Review Summary

At Café Central Portugais, the reviews describe an authentic Portuguese dining spot with a warm, convivial atmosphere and a popular terrace, where friendly staff and traditional dishes like sardines, cod and pork are frequently praised, though experiences vary with some cod dishes noted as overcooked and very salty and a few items such as the sandwich not meeting expectations, while practical notes about cash only payments, ATM fees and pricing concerns are also mentioned.

Good food, very nice staff, anyway,if I ordered clams I expected to have some bread with them.
No bread.The sauce was delicious.
We've been told that the POS is not working, so, we have to pay cash.
The bill arrived wit the 20% tip included.

Super tasty food, olives & bread brought as a starter, very fast service, great location. Cash only, so bring some with you or there is an atm inside for a $3.50 charge

Totally overpriced. $25 for a few pieces of overcooked fish & rice, $5 for a coffee, after tax & tip it was $40 for lunch! Then they tell you it's cash only but there is an ATM... with a $3.50 fee! Every dep in the neighbourhood is $2.00. Despite the fish being overcooked, it was tasty & the service was friendly. But there are so many better options around that I will never be coming back.

The moment i stepped in this place something magical happened & I was transported immediately in Portugal. Great smells & very noisy, very casual & full of good vibes. The menu is full of incredible Portuguese dishes & the coffee is delicious. I have tried also the pasteis de nata & I think it was a sweeter & les crunchier version of the original one. One thing you should keep in mind when coming here is that this is a cash only place.

My mother, sister-in-law, & I were in the mood for coffee after having dinner at a nearby restaurant on a Tuesday. We arrived at the café around 9:30 PM. Three Portuguese patrons occupied seats at the bar while Portuguese news played on the televisions. It was well-lit, & the absence of music was a welcome contrast to our loud dinner. We ordered 3 "café com leite", 3 flans, & 1 pastel de nata at the counter—all for just $24. Domingos, who graciously attended to our order at the counter, was warm & made us feel welcome; we spoke to him in Spanish while he responded in Portuguese. He brought our flans to the table & offered to splash them with Cointreau, to which we happily agreed. Once we were done with our desserts, he kindly treated us to a glass of Porto while we talked about Venezuela (our home country) & the Portuguese diaspora who lived there. It was the perfect ending for our weeknight out. Make sure to bring cash, since it's cash only.
