I came to this Thai restaurant after seeing so many great reviews, & overall it was a very enjoyable dinner experience. We ordered the salt & pepper shrimp, beef fried rice, chicken khao soi, & Tom Yum soup.
The salt & pepper shrimp was definitely the highlight for me. The shell was crispy while the shrimp inside stayed juicy & tender, almost like tempura. The seasoning was really layered - spicy, slightly sweet, & with a subtle numbing flavor that made it especially addictive.
The beef sauce in the fried rice was excellent & very flavorful, though the beef itself was a little on the tougher side.
The chicken khao soi had a rich & fragrant curry broth, & I could even taste a hint of satay-like flavor in it, which I really liked. That said, I felt the egg noodles could have been a bit chewier. Also, besides the chicken leg & pickled vegetables, I think adding more toppings or side ingredients - like bean sprouts or fresh herbs - would make the dish even better by adding more texture, freshness, & variety.
The Tom Yum soup was a bit heavier & stronger in flavor than I expected, though I'm not sure if that's closer to the authentic Thai style.
Best Pad Thai in Montreal! definitely come back highly recommend.
The food was amazing, the restaurant feels very welcoming & homey, the food took a little long to come but the taste was definitely worth the wait. We got the chicken wings, the spicy papaya salad & the curry lamb. We also got the panda crème brûlée for dessert which was light & the perfect way to end our meal! Everything was delicious but the lamb was definitely the highlight, some of the best Thai food we've had, thank you we will definitely be back!!!
Dek Sen is hands down the best Thai in the plateau! The food is really yummy, fairly price & the management / staff are always great!
Cudos to the manager for keeping a good team! If you're going there, you HAVE to try the Beef Panang!
Restaurant de type familial.
Si vous avez envie de manger de bons plats Thaïlandais.
Allez y. Bon rapport qualité-prix pour un voyage gustatif en Asie.
The food is a 7.5/10. The big plus of this restaurant is that the meat is all halal. The service was lacking but the wait staff were nice on the rare occasion they came to your table. The Chicken Pad Thai wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped & the Chicken Khao Gai Pad was really rich & the chicken was cooked very well, however the rice was quite underwhelming. Lastly, portion sizes were excellent & the area is close to dessert places.
I went back again because it's really good. It is halal & the quality of foods are amazing. Every meal has their own flavours & good quality & the staff are super friendly. I will definitely go back.
A spacious & comfortable spot that is perfect for catching up with friends over Thai food. We ordered the mango salad, green curry with chicken, & beef pad thai. The service was attentive & genuinely friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Would definitely return to explore more of the menu.
Mention spéciale à la gentillesse du serveur qui nous a offert un polaroid à l'occasion de la St-Valentin 📸💘
Amazing restaurant, comparable to the food in Thailand honestly. I just wish there were more halal Thai restaurants in mtl.
Green curry is amazing.
Best pad Thai we had in Montreal
Server very polite warm & friendly.
Meilleur Thaïlandais en ville ! Plusieurs fois en Thaïlande & c'est ce qui s'en rapproche le plus.
Le chicken larb & la tom kha sont excellentes 🙌
Dek Sen Cuisine Thaïlandaise is a fantastic hidden gem in Montreal. The space is cozy & welcoming, & the food is clearly made with care & authentic flavours.
I ordered the lamb, & it was outstanding - tender, perfectly cooked, & packed with rich, aromatic spices that felt both comforting & bold. You can tell the kitchen knows what it's doing.
As someone who spends a lot of time walking Montreal's neighbourhoods & recommending local spots during my walking tours, this is exactly the kind of restaurant I love highlighting: locally owned, consistent, & genuinely memorable. It's a great stop whether you're a local or visiting the city & looking to eat well after exploring on foot.
Highly recommend Dek Sen if you're into authentic Thai cuisine & discovering great food in Montreal.
I was very disappointed in the service provided & the environment we experienced. This could have easily been a 5 stars because the food is great but we were freezing our butts inside the restaurant. We had to eat with our coats on. I don't think a restaurant can legally run without heat during Quebec winter. CNESST should be involved. Plus, it took an unreasonable amount of time before getting our food (15min before taking our order, 30min before getting appetizers & 40min for our mains). 2 stars because I can't blame the workers, they're not the owners & they're doing their best.
