The service was great, but the food was subpar. The oyster was not fresh, the beef tartare barely had any beef (it was mostly a mix of vegetables), & lobster was a bit too fishy. Wouldn't recommend the food here, but the drink selection is great.View more

Visiting & a local showed me Cadet. Amazing atmosphere, great service, food portions are small, but the quality definitely justifies the portion size. Would recommend for a nice date or celebration spot, tapas style.View more

Cadet was EXCEPTIONAL!!! From the minute we arrived, we had a lovely greeting from the hostess who sat us by the window. The dining room is deceptively large as it widens the further back you go with a long bar along the side. It is a very modern, simplistic, light & airy look & vibe. Our waitress was personable, professional, & prompt which added to our wonderful dining experience. Our drinks were delicious & our meal was SUPERB!!! Every dish came out beautifully presented, amazing flavors, & delicious upon every bite. We look forward to our next visit & HIGHLY recommend!View more

The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegant & relaxed - a welcome contrast to the bustling city. It gave us the space to actually unwind & have a proper conversation, which is often rare these days.
The food? Absolutely divine. We shared a beautifully prepared plate of black cod, which practically melted in our mouths. Alongside it, we enjoyed their soft & savoury focaccia, tender scallops, perfectly cooked oyster mushrooms, & some of the best calamari I've had in ages.
What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. As someone who's lactose intolerant, I'm used to a bit of back-&-forth when dining out - but not here. The waiting staff kindly curated a personalized list of everything on the menu I could enjoy without worry, & I was incredibly grateful for that extra care.
All in all, Cadet is an absolute must if you're after a delicious, mindful dining experience in Montreal. Highly recommend for a memorable night out!View more

This restaurant has an extensive & classy cocktail menu as well as a nice wine list. The food was delicious & each dish had multiple components. The portions were very small & since we were a party of 4, it was sometimes difficult to share the dishes since there was not enough of each ingredient to share. I highly recommend the fried sea bass with cabbage slaw. The service started out strong when the restaurant was empty but got worse as the night went on. It took a very long time for our water to be refilled once the restaurant filled up & we did not order dessert since we could not catch the waitress' attention for a long time. I enjoyed the flavour of all the dishes & it was clear that they were all meticulously crafted but the price was relatively high for what we got & I think that Montreal has plenty of comparable restaurants which are not as expensive. I'm glad I tried this place but I'm not sure if I will not return.View more

What a fantastic spot for a pre-show meal before heading to Place des Arts. The calamari is a standout-perfectly cooked with a sauce that's irresistible, especially when paired with their fresh bread for dipping. Our server was incredibly attentive & made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it ideal for sharing a meal with friends or a date. So.... maybe I failed on taking photos of the dishes before we ate ... I think the empty plates speak volumes. This was a recommendation from a local... & they did not disappoint. Excellent sharing plates. We had a good number of them. They were inventive, whimsical & delicious! To note... the croquettes, the beet salad, the leeks, the broccoli.. the wine selection was extensive.. we chose a little known Sicilian white wine... it was excellent. The service was beyond reproach. Our server Mathilde made excellent recommendations. Her service was attentive without being overbearing & always with a smile. We will be back. Cadet is a fantastic spot for sharing delicious & sophisticated tapas-style dishes. The service is quick, professional, & efficient, making it an ideal choice for a pre-show dinner before heading to the orchestra or ballet. The only downside is that the tables are quite close to each other, so it can get a bit loud when it's crowded & depending on where you're seated. Overall, I still highly recommend it!View more

My parents & I stumbled across this place for an early dinner after shopping. Honestly, we were stunned at our experience! The food is magical, each dish had the perfect amount of flavour & creativity. Our server took extremely good care of us, my water glass was literally never empty. I highly recommend this place, if you go early enough, there isn't a line - I do think they take reservations, although we didn't make one. What an amazing restaurant. We are in Montreal for a weekend visit & had the best meal in a very long time at Cadet (our first but not last visit). Plates are smaller for sharing, tapas style. We ordered 5 dishes & 2 desserts for 2 people. Total bill with 2 bottles of sparkling water (no alcohol) came to $160 before tip. Every bite was delicious & prepared to perfection, & the service attentive, friendly & quick. The atmosphere a perfect mix of lively while still being able to hold a conversation. We will definitely come back here & highly recommend Cadet for a great experience. Original & unique plates, every single one was spot clean after we were done. Everything we had was delicious, by order of preference : 1) Brocoli (house specialty, don't miss it but it is quite heavy) 2) scallops 3) beef tartare 4) salmon 5] lamb chops (despite being highly reviewed, we found it to be pretty basic & the least impressive yet still okay) 6) bread pudding (not great, would recommend trying another dessert)View more

The place was full on a Sunday evening! We split 7 dishes between three people. The fingerling potatoes with chimichuri were deliciously crispy, the broccoli with labneh & the carrot salad were filling. We also had a cod croquette each & I think we wish we all had another each. The chicken thigh dish was a salad of sorts but went well with the carrot salad. The risotto was rich & creamy. The calamari was disappointing- it didn't feel like the flavours went together & the dish was too wide so it got cold quite quickly. Highly recommend this spot!View more
