Really nice cozy cafe. I ordered an iced latte with caramel syrup, it was quite nice & refreshing. The grilled cheese with smoked meat was absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly & helpful as there were many food & drink options. Will definitely come back to try other things on the menu!
Service décevant de la part de celui que je présume être le patron. L'attente a été très longue & l'accueil n'était pas particulièrement agréable. Je recommanderais d'explorer les autres endroits à proximité.

Nestled into a cozy corner in old Montreal, this split level cafe caters to tourists & locals alike with kindness, care to detail, & with grace. Food is fresh & the coffee beans can also be purchased by the bag.
If you order an iced cafe latte, you will be pleased to see what patience & care they take to create this refreshing & energy boosting beverage. It's like alcohol mixology & they even use a shaker to chill the espresso, creating a smooth frothy'crema'. All I can say is go.

Super cute coffee shop! Unfortunately I arrived just as it was closing but got an iced latte & tea to go! Both were delicious! Service was also excellent!

J'suis passé en bike, pis j'me suis fait pogner par les reviews en ligne - ben déçu. Le latté avait l'air beau, mais cr*** qu'y'était chaud ! Tellement que j'pouvais même pas y goûter. Pas pro pantoute, pis en plus c'est dangereux. La bouffe ? Rien d'extra : un ti croissant avec une tranche de fromage pis deux mini tranches de jambon - 11,50 $ ? Come on, c'est ben trop cher pour c'que c'est. Pis y'prennent même pas la carte. C'est clair que j'reviens pas icitte.

My three days in Montréal (coming from Vermont) have been nothing but warm & inviting & the friendly, calm atmosphere (not to mention the yummy food & drink) at the cafe made me feel welcome. Thank you.
We are visiting Montreal for a week & thankfully found this place the first morning. We have been every day since. Romain, the owner, is so friendly & welcoming, plus his espresso & latte skills are off the charts. The ham & cheese sandwich is sublime. Tomorrow is our last day in town & our last chance to visit & I am genuinely sad that we'll not be able to make this a daily stop after that. If you are local or are visiting Montreal, you must make this a daily stop.

Eating breakfast & having our coffee here (3/30/2025) & this little café is absolutely exquisite.
For drinks, I had an iced latte with maple syrup & my husband had a long espresso. Both were excellent. My husband enjoyed that the espress was quite strong, & my latte had an excellent flavor.
For food we had ham & cheese croissants, I had a bostock, & my husband had a lavender scone. Again, everything was scrumptious! The ham & cheese croissants (homemade pastry at the café) were a revelation, & my bostock was the best sweet pastry I've had in a very long time. The lavender scone was amazing, with a lovely lavender scent that didn't become a soapy taste on the palate.
The ambience is lovely, with an old-fashioned vibe & an open bakery. The smells of the fresh baked goods wafts over you enticingly as soon as you open the door
To boot, the owner/proprietor is an absolute gem of a human! Funny, personable, helpful, & eager to provide excellent service.
Delicious croissants & wonderfully warm service. The owner was very sweet with my little ones & makes a superb lavender latte 👌🏽 We spent two days in Montreal & ate breakfast here both mornings because it was that incredible! Would highly recommend stopping by if in the area.
My wife & I were visiting Montreal a couple weeks ago & had to come here to enjoy this gem of a cafe because it was mentioned in a recent murder mystery book by Louise Penny called the grey wolf. We enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich, a BLT, a latte & a flat white & everything was amazing. We were able to sit & relax & enjoy just being there. Talked with the owner for a bit - really friendly & appreciated hearing our story of coming there because of a story. We'll be back. Definitely recommend!

If you're visiting Montreal, Chez Mère Grand is an absolute must-visit. I stumbled upon this charming spot as it was conveniently located right across from my hotel, & it turned out to be a true hidden gem. The ambiance is warm & welcoming, a perfect reflection of the exceptional people who run it. The staff is genuinely some of the best I've ever encountered - friendly, attentive, & clearly passionate about what they do. Their personal touch makes every visit feel special. Everything here is freshly made, & you can tell they invest a lot of time & effort into ensuring the highest quality of not just the food but also the music & the ambiance. It's this attention to detail that makes the experience truly unforgettable. Chez Mère Grand captures the heart of Montreal's hospitality & artistry. Petit café vraiment sympathique & joliment décoré avec une bonne sélection de viennoiseries & sandwiches faits sur place (la chocolatine est délicieuse!!) Le latté est aussi excellent! Mon café préféré quand je suis dans le quartier. On peut aussi commander pour emporter. À visiter!
We tried many different cafes in Montreal during our 5 day stay & this was my absolute favourite! Great lattes, extremely friendly service & peaceful & unique ambiance. The croissant was more like a cornetto but it was freshly baked & didn't take away from the experience. Would highly recommend!
