So friends, I spent my 6th year anniversary here with my fiancé & it was wonderful. Music & vibes were elegant & I loved every second of it.
The tromple d'oeil was phenomenal & delicious. I got to try the cacao & the mango along with the Ferrero rocher cake. They were fresh & delicious. Just another note, one of the patisserie was sprinkled with silver flakes & I loved that little touch.
Will definitely be returning again.
The cake that I bought for my Mom was divine & delicious!
The cake looks pretty & delicious, but it's too expensive & tastes normal. The staff was very friendly.
Just ordered some desserts of Uber eats :
Paris-brest : looks nothing like the picture on their menu & it's extremely small for 10$
Crème brulée : thick layer of brown sugar not crystalized properly, feels like chewing grains of sand .
Tiramisu : no coffee flavor , sponge cake dry & not even soaked with coffee .
Definitely do not recommend here .
This year my birthday cake wasn't just a cake-it was the centerpiece of the celebration & made the day feel extra special.Hands down, one of the best birthday cakes I've ever had!
The service was not so great at duc de loraine as the people who should be assisting customers seems too busy doing other stuff than talking to their customers & no smile , seems like i was disturbing her! Not a good experience about that!
We tried following 2 cakes:
-Fraisier
-Mousse Royal
Both were delicious. I prefer Mousse Royal.
I think a Fraisier contains Amaretto liqueur, which I don't like very much. I wish the menu had some explanations of the cakes. It will be easier to find one you really like.
We bought the New York chocolate pastry & it was so hard to bite!!!! It was hard & not fresh at all, it seems it is from yesterday's batch which was very disappointing. we bought Tiramisu cup as well, which was barely any cake, just full of cream & too sweet. Over all not satisfied at all for $24 for both items.
A beautiful place for spoiling yourself or others. You can take out some delicious French pastry, or eat inside in a beautiful dining area.
We had the elegant Omelette Florentine, a delicately light omelette with spinach & gruyere& tomato, & a delicious & massive Salade Niçoise. For dessert, we've had the Napolitain, Eclair crême Chantlly, & Opéra cake. Their croissants are wonderful too.
Service is of course fantastic, friendly, & attentive. A real treat.
Just today I was in this wonderful place, I want to say that the cakes are exceptionally good, but I want to say that when the bill came you were forced to leave a tip... I knew that only if you want to leave a tip, leave it if not, but the people who work in this place told me that I was forced to do this..
Although Duc de Lorraine is a magnificent restaurant; last evening I was very disappointed with the welcome & service we initially received. We were greeted by the Batista behind the counter. We had to walk ourselves into the dining room with no guidance to our table. We sat at our table which was not completely set … I had to take our candle & flower vase from the table next to us which was not out back on our table from the clean up. We needed to wait at least 10 minutes before anyone even offered us water. We needed to ask for bread & butter at the start of the meal . THEN … Rashid took over & everything ran smoothly from that point onward. Rashid is a professional & has been at Duc de Lorraine for approximately 7 years & that is evident. When I made the reservation, I mentioned it was my husband's birthday. …. NO celebration at dessert time was mentioned. Now that was disappointing. All this to say I still left a very descent tip for the staff. Praying that this is not going to become a practice because that is not the Duc de Lorraine I know since 1975 when I ordered my wedding cake & desserts!
I buy birthday cakes from this pâtisserie. I also was there for soupe! It is an overprice but delicious place to go but most importantly It has beautiful cakes & croissants. Just recommended if you have money & you dont know what to do!!
5 stars! My go-to breakfast spot! This beloved Montreal pastry shop & café (since 1952!) never disappoints. Their bakery & pastries are divine, but the real showstopper is their custom birthday cakes , truly exceptional! The combination of traditional charm & mouthwatering treats makes this place truly special. Whether you're celebrating a birthday or just starting your day, this pastry shop is a must-visit destination. Highly recommend. (Photo by @behnooshtz)
very nice place to eat outside..cakes are abit expensive..
Bakery Duc de Loraine offers a delightful array of French pastries & breads, known for their authentic taste & quality. I rave about their croissants & specialty cakes, making it a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts in the area.
Just had a cake in there. Mediocre taste that is way overpriced.
I went to celebrate my birthday there! We all had a great time there & they even sign happy birthday for me! Michael, the waiter, took really good care of us! Chocolate cake was a little dry but I am eager to get back & try different things from the menu! Price-Quality-Quantity ratio is good!!
Fantastic food but a little pricey. I came with my wife for a fancy (weekend-before-Valentine's-Day) dinner & we were well impressed. I believe the octopus appetizer is one of the best I've ever had. Amazing sauce with veggies & a super tender, fairly large (not chewy) octopus tentacle. The escargots appetizer was great, but had maybe a little too much pesto that overpowered the delicate flavour of the snails (a lot of pesto was left behind). For the main course we had the lamb & lobster risotto. The lamb was really good but I wasn't too impressed with the side of beans & potato...the potato specifically, just seemed like really large fries. I don't usually associate fries with fancy restaurants. The lobster risotto on the other hand was phenomenal. Tender lobster, perfect rice & an amazing sauce. For dessert my wife had a lemon tart (she loved it) & I had the cheese cake (delicious). I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion, but for a regular dinner out, a bit pricey. We did have a cocktail & glass of wine each, combined with 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts & a double espresso, our total with tax & tip was $360. Still worth the experience & I'd definitely come again...for a special occasion! :) ...definitely try the octopus if you like octopus...it's amazing.
Great cake 🍰 & croissant 🥐! Very red & delicious!
I have known Duc de Lorraine for as long as I can remember. I remember eating a quiche for lunch, taking a bent up playing card from a deck attached to a silver stand. The store was old, charming but in need of special care. In the restaurant area hung crochet short curtains blocking the view of the Oratory right outside.
I have been a customer all those years, I have seen all the changes. At first many were insulted that things changed, but I have never seen so much action as I do today. The current owner is a young woman, who has turned Duc de Lorraine into a fabulous space it is today. I have watched her hire wonderful young people year after year, present beautiful cakes, create new menus, plant flowers year after year. She has staff to clean the city park across the street so we all have a beautiful place to sit. I have had her personally deliver many cakes to my home, & find staff to work private events for our family. The staff are mostly from France, smiling & lovely. Everyone works hard, & enjoys the atmosphere. They know customers by name, know their orders by heart ... its very special.
We have ordered many cakes over the years, we have ordered appetizers & dessert tables to compliment larger family events. The head chef has created beautiful cakes for us, even our own wedding cake a couple years ago.
While there may be some negative reviews, I believe its due to growing pains. Duc de Lorraine was never a place for lunch, dinner. The amount of people on the weekend is well over 100, they will need to further renovate to meet the modern demands. The renovations to Duc de Lorraine has made this once forgotten corner alive. I would like to thank Duc de Lorraine & their staff for all the hard work, & beauty they have added to our families life over the years. Job well done, Dimarco Family.
I've just discovered this bakery & can't rave about it enough! The cakes & tarts are delicious, & the sandwiches are devine! As for savory, I've only tried the quiche lorraine but it was also great & reminded me of the ones I'd get in France. The servers are kind & informative (I'm always asking for suggestions & they haven't let me down yet!). There is not a ton of seating but I've never been there & not been able to find a spot. It's quiet & a nice place to catch up with a friend or just chill with your laptop & a drink. I have a feeling I'm going to be a regular!
