As we walked in , the ambiance & decor was wonderful. Started with Calamari & roasted artichoke which was to die for. Main dishes cavateli with rapini & sausage, veal limoni, ravioli & saltiboca were delicious. & of course the Pizza is amazing. Thanks to the entire staff especially our waiter Charles.
Was there 2 weeks ago with my kids & some friends & we ate like champions. My kids were licking their fingers even as picky eaters, devoured the grilled octopus, calamari & pizza. Their cutlets are juicy, their pizzas are savory & their pastas ( i shared a few plates with the boys) were one better than the other. I was surprised that their coffee was better than Milano's & Olympico's which means they must have put alot of effort into picking the right beans & calibrating the machine to have the right amount of coffee each time they make an espresso. I'll definitely go back & looking forward to it.
It is a nice Italian Cafe. I ordered the'Bada Bing' pizza, was very good. Thin crust, cooked properly. Was light, I ate the whole thing. They have'special' iced tea, which is great because I always drink iced tea & theirs isn't as sugary as Fuze or Brisk. I didn't order a dessert, but their capacino was very good.
Parking is in the back, can be a hassle, right at lunch. I parked in the Sami fruits, across the street.
Passed by with some friends on a Sunday evening around 7 pm & it was busy. Very nicely decorated & seating was very comfortable. Our waitress Marika was excellent. Friendly, attentive & efficient. We shared a margherita pizza to start which was delicious. My wife had the Veal al limone which she said was good. I wouldn't have been happy with that plate as the portion was 3 small & thin slices of veal for $40. I would have still been hungry. I had the Chicken parmigiana which was delicious but instead of serving it with a side of pasta, I got fries. Wasn't crazy about that substitution. My friends also had the veal as well as the cavatelli which was delicious. A nice meal in a nice environment with good service but a few small shortcomings. Highly suggest them to drop the fries with the chicken parmigiana & increase the portion on the veal. Recommended.
I finally made it to Café Gentile for brunch, & it was well worth the wait.
It was quite busy when I arrived, but I was seated at the bar, which worked perfectly since I was dining alone. Serena (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) was working behind the bar & was absolutely lovely - warm, personable, & always smiling. I ordered the Avocado Crostini, a Gentile Spritz, & a latte. Everything was fresh & delicious, & the latte was excellent.
Since I hadn't yet tried their dinner menu, I made a reservation & returned with my husband. Once again, the restaurant was very busy, which says a lot. We were greeted warmly by the hostess & shown to our table promptly. The atmosphere is inviting & cozy, with great music that adds to the overall experience.
Our server, Bella, was attentive without being intrusive - the perfect balance. For appetizers, I had the Artichoke Crostini & my husband ordered the special (Argentine shrimp with quinoa). Both were beautifully presented & full of flavor. For mains, I chose the Grilled Branzino, which was perfectly cooked, & my husband had the Madison Square Garden pizza, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
We ended the evening with a brownie topped with marshmallow & vanilla gelato - a sweet & satisfying finish. Thank you to Serena for the thoughtful treat.
Between Serena & Bella, the service was outstanding on both visits. Café Gentile delivers not only excellent food but also a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to return.
Highly recommended for both brunch & dinner in the West Island.
I was so excited to try this new location & it did not disappoint at all! From the moment we walked in, the service was great, the staff is always so genuinely welcoming at Gentile's. & as usual, the food was amazing! We had the STK wrap (10/10), the charred up pizza (9/10) & the lasagna parlour (8.5/10).
Also love EVERYTHING the design team is doing over there from the packaging to the merch to the restaurant layout.
The pizza is here is excellent. The ingredients are fresh, & extremely well prepared. The service is also impeccable. While on the pricey side, I would say that it is worth your money. This is my favorite pizza in the city.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Our waitress, Bella, was incredibly kind, attentive, & helpful throughout the meal - she truly made us feel welcome. We ordered pizza, & it was absolutely delicious: fresh, flavorful, & perfectly cooked. Great food & excellent service made for a really enjoyable visit. We'll definitely back !!
First time ay Gentile's. Went for a team lunch & had an awesome experience. Bella our waitress was nothing less than amazing & we shared many laughs. The cutlet sandwich ( added marinated eggplant) with a side of arugula salad was DELICIOUS! The pizza so Yummy! & the latte's OMG had to have 2. Will definitely return!
Super belle déco, les pizzas sont très bonnes. Point négatif, le bruit c est limite si on entend la personne en face de vous. Le café est super aussi. Légèrement cher quand même
Pros: The menu offers a fair Italian selection. The food was good & well-presented, though not exceptional.
Cons: The environment was noisy with loud music. Some menu items were not listed, so we had to ask the waiter to repeat what was said, which was difficult due to the noise.
Our experience: We were a party of four, ordering two pizzas & two pastas. The food arrived in a reasonable time. Prices were high for what you get (e.g., a Costco-style tiramisu for $13), but OK for 2025.
The atmosphere felt a bit off, with a manager (possibly the owner) constantly surveying the tables, checking everybody out multiple times (we saw the guy like 30 times staring at us, why?! ). Our table was near the kitchen, so other waiters kept stopping to comment on our food or preferences.
Our waiter came over at least ten times to check on us, taking everything off table without asking if finished, even taking our napkins before dessert was served. We ended up eating our dessert without napkins, & no one offered to replace them, which felt rushed-especially since it was only 2 PM & the restaurant closes around 4pm I guess. Overall, we could not enjoy our meals in the typical privacy of a restaurant.
The real issue came with the tiramisu. We ordered two, with one to have a candle for the birthday girl. They brought just one tiramisu saying they did not have more (which was fine) but no candle (understandable). When the bill came, we were charged $26 for two tiramisus. When we pointed out the mistake, the staff argued that they served both portions in a single container (a bowl about 2.5' in diameter, about 2' high, so not a huge size), insisting we had two pieces of tiramisu. After we refused to continue arguing, they redid the bill.
Still, they got a 15% tip (because we support local business), though we will most likely never return for the provided service & atmosphere.
Bottom line: While the food is decent, you can find a better overall experience elsewhere.
So happy to see Gentile open in the WI. Walking distance from our home. We have eaten here twice since they opened. It just gets better & better. We also tried the take out pizza promotion. We followed the instructions & the pizza came out perfectly.
Met my friend at Cafe Gentile West Island for a quick lunch. I came with an open mind due to the restaurant only being open 1 week. Both my friend & I were so impressed with the service & food!! Haven't stopped thinking about the mushroom pizza !!! Cannot wait to go back!!!
The food was so good from the pizza to the fish & pasta , one better than the other & the service was amazing . I will definitely be coming back with friends & family . 5 ⭐?
