Review Summary

September Cafe is widely recognized as a standout brunch destination in Montreal, consistently praised for its high-quality menu featuring exceptional pancakes, flavorful tomato soup with grilled cheese, and satisfying breakfast sandwiches. While the atmosphere is frequently described as cozy, trendy, and vibrant, the popularity of the space often results in significant wait times and a crowded, energetic environment that can be difficult for larger groups or those seeking a quiet experience. Although opinions on service consistency and price are mixed, the majority of visitors find the food quality and unique, minimalist aesthetic well worth the wait. Many patrons recommend arriving early to avoid the longest queues, noting that the restaurant offers a memorable culinary experience that solidifies its reputation as a local favorite.

I'm pretty sure people are often here because of its pancakes & they are right! I must say… you have to order the tomato soup… it was amazing.

It is a popular place so if you don't like to do long lines you may come to early or to late (like 3pm). Anyways… totally worth it.

Yes there's a line & all the tables are taken, but somehow the line moves quickly & seats open up.
The varied menu is delicious & such good value that it sometimes feels like inflation missed September. The pancakes, cashew chicken salad, salted chocolate chip cookie, or nourishing bone broth are some of my favorites. The coffees & matches are especially good, hot or iced. Also, they're thoughtfully open on Monday!

There is a reason why there were line ups out the door for a Saturday morning. Glad we waited & line moved quickly.
We ordered the breakfast sandwich & deluxe sandwich- my husband said it was one of the best sandwiches he's had.
The pancakes looked incredible so we'll have to order next time.
They have seating both indoor & outdoor.

Will definitely be back- glad we found this gem!

Loved the vibe, food & coffee of this gem in Montreal.
I had my first breakfast in Quebec here & I felt welcomed.
My pancakes were full of maple syrup & the oat latte was just perfectly done (not too hot, not lukewarm - just on point).
Music was good too

This place was recommended by a local that I trust & it didn't disappoint.

The pancakes are very necessary & the bone broth will help you survive the MTL winter.

Don't sleep on the avo toast, also a certified banger!

I've been coming to September 2-3 times a month for a few years now & I'll probably never stop going. Consistent coffee & matcha (always delicious, especially when made by barista Sonora). Consistent food (also always delicious). The breakfast sandwich is a fave of mine, as well as the tomato soup with grilled cheese. I do love the pancakes & the halloumi toast as well! But really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I find the prices are well worth the value. Only downside is the seating areas since it's normally so packed. I recommend going on a weekday if you can or close to when they open on the weekend.

The line outside may be annoying sometimes but trust me it's worth it! Wanna start a say the right way? Get a breakfast sandwich Deluxe! It is soooo good! I don't love pickles & I live the one in it!

September Cafe delivered on quality & pricing, making my visit enjoyable. I'd seen long lines before & wondered if it was overhyped, but the experience justified its popularity-though the wait might not be essential.

The banana bread was outstanding, & the latte, chocolate cookie, & sandwich déjeuner were all well-made. Seating was tight due to constant crowds, but the space was thoughtfully decorated & efficient.

No regrets-good food, fair prices, & a nice vibe. I'll be back to try more from the menu, confident it'll be just as good.
