Overall: Cozy cafe with lots of vegetarian & vegan options. Pros: The food & drinks we ordered tasted great (went for breakfast)! Eclectic decorations make this a cozy & unique cafe. Cons: 1) Wi-Fi information wasn't visible. Waitress provided me with the information upon asking, it was handwritten on a piece of paper, the information was hard to read & I couldn't connect to the internet. 2) No kids menu though the waitress had suggestions.
I went to for brunch for the first time in this café. It was nicely set up & there was even the option to sit outside. I had the Portuguese breakfast plate with salad & Portuguese toast & a hot chocolate. All the food was extremely good, but the only thing I was not satisfied with was that the sliced sausages were too salty for me. Other than that it is a nice cafe where they have a lot of variety in food for a decent price.

It's been a while since I sat down for a coffee & pastry. I hiked Mont Royal Parc & went down to Cafe Chez Jose. I ordered the Pastel de Nata - Famous Portuguese Custard Tarts & a cappuccino. The girl suggested that I have them heated. Wow. With cinnamon, it's five stars, I tell you. Coupled with their delicious cappuccino, I was very happy.
My boyfriend & I were visiting the City & we were just searching for places to eat brunch, & Cafe Jose came across. & google reviews didn't disappoint. My boyfriend had the Portuguese Breakfast & I had Mexican Crepe breakfast if I'm not mistaken & it was soooo goood & fulfilling. & we had egg tart for dessert, & I had mokkachino. Def gonna be back soon
This fun eclectic cafe is perfect for brunch & located in a great walkable area! The staff are so polite & the dishes are so good! I had been on the search for pasteis de nata that would taste as good as the ones I had on a trip to Portugal - these are by far some of the BEST! The Portuguese breakfast plate was tasty & the chicken sandwich was so savory!
Food is fantastic, but they recently increased the prices & my sandwich & salad cost 30$ plus tip. Definitely want to keep going here, but I can't justify spending that much. It isn't worth it. Lovely cafe with very kind staff & delicious food though!
Thus cute little Cafe was the best spot we found in Montreal. The staff were extremely polite & cooperative. They suggested some really good dishes & the taste was top notch. I had one of the delicious chicken sandwich here. My friends got other dishes & they were satisfied too. Will definitely come back again when in Montreal
C'est la première fois que me rendais sur Duluth, le café des chats comme destination. Mais, après avoir parlé de Chez José à une connaissance, elle m'a dit, "vas-y pour essayer leur sandwich épicé, tu vas adooooré"! Bon, si j'ai bien compris, je devrais retourner sur Duluth, sans attendre 50ans cette fois! La réputation de votre resto dépasse la frontière de l'île!

We had one of the most delicious breakfast experiences at Chez José Café. The food was amazing - we had a Portuguese breakfast & pasteis de nata, to die for! - & our waiter was excellent! The place is also super cute & fun. We will come back whenever we are here in Montreal.
Great neighborhood cafe for Portuguese breakfast. Cozy atmosphere with familial flare & decor. it's a snug fit but good for chatting locals & tourists while you enjoy delicious food.
I got the Le Porto Végé & it had an even balance of egg, veg (zucchini, red pepper, onion), & potatoes. Had a good amount of spice that didn't overpower the dish.

A tiny, eclectic cafe with a great vintage vibe. Good service - very happy with how flexible & quick our server was. The food was very good although the common consensus was that it was lacking in seasoning. Their single bathroom could also use a serious clean & tidy up. Definitely worth a try though!
