Fantastic food but a little pricey. I came with my wife for a fancy (weekend-before-Valentine's-Day) dinner & we were well impressed. I believe the octopus appetizer is one of the best I've ever had. Amazing sauce with veggies & a super tender, fairly large (not chewy) octopus tentacle. The escargots appetizer was great, but had maybe a little too much pesto that overpowered the delicate flavour of the snails (a lot of pesto was left behind). For the main course we had the lamb & lobster risotto. The lamb was really good but I wasn't too impressed with the side of beans & potato...the potato specifically, just seemed like really large fries. I don't usually associate fries with fancy restaurants. The lobster risotto on the other hand was phenomenal. Tender lobster, perfect rice & an amazing sauce. For dessert my wife had a lemon tart (she loved it) & I had the cheese cake (delicious). I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion, but for a regular dinner out, a bit pricey. We did have a cocktail & glass of wine each, combined with 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts & a double espresso, our total with tax & tip was $360. Still worth the experience & I'd definitely come again...for a special occasion! :) ...definitely try the octopus if you like octopus...it's amazing.
I came here with my friend & I enjoyed every part of our evening. The food, desserts & service went above my expectations (highly recommend the onion soup, seafood quiche & lattes). Special thank you to Titouan & his colleagues for making us feel at home :) We were indecisive on certain menu items & changed our minds on a decision we already made. Titouan was patient with us & offered great personalised menu recommendations. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for the amazing food & service !
The food was over priced & inedible. Three adults for lunch without alcohol was just under $268!! This is without any alcohol 3 appetizers, 2 mains, I bottle of sparkling water & 1 espresso. no dessert. Two of us ordered the escargot & had to return it. It came at room temp & was so undersalted that all you could taste was overwhelming garlic. They asked us why we returned the food & then charged us for the 2 apps anyways. The burger which 2 people shared was fine but not worth the price. The ham added to the burger took away from the taste of the burger. The Mediterranean omelette was fine but under seasoned & slightly over cooked. All in all, my advice, skip the food. Stick to their pastries, croissant which are delightful & totally worth the price.

We only had coffee & desserts. The coffee was great. The dessert presentation was fantastic but I wasn’t impressed by the taste. My crème brûlée needed a more intense vanilla flavour. The service was satisfactory.
Charmant endroit, l'ambiance y est magique! Les parfums de la pâtisserie sont vraiment invitants! Il faut vraiment prendre le dessert sur place avec u de leur merveilleux café!!
Service vraiment trop long, nourriture vraiment overpriced. Pour les desserts/pâtisseries ca vaut la peine mais pas pour un souper ou pour simplement prendre un verre
The best dinner ever! The food, service, & of course desserts were impeccable! We sat outside & it was just lovely. Our favorite part of our trip to Montreal!

A lovely afternoon lunch, our party was ready almost an hour earlier than our reservation, & they accommodated without hesitation. Try the beef tartare! Everyone enjoyed their food, one issue was remedied swiftly! Be sure to save room for dessert!
I have known Duc de Lorraine for as long as I can remember. I remember eating a quiche for lunch, taking a bent up playing card from a deck attached to a silver stand. The store was old, charming but in need of special care. In the restaurant area hung crochet short curtains blocking the view of the Oratory right outside.
I have been a customer all those years, I have seen all the changes. At first many were insulted that things changed, but I have never seen so much action as I do today. The current owner is a young woman, who has turned Duc de Lorraine into a fabulous space it is today. I have watched her hire wonderful young people year after year, present beautiful cakes, create new menus, plant flowers year after year. She has staff to clean the city park across the street so we all have a beautiful place to sit. I have had her personally deliver many cakes to my home, & find staff to work private events for our family. The staff are mostly from France, smiling & lovely. Everyone works hard, & enjoys the atmosphere. They know customers by name, know their orders by heart ... its very special.
We have ordered many cakes over the years, we have ordered appetizers & dessert tables to compliment larger family events. The head chef has created beautiful cakes for us, even our own wedding cake a couple years ago.
While there may be some negative reviews, I believe its due to growing pains. Duc de Lorraine was never a place for lunch, dinner. The amount of people on the weekend is well over 100, they will need to further renovate to meet the modern demands. The renovations to Duc de Lorraine has made this once forgotten corner alive. I would like to thank Duc de Lorraine & their staff for all the hard work, & beauty they have added to our families life over the years. Job well done, Dimarco Family.
This is the best of the best! Excellent design, the choice of different croissants are to die for, the tartelettes are simply the best I have had outside of Europe. I have tried many bakeries around Montreal & this is far superior than all. The desserts are heaven, there is not one dessert I have tried that isn't delicious. Go early if you want a baguette, they sell out quickly. The owner & staff are friendly & they treat every single customer as an old friend. They also have accordionist playing live music some evenings. Go & enjoy, you will think you are in France eating at a patisserie.
