Review Summary

Éclair is described as a standout destination for specialty coffee in Montreal, delivering a memorable pour over experience with a broad bean selection and tasting checks before serving. The baristas are consistently praised for their knowledge, friendliness, and careful guidance, while the atmosphere is noted as cool, cozy, and social with a central bar that encourages sharing. The space is small and sometimes crowded, with long waits when busy and limited seating, but the quality and craft of the coffee are seen as worth it. Some reviews mention price and value, calling it pricier but fair for the experience, and a few notes point to occasional inconsistency in drinks. Across the board, there is a strong emphasis on top-tier coffee, international roasters, and a Montreal vibe that makes this place feel essential for serious coffee lovers. Overall, Éclair is regarded as among the best in the city, a place that draws devoted fans for remarkable pour overs and a welcoming, communal vibe.

Amazing coffee. We'll curated, definitely underrated. The shop owners & workers here are sincerely nice & they all compete in coffee in some way. I visited here twice on my visit to Montreal but wish I had come earlier to be able to visit every day.

I had some of the best coffee of my life here as a pour over & as a oat latte. It was full of fruit (strawberry) flavor that I rarely find in coffee shops (& I've had specialty coffee beans from all around the world). Of course the flavor depends on what they sourced at the time I visited, but no doubt they know how to brew a fine cup of coffee. Worth a visit or more.

As far as I know, the only coffee of its kind in Montreal. Coffees from internationally renowned roasters, the pour over card is akin to the likes of Subtext in Toronto, the staff is very friendly, & there is Gesha on the menu.

This is what 3rd wave specialty coffee is about.

Got myself a top shelf sidra, one gesha & something less fancy but still worthy a typica.

One of a kind spot in the country.

The absolute undisputed best specialty coffee selection in Montréal.

Coffee was balanced, with a dense mouth feel, straightforward & very classical. Well executed. However, the lack of more & more complex options (sometimes they have two offerings but not when I visited) does not make them qualify as specialty in my opinion. Also, when I visited they were offering a Brazilian coffee roasted in Berlin... Tbh It is already bad enough the unavaodable: to have coffee traveling once around the world. Doing a double loop sounds a little bit too much.

My favourite coffee in Montreal! You can try specialty pourovers too. They really respect coffee here ❤️
