Our server Victoria gave us excellent service, polite, attentive & answered all our questions on the menu. The place was st capacity so it was quite noisy but it had a good vibe. Food came quickly with good size portions. Coffee was surprisingly delicious. Overall a very positive experience.
The food was served hot & was tasty. The server came to us promptly on arrival offering coffee & other beverages. The options were different from most breakfast restaurants in the area. If you want a quick but not rushed breakfast this is a good option.
The menu revolves around poached eggs, which might be great if you love them. I don't. I swapped for scrambled eggs but they were bland & dry. The waffle was good. The homemade tots were delicious.
The fried chicken was just okay. A bit dry & not the typical crispy fried chicken you expect, especially when it's paired with waffles. Also, how are chicken & waffles not automatically served with maple syrup? In Quebec? 🤯
That feels like a crime.
Our waitress was very nice but seemed new. We had to ask a few times for condiments & coffee refills. The place is also quite loud, so conversation wasn't the easiest.
Not a bad brunch, just not one I'd rush back for.
Food was delivered cold, our coffee was full of coffee grinds. I asked for eggs without chives. Got chives. Waitress was very nice & service was good. Disappointing. Not going back.
Ordered Benedict with Portobello mushrooms. The eggs are fine but the Portobello was not fresh & tasteless. Cafe is included, however, it's not tasting like coffee! Service is mediocre & the atmosphere is noisy. We were 2 & it seems that thos place doesn't welcome us as 2 is too few for them?! Very disappointed!
Oh, please, brace yourself. I recently endured the absolute'trauma' of dining at Déjeuners Yolks Breakfast, & I feel it is my civic duty to warn you about the horrifyingly pleasant experience I had with their fluffy blueberry pancakes.
The'Inconvenience' of Perfect Pancakes
First, let's talk about the structural integrity of these pancakes. They couldn't just pick a lane, could they? Instead of being a thin, sad crepe or a literal brick of dough, they had the audacity to be a hybrid-somewhere between a classic flapjack & one of those impossibly thick Japanese pancakes.
The Texture: It was like eating a cloud that had been working out. Truly offensive levels of fluffiness.
The Blueberries: They weren't the mushy, canned blue-dyed sugar spheres I've come to expect from life. No, they were fresh. The nerve.
The Sweetness: I brought my appetite for high-fructose corn syrup, but the pancakes were already perfectly sweetened. I didn't even get to drown my sorrows in syrup. Way to ruin a perfectly good sugar coma opportunity, Yolks.
The'Aggressively' Good Coffee
Then came the coffee. If you enjoy that watered-down, burnt-bean water that tastes like a campfire's regrets, stay far away from this place.
The coffee was strong without being bitter. It's like they actually want you to enjoy the flavor of the bean rather than just using it as a caffeine-delivery vehicle for your morning jitters. It was smooth, dark, & utterly disappointing for anyone who loves a bad cup of joe.
The'Harassment' of Hospitality
& don't even get me started on the service. Our server was-get this-friendly.
She had the gall to swing by every five minutes to check if we needed a coffee refill or anything else. Can you imagine the sheer exhaustion of having to say'No, thank you, I'm doing great' while being treated like a valued human being? I go to breakfast to be ignored by a teenager on their phone, not to be looked after with genuine care & efficiency.
Verdict: If you hate delicious, innovative comfort food, excellent caffeine, & being treated with warmth & kindness, you should absolutely avoid this place at all costs.
Atmosphere was alive & very busy which tells me that it's the breakfast place to be in the area. The service was very good, I would have put 5 stars, but because of whoever washed the coffee cups, I was met with another woman's lipstick on my cup, it survived the wash cycle. I drank from it, but at least it wasn't on the stain itself. My friend noticed it & told said'your lipstick does not match the one on the cup' 😵?💫. Our server promptly replaced my cup & coffee, hence the 4 stars remain. It's my first time ever seeing a restaurant with only 2 ways of cooking eggs, I had to settle with poached eggs. It was quite tasty, I just expected an establishment that specializes in brunch to have over-easy. Aside from that, my experience still deserves a 4 start rating. Will be returning for the atmosphere, the service & those poached eggs.
It is very busy for a good reason - a lot of menu options, all fresh & tasty. The service was very fast & friendly, but it can take some time to get a table, coffee is average, but not burned, food was great & plates are decent size. Unfortunately, no reservations during weekends & it's a welcome edition to West Island breakfast scene.
Food portion is fine. Double smoked bacon is very good & crispy. Avocado is good & fresh.
One of the down side is that coffee is not included per dish. For each main course, you have to pay $2 per filter coffee; otherwise $4.25 per cup of filtered coffee.
The choices in the menu were pretty limited. No way of getting a plate with a usual eggs & pancake without paying an expensive extra, had to have a plate with just 4 pancakes, very little sauce, no fruits or nothing else.
I had the yolks classic which is eggs, meat & bread. There was very little eggs in the plate, almost not enough for 1 piece of bread, they taste good though. The breakfast potatoes or tater tots were not good, was eating more fried stuff than potatoes.
The kids menu was disappointing, needed to add a bunch of extras to have something decent.
In summary, you don't really get a bit of everything in your plate, you need to add a lot of extras. Also the filter coffee for 2$ extra to add felt cheap & too expensive.
Also, the bathrooms did not have any heating
UPDATE:
Went to Yolks for the 2nd time this week, on Saturday morning, & the food & service was on point!
This will be our new weekend spot.
I had the Tofu Scramble with Portabello Mushrooms & the breakfast potatoes. Bottomless Coffee. All delicious.

Went to Yolks DDO on Monday, on their opening day & had a great experience. The space is welcoming & the staff were fantastic. Loved seeing a true plant-based option on the menu without having to customize everything. I had the Tofu Scramble with a side of portobello mushrooms & tater tots, & it was all delicious. Oat milk for coffee is a great bonus. Wishing them lots of success! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
