Review Summary

Café Figata is an upbeat Italian spot where the food is praised for freshness, generous portions, and solid pasta dishes, with meatballs and seafood earning particular nods, while the vibe stays warm, lively, and unpretentious, making it a good pick for a casual night out or a date. Service is described as attentive and capable when busy, though a few visits note slower moments and occasional misfires in dishes like a burnt octopus or bland pasta, tempering otherwise strong impressions. The wine list and cocktails get good marks and the focaccia and burrata are commonly enjoyed, although some reviewers find prices steep and some dishes uneven. All in all Café Figata comes across as a dependable, well executed Italian option in Montreal that many diners would return to for reliable flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.

A restaurant that actually deserves the hype.

We went to Figata for dinner as a group of six two nights ago, & overall it was a great experience.

They sat us at a round table in the middle of the restaurant. At first, we thought it might be too small for six people, but it actually created a really nice atmosphere & made it easy for everyone to talk together. The vibe of the restaurant felt warm, friendly, & home-y.

Now for the food: my friend & I split the meatballs, the curly fries with the sauces on the side, & the mushroom pasta.

Meatballs: 10/10
Curly Fries: 9/10
Mushroom Pasta: 9/10

Overall, the food was delicious. I heavily recommend the meatballs especially. The curly fries & pasta were also great. I do feel like the pasta was missing a little something flavorwise, but it was still really good overall.

We also got dessert, the tiramisu: 7/10. It was good, but there was slightly too much cocoa powder, which overpowered the cream a bit & threw off the balance of the dessert.

Overall, definitely a spot worth trying if you're looking for a cozy dinner with friends & good comfort food.

At first we order 2 dishes & a dessert, but later on the pasta was so good we have to try another one lol. I don't know if these are the real Italian tastes but they suit well for us. I think the music is somehow is too loud so I cannot really hear the waitress. The restaurant was also very crowded so I recommend reservations, & also due to that, sometimes it took long for the waitress to notice us & the waiting time also a little bit long. Price is compatible with the quality.

Overall, the food is amazing & I'll come back! :-)

Pasta tasted like cardboard. Staff seemed judgmental. Not many meal options on the menu, Seating arrangements are way to close together. Save ur money & time & go elsewhere, don't trust what you see online. Very overhyped

A great place with delicious food, excellent pasta & not too noisy atmosphere. It was difficult to get a reservation - we waited almost two weeks. But we will definitely come back.

For a 3-week wait for a reservation (& it was a Wednesday) I had hoped for a bit more fanfare. This a neighbourhood resto, with casual dining. Fair prices, but limited menu. If you don't like pasta, there was 1 meat & 1 fish on the menu (& quite expensive IMO). I think once the hype dies down, we would go back. I wouldn't wait 3 weeks for the same menu.

There is a nice buzz - not a place for intimate dining...quite noisy. Staff was pleasant & service was good but slow...for pasta that concerns me. (Reservation clearly mentions 2 hours. It took 30 minutes for our first service.)

This resto is co-owned by the same owner when it was a bar...& it still feels like a bar - the bar area is quite prominent in the space, leaving little room for tables. Has potential...I wish them only the best - I like seeing the hood busy.

Was not a fan of the pasta, very bland & overpriced. Service was also mediocre. Wouldn't go back

Charcuterie board was good, could have used a less basic cheese though. The artichokes were a pleasantly unique touch but not sure why they were piled on the sun-dried tomatoes. The sun-dried tomatoes were delicious. The cured meat was nice. Olives were good quality. Maybe serve it on a board?
The focaccia wasn't really like any other focaccia I get at other places. It's passable with the above platter but otherwise I wouldn't get it.
The Zozzona was disappointing, you couldn't taste & barely could see the sausage. There was nothing to balance out the strong cheeses.
I enjoyed the funghi e tartufo, very solid mushroom pasta dish.
Tiramisu wasn't cut properly & was mostly mascarpone. Didn't really have enough flavour to it.
Overall I think more effort could be put into presentation.
My Negroni Terra was good, very similar to a typical Negroni.
Cute decor. Nice 80s music. Excellent service. Was very helpful with the wine. Called me when my friend forgot her bag, which was very appreciated.

Had a great experience at Restaurant Figata. Fun vibe, friendly service, & a really solid menu.

We shared a bunch of appetizers including the charcuterie board, focaccia, meatballs, Caesar salad, & burrata all delicious & perfect for the table. The pastas were just as good, & we finished with ice cream & tiramisu which hit the spot 🍝🍨

Newly opened & already feels like they're doing things right. The place was full & the energy showed it. Definitely worth a visit 👍

Overhyped, my mushroom pasta had no taste, the lamb skewers are like the ones you get at maxi frozen, the shrimp & calamari were horrible all the coating was falling off & soggy. The fries on the other hand are very good. Another problem was sitting right next to another couple we couldn't even talk without being heard or feeling comfortable. Not sure if ill be back.

Montréal you know very well I have an affinity for Italian food & all things pasta 🍝. Figata a new Italian restaurant in the Saint-Henri neighborhood has just opened its doors & is already making waves in the local food scene. From the moment you walk in you feel the comfort, vibe & passion from the chef to the wait staff. The food is generous & delicious from the polpette, to the caesar salad & pasta's especially our favorite orecchiette, mushrooms in a cream sauce.

A definite must try restaurant that should be on your list.

If there was a way to give more than 5 stars I would! Best cooked pasta I've had since being in Rome. Everything was delicious. Service , perfect & what a great vibrant yet low key atmosphere. A great evening overall. This place is going to be a big hit , get there before it gets even harder to get in!

Our experience was not what we expected. To begin with, I'm not a fan of how close the tables are to each other (see picture). We could hear the other couple's conversation, & of course they could hear ours, & the music didn't help. Terrible place for a date!
Then there's the food, which didn't feel like it had any quality or special ingredients. We ordered two appetizers:
Fritto Misto $26: a large plate of calamari, octopus, & shrimp. The plate is so large that the food at the bottom is full of oil, rubbery, & mushy. Not pleasant at all. Charcuterie plate $14: the cheese & charcuterie resemble what you would find at the supermarket. Terrible quality.
Main courses:
The Zozzona $28: the pasta didn't feel fresh & homemade, it was more like something bought at the supermarket, & the sauce was quite heavy & salty. It made my stomach hurt.
Funghi & Tartufo $26: stale, bland pasta with mushrooms & truffles, cream, & butter. Nothing special. We ordered dessert since we were celebrating a birthday, we ordered the dessert of the day for $14, which ended up being a lemon tart that didn't feel like it had been made recently, with cream cheese & a little lemon. We had two cocktails that were okay, but in the end they felt watered down.
In summary, the bill came to $185, for an unpleasant, expensive experience with mediocre food, therefore, I would not recommend the restaurant & would not return. In my opinion, there are better Italian restaurants in Montreal.

Fries - mid. Felt even under-salted. Crispy; I liked the shape, but the bowl came barely filled because the sauce cups took up so much room. There were a lot of scraps (half curlies, even 1/3rd curlies). -5
Meat sauce - boring, like just simple meat sauce.
Béchamel - good, okay sauce felt kind of like a mushroom saice.
The concept seems fun, but the flavours felt a little flat.
Caesar - good, very anchovy-forward!! -7.7
Perfect amount of parmesan - I liked it. If you don't like anchovies, you might not enjoy it (there were also some stray anchovies in the bowl). Some pieces were so saucy, I enjoyed that. Lettuce was fresh & good, but no croutons (she said she'd give us non-bacon ones, but we didn't get them) - still enjoyed it. Definitely an acquired taste.
Mushroom - noodle al dente a bit; I liked the noodle shape. It was good. While I love mushrooms, it felt almost like too many. Good, but Amerigo mushroom pasta is even better (though this was the best of the bunch). 7
Tomato - interesting spice. There was something a little weird in the sauce, like an unrecognizable, earthy flavour. I liked the shape, but it was solid average - nothing outstanding, literally just a tomato sauce with cheese. -5
Vodka - disappointing . Spice overpowering; doesn't taste like vodka sauce at all. Besides spice, it has no flavour whatsoever. Homemade is honestly better. -4
Service - good. They filled our water often. Our waitress was nice. Good romantic ambiance, dark, so if you're someone who pulls out a flashlight in dark restaurants, beware your flashlight will be out. Cute vibe - it's Italian, homey( with the tablecloths), but with a more fancy vibe.
All in all, everyone I went with, myself included, rated it between 5-6. for the total restaurant experience food wise.
It's a try-once-&-go-back-to-your-comfort-spot kind of place. Definitely overrated, & I wouldn't go back, just a place you try because everyone is posting on TikTok.
