You'll read a lot of mixed opinions about this restaurant, but honestly-aside from the price-don't pay attention to the noise. This is a high-end restaurant, & the quality & execution of the food are truly unique. I've tried many Lebanese & Syrian restaurants, & to this day, nothing beats Damas. The food is outstanding; it's one of the best restaurants in Montreal. The fact that reservations are so hard to get isn't hype-people genuinely love the food here.
If you're wondering what to wear, opt for something nice & elegant. I've been there on Mondays & even then you'll see corporate guests in suits & ties.
For first-timers, I highly recommend the tasting menu. You get a little bit of everything, & it's very filling. I've tried almost the entire menu, & honestly, every single dish is excellent.
Street parking is available, but there's no valet.
Not only was the food phenomenal but the reason I would come back beyond that is for Elijah & Theo. Quite possibly the best service I have received. The dynamic duo is not only knowledgeable but they also create such an inviting & fun atmosphere to dine in. We will definitely be back any time we are in Montreal. Thank you Theo thank you Elijah & thank you Damas.
Elijah & Theo were absolutely amazing! They made our experience here so memorable, & the food was to die for. The vegetarian options were incredible, & our group of 9 girls loved everything about this place. Amazing food, amazing service, & such a great experience overall. 10/10 would recommend!
Lots of hype, I have wanted to go for quite a while. The service & atmosphere were stellar. & while the food tasted great & was delicious, the price point for portions was absolutely ridiculous, especially when described as'family style' for sharing. Equally, there were no easy options for 2 people outside of the sharing menu. Not even some simple mezzes... We ended up getting some borek & a lamb kebab to split. We left feeling a bit hungry, but not enough to drop another $100 on a dish that wouldn't actually fill us up.
There's something to the adage that if it's good food, & worth the cost for value, folks who know the cuisine will dine there. This didn't appear to be the case. It was very much a high end restaurant for a non-European cuisine on the edge of the high income enclave of Outremont. & so while the food was well executed, & tasty, & the decor top notch, it ultimately came off as pretentious & highly over priced for what actually ended up on the table. If that's your vibe, & enjoy top decor & service, with a sanitized & heavily curated presentation of small dishes from a cuisine known for large family plates overflowing mezzes rather than the real deal, this is your place.
Food was amazing! Very very accommodating to my vegan + sugar free requirements. I'm not always the easiest customer because if it but they showed me so much grace & I appreciated it so much! We had plenty of food! Quality price was amazing!! Will come back soon :) I love it here & recommend it immensely ❤?
Great experience. Went to the sunday brunch & it was awesome. We were a party of 7 & we shared all of the plates (they are meant to be shared). The plates were beautifully layed out & the food was great. You also need to try out some of their specialty coffees.
We are vegan & they surpassed our expectations !! We had way too much food, everything was amazing; my highlights were the mushroom hummus (which is NOT on the menu, ask for it !) & the grilled veggies. The service was on point, our waiter was very aware of dietary restrictions, he directly offered to switch a yogurt sauce for tahini. He also suggested wine & cocktails to pair with our meal. The decor is beautiful, couldn't have asked for a better night !
