Café September is widely celebrated as a premier brunch destination in Montreal, beloved for its exceptionally fluffy pancakes, comforting tomato soup paired with grilled cheese, and high-quality breakfast sandwiches. While the café maintains a vibrant, minimalist atmosphere and consistently friendly service, its popularity often leads to significant wait times and a crowded environment. Most patrons agree that the freshness and flavor of the dishes make the experience well worth the effort, especially when visiting during quieter weekday hours. Although the seating process can be hectic, the delicious coffee, artisanal lattes, and generous portions ensure that guests frequently return for another satisfying meal.
Super cool spot with delicious food! Gets super busy so there might be a wait/line, but it's worth it! Try the halloumi toast - highly recommend. & the pancakes are a must too!
Out of all the places we visited in Montreal, this one was my favourite. The pancakes really hit the spot-soft, warm, & perfect with butter & maple syrup, especially in the cold weather. The place was busy, but the food arrived fresh & well presented. Very cozy & pleasant spot for a good breakfast. One small suggestion: adding a side of fruit with the pancakes (banana or berries) would make them perfect.
Food is great, service is good, waiting time is very long tho. Still would go every week end but plan on waiting a good 30-45 min before ordering! Their chicken sandwich is worth the wait.
I took the breakfast sandwich & my friend took the pancakes. The staff is kind, the food meets my standards & the place is clean. There are two clean bathrooms. September Café is known for being consistently full unless the weather is snowy. The culture of the environment is bold & other customers will ask for your seat if you're done with your food. You go in & order at the cashier & sit wherever you want. I recommend this place for pairs, not large groups
They offer a somewhat limited menu, which makes it easy to make up your mind. There is still a good mix of savory vs sweet, & what they do, they do well. Can get busy but turnover seems relatively quick. Super friendly staff & all around a great spot!
Incredible must try spot! It was very busy on a Saturday morning but the staff was quick to keep us in the loop about wait times. Incredibly friendly & kind staff, beautiful interior, & the food…. WOW. My partner & I ordered a macchiato & a matcha for drinks. If you're a matcha drinker, you'll be pleased to hear that they serve ceremonial grade. Both of our drinks were perfect! We shared the pancakes & the avocado toast. I think that was some of the best, most flavorful avocado toast I've ever had. The pancakes were so yummy as well, perfectly fluffy & served with a very generous portion of maple syrup. I can't recommend this place enough!
Le sandwich déjeuner était délicieux & mon flat white l'était tout autant. Le service était efficace & agréable. J'y suis allée un vendredi matin : belle atmosphère pour lire & prendre un café, & aucun problème pour le stationnement dans la rue.
Probably the best pancakes I've ever had, the avocado toast was unreal as well, coming from someone who makes it regularly for breakfast theirs just hit differently.
Also tried the grilled cheese + tomato soup. It was good nothing to go wild about.
Also it's very busy & first come first serve we were able to get seats fairly quickly. Would definitely go back just for the pancakes alone 💯
