The staff was friendly & very good about my allergies. All the dishes we tried were delicious. The standout dishes for me were the risotto & the lamb-both well-executed & full of flavor. Would definitely go back.View more
Great dinner! Portions are small, but the dishes were all amazing! The leek dish was very unique & I enjoyed it thoroughly!View more
The restaurant offers creative dishes with something for everyone - a real highlight! Make sure to try the focaccia, it's an absolute must. One small tip: the dining room is heavily air-conditioned, so bringing a jacket is highly recommended.View more
Slightly over salted for the two main dishes. Except that the others are perfect. Great service!View more
My new favorite restaurant. Everything is on point & so delicious. Cocktails are the most delicious & strong which is what i like. Service is very attentive & they take personal not seriously. I will definitely go back to try more menu.
P.s. the only thing I should tell others is the dish is quite small. We ordered like 6 dishes + 1 dessert & 2 cocktails & I did not feel so full after & my body size is quite small. So i think u should order at least 3 dishes per person to be full or nearly full.View more
One of the best dining experiences I've had in Montreal so far. Creative tasty dishes, good service & atmosphere. Ordered four dishes for two of us & that's a bit too much. There would have been perfect.View more
Found this place in the Michelin Guide. We were told 2 dishes per person would be sufficient, so we ordered 4 dishes plus a focaccia (for 2 people). This order was split into a 2 course serving, both of which took a while to arrive. Unfortunately, all the dishes we ordered turned out to be very small (except for the black cod), so the focaccia was absolutely necessary. I feel they should have recommended 3 dishes per person, as I believe without the focaccia we would have left the restaurant hungry (we didn't take dessert). The quality of the food was great, but the overall experience didn't give me the'wow' factor.View more
Asked the waiter for gluten free options, she clarified if it was an intolerance or celiac, I said celiac. She came back 10 minutes later with a piece of paper with all the GF options written !! Whenever they brought the food they specified which dishes were GF & which weren't. Great experience ! Amazing foodView more
Beautiful spot. We had read that the tables are a bit cramped so we chose to sit at the bar & it was the perfect choice. Lots of elbow room & fun to be up with the action.
We shared the hamachi, beef tartare, black cod & oyster mushrooms, as well as the chocolate tart. All but the hamachi were excellent - particularly the black cod & mushrooms. The hamachi was good, just not at the same level as the other dishes. Perhaps lacking a bit of zing for my taste.
The service was wonderful - attentive, helpful but not too much. The atmosphere is casual & elegant. You'd be as comfortable wearing jeans & a nice shirt as in business casual.
I've read others' negative comments about the size of dishes & have to disagree. We eat at sharing style restaurants quite often & found this to be very much in line -if not a bit more generous than many. Particularly with this level of culinary skill. Teh recommendation was for 4- 5 dishes between 2, & we were very content with just 4. We could have skipped dessert & been content but gave into the temptation & were glad we did!View more
Hands down our favorite meal of the trip. Small to large shareable dishes that were all delicious! Space was hip & modern & they also had a nice wine list.View more
Great atmosphere, great food.
This is the place where dishes are expected to be shared , hence, the size is not big, so order more than one per person. I actually like it that way, more fun.
The beet salad was brilliant. Mix of different salad leaves, radishes, beets, goat cheese - everything worked out perfectly together.
The squid was prepared masterfully.
Foccacia nicely charred. The only thing I suggest to skip is cod croquettes, too chewy.
Good wine list.View more
wow, blown away by the creation of dishes & flavour palette that this restaurant offers. Pretty good wine too.View more
This restaurant has an extensive & classy cocktail menu as well as a nice wine list. The food was delicious & each dish had multiple components. The portions were very small & since we were a party of 4, it was sometimes difficult to share the dishes since there was not enough of each ingredient to share. I highly recommend the fried sea bass with cabbage slaw. The service started out strong when the restaurant was empty but got worse as the night went on. It took a very long time for our water to be refilled once the restaurant filled up & we did not order dessert since we could not catch the waitress' attention for a long time. I enjoyed the flavour of all the dishes & it was clear that they were all meticulously crafted but the price was relatively high for what we got & I think that Montreal has plenty of comparable restaurants which are not as expensive. I'm glad I tried this place but I'm not sure if I will not return.View more
Unfortunately, it was nothing to rave about. Staff was very friendly, our waiter was a bit too busy & didn't ask us once how the food was. I would have liked to give him the feedback that the octopus had a very unpleasant texture, almost powdery. We order octopus often & are used to rubbery texture when overcooked but this was a very unpleasant strange texture. We also ordered the stuffed mushroom which our waiter had recommended & the taste was so blah, dry, we only ate 2 of the 4 mushrooms. The best dish was the foccacia & the broccoli with Spätzle. We expected more for the price of the dishesView more
So.... maybe I failed on taking photos of the dishes before we ate ... I think the empty plates speak volumes. This was a recommendation from a local... & they did not disappoint. Excellent sharing plates. We had a good number of them. They were inventive, whimsical & delicious! To note... the croquettes, the beet salad, the leeks, the broccoli.. the wine selection was extensive.. we chose a little known Sicilian white wine... it was excellent. The service was beyond reproach. Our server Mathilde made excellent recommendations. Her service was attentive without being overbearing & always with a smile. We will be back. Thank you again for an excellent experience! We will certainly recommend you to our friends. AndrewView more
Good dinner at Cadet, the fried sea bass was delicious, & enjoyed the duck, tomato + burrata, & beets dishes. Gnocchi dish wasn't worth the price, I'd skip it. Chocolate tart was 100% worth it. Service felt a bit rushed, & the mains could have been paced better. Appreciated the non alcoholic drink options!View more
Visiting from out of town & was recommended to check out this place. The dishes are inventive & DELICIOUS. You won't find the same dish from elsewhere as they may it uniquely. as many reviewers have said this place is best. If you have someone to share your dishes with the portion varies but all of them share a common thing. They're all really good. It may seem the price is on the higher side, but when you think of the experience is comparable to a tasting menu. This is in fact a stealView more
Cadet is a fantastic spot for sharing delicious & sophisticated tapas-style dishes. The service is quick, professional, & efficient, making it an ideal choice for a pre-show dinner before heading to the orchestra or ballet. The only downside is that the tables are quite close to each other, so it can get a bit loud when it's crowded & depending on where you're seated. Overall, I still highly recommend it!View more
Our best meal in Montreal! The food & cocktails were stunning - highly recommend the focaccia with chili oil (we got two orders), the salmon dish with watermelon & yuzu, & the bread pudding for dessert (wow). Can't wait to come back & try more dishes!View more
Based on reviews, we were excited to dine at Le Cadet. But - the experience did not live up to expectation at all. Service was neither attentive nor very present. Had to ask a few times to order a second drink. Food was very average - not at all the quality or innovation that was hyped. Calamari dish was drowning in luke warm chili oil & was on the cooler side of room temperature. Beef tartare had the taste & texture of aged beef, though not mentioned as such on the menu, & the service didn't seem to know how it was prepared when we asked. Cod croquettes were ok but a dish that could be found anywhere. Gnocci was ordered without ham (due to allergies) but came served with ham anyway. Broccoli & contre filet were tasty. The spicy sauce that accompanied the foccacia was overpowering for such delicate bread. The menu is served tapas-style, & it was recommended that we order 3 dishes per person. We ordered 2 per person, which was absolutely enough, & in hindsight was probably a few dishes too many. Atmosphere was a bit boring.View more
We had a superb meal at Cadet. 2 adults & a child had 5 plates plus the focaccia & we were stuffed. I think the steak plate counts as two. Each dish was unique & meticulously prepared. The beans (green beans) was an excellent salad like dish with many flavors & textures. It took me a minute to figure out unwrapping the leeks instead of cutting them & they were a good texture in a nice sauce. Our two favorite dishes were the ratte potatoes (great sauce) & the beets. The server recommended a very nice cocktail for my wife & I hade an excellent glass of wine.View more
What a great experience - The vibe is very cool, good house music in the background, not too loud so conversation is easy. Our server was friendly, timely, & the wait staff are well coordinated. We started off with 2 house cocktails (gin / mezcal ) which were delicious, shared 3 plates, 2 glasses of wine & a dessert. The salmon & broccoli dishes were amazing, as was the bread pudding. The table next to us was raving about their plates too. Perfect amount of food to share for 2. Reasonably priced (under $200 with good tip) for food quality, presentation, service & location. We loved it - definitely go back to try other dishes on the menu.View more
We went here for a night out this past Saturday & it was fantastic. The ambiance, the staff, service, food & drink were superb! We had 5 dishes & they were excellent. We had the razor clams(to die for), the brocolli, the leek, the veal cheeks & the fried sea bass. Cannot wait to return, it was topnotch.View more
One of my best dining experiences in Montreal. The unassuming exterior gives way to a classy dining room where you can see some of the kitchen at work. The menu is all about sharing & has both smaller plates & larger items. Standout dishes among a dinner that was made up of all winners were the oyster mushrooms, tomato & burrata salad, & duck. The duck includes foie gras & is counterbalanced with a selection of veg & pear that is quite unique. One small plate per person & a larger one between two will satisfy the not so hungry & keep space for dessert.View more
Some dishes were fantastic, some were more of a miss. Service was excellent. Try the lobster rolls. Avoid the steak, it was very mediocre, especially at the price point. Bathrooms were very dirtyView more
I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately our experience was rather underwhelming. The dishes lacked flavour & were mostly bland. I wanted to like the short ribs but it was served cold! The service was really slow, too! There are much better restaurants in town at this price point.View more
Dishes are hit & miss The scallops were amazing. The snow crab pancakes were delicious except there was shell in the snow crab. The eggplant dish was not good. The cheesecake was fantastic.View more
I think this is a secret gem of Montreal. I went with a friend who is not a big food person & they loved it. The small plates were imaginative, beautiful & delicious. She ate one of the dishes with gusto - I've known her for decades & never saw her take such joy in food. I love to eat & I adored this place.View more
Innovative, flavorful dishes in a buzzy atmosphere. The broccoli with spaetzle & the gnocchi with pork were standouts. Oh, & the oysters! Only dud was the tartare. Not bad, just boring.View more
Stellar meal. Dishes were on point. Good value for money. Service was friendly & attentive without being overbearing. Varied winelist offering options for all tastes & budgets. A little noisy but still a pleasant experience.View more
