I recently visited Cabane à Sucre Constantin & had a mixed experience. The food itself was quite good & lived up to expectations for a traditional sugar shack meal. However, the overall experience was impacted by a long wait - about an hour - which was frustrating.
At $45 per person, it's definitely on the pricier side, so I was expecting a smoother & more complete service. Unfortunately, we never received the poached eggs that were supposed to be part of the dessert, which was disappointing.
Overall, good food, but improvements in service & organization would make a big difference.
I didn't expected much but I was very pleased with my visit. Parking is easy, you'll be guided to where to park. Then there is a line to get tickets & then to be seated, make sure that by the time you reach it your whole group is there. The line may stall for quite some time but then moves rapidly as they do the seating in large batches. So don't be discouraged if you are not moving for some time. You can buy beer while waiting in line. The service is excellent. Very friendly staff. The food is tasty & well balanced to accommodate different preferences. The atmosphere is good but due to the size of the venue you don't really feel being out in the nature. But overall highly recommend!
I was extremely disappointed with all of the food. Nothing was prepared authentically the baked beans were underwhelming there was no bacon (bajoues), no milk or water to drink. Little hot dogs that they usually cook in maple syrup were boiled in water. As for dessert , waiter said we can only have 1 choice. I have been coming to this place for many years & as the years go on, I'm more & more disappointed. Not impressed about sharing the bread , Cretons & condiments with strangers. Definitely will not be returning another year.
This is my personal experience based on the table I was sitting at. The food is very good, the ambiance is nice & price just right. This being said, the service was lacking big time. For a bigger group different plates were placed only at one end, becoming hard to reach without being passed through several hands. Every 4 to 6 people should have acces to the dishes, then more dishes should be brought for the rest of the group. The server would come only to bring food or remove empty plates. She almost ordered us what to do with the plates. If you needed anything, noone to ask. When you do ask, she said sure, but then left & started chatting with other customers forgetting what she was supposed to do. A lot of people were waving to her to get some cofee. They finally got it, but the rest were ignored & not offered any. At the end, when about to stand up to leave, she asked if we needed anything else...
Based on experience, I won't come back again.
