry, sesame, whole wheat & all dressed). I was also recommended the cream cheese (original) with the salmon spread. As I got to the airbnb, I gave it a try. It’s soft & thin - nothing compared to American bagels. When it’s toasted even better. I sliced each one & frozen them up. I have a good amount in my freezer.
