Review Summary

Many reviews of Cabane à sucre Au Pied de Cochon describe an indulgent, gastronomy-forward sugar shack experience with inventive, generously portioned courses and attentive staff who explain each dish, creating a festive yet refined atmosphere and solid value for the amount of food, with some guests enjoying bar seating and the option to take leftovers home; while the restaurant is praised for its energy and conviviality, a few critics note uneven service, occasional delays, and dishes that are very rich or heavy, and some point to price versus portions and occasional temperature or noise issues.

Very welcoming & efficient staff. So many delicious courses for the money. We enjoyed being seated at the bar.

Drove up from Boston after making a reservation a month ago for a Friday night 8pm dinner seating. We had no idea what to expect but when we arrived there was a bonfire outside & a table to buy canned drinks while you waited. Loved the fire! The 5pm seating was running a bit late so we hung out for a bit & were seated at 820ish. We were a table of 2. Would go back with a large group since the menu is family style & the ambiance of the restaurant feels best for a group dinner!
We sat at the bar & Max the bartender was awesome - super attentive & made the experience even better.
The food was amazing, & we took home quite a bit of leftovers. We had no idea what to expect since you don't receive a menu & were told to pace ourselves but it is hard when everything is so good! Every dish was different & creative, playing on the seasonal ingredients of late September. The wine list was extensive & we went with a bottle that was amazing, as well as a cocktail & espresso to end the evening. Our favorite dishes happened to be the first two amouse bouches of the evening! 10/10 would recommend & go back.

My first time in this legendary place. Went for the 3pm seating which gave us plenty of time to take a leisurely stroll in the woods. Sat at the bar. Comfortable high chairs with foot rest. Wonderful, attentive service from the bartender. The meal was delicious!!! Everything was 5 stars except maybe the salads. I'd give them a 4.5 star rating. Good, but not at the exquisite level of the rest of the meal. I'll definitely be back for their sugar shack menu next year.

Experienced the end of harvest dinner. There were a couple stand out dishes like the bison carpaccio, the ratatouille tart & the tomato soup. All of the other dishes were ok however the fennel salad was bland. Service was mixed- some waiters were attentive while others forgot to replace our cutlery in two occasions (while at other tables it was done right away) or asked the same question over & over, clearly having a miss communication. The drinks, specially the margarita, were on point though- kudos to the bartender.

It was the first time I visited & ate at this restaurant. I eat out quite a lot, & I must say that this was one of the very BEST restaurant experiences I ever had. My sister & I LOVED EVERY DISH. The food, service, atmosphere & everything about this restaurant was top-notch. I give everything a five star - Down to their self control toilet with a bidet... lol Their amazing staff at the bar: Catherine, Maxim, Bernard & Vivian were such Beautiful people... I LOVED EVERY MINUTE & will definitely be back & will tell the whole world about this awesome place. I have never sat at a bar in a restaurant before, & at first I was not crazy about the bar seat. But let me tell you I will ONLY sit at the bar moving forward at this restaurant... BEST SERVICE & EXPERIENCE HANDS DOWN. Bravo to the amazing owner & staff .....

it was our first time (2 ppl) at the au pied de cochon's cabane à sucre & we left with a good experience but wouldn't return as it wasn't suitable for our palette. we arrived for our reservation time at 8:30 pm & left at 11:30 pm. pros: - meal highlights: tomato tart, butternut squash soup, burrata + fruit salad, pork + duck shepherd's pie & carrot cake - our servers/bartenders (we were seated at the bar) were friendly, & explained all our dishes clearly. they also had quick water pouring service! very impressive - generous amount of food - we took home 3 tupperwares - a new & nice experience for us - fire outside to keep folks warm cons: - does not accommodate dietary restrictions (which is highlighted on the website) - upon arrival it was hard to get ahold of the host to notify her that we were there as she was running around & very busy - we were seated at the bar where it was hard to get in & out of the seats due to the heavy chairs, so our servers would need to physically come from behind to push us into our seats - despite the above mentioned, people were constantly pressing into my seat & i was being knocked - with our menu highlights in mind, it didn't seem like the meal was too worth it because we weren't too big of a fan of the other dishes - my personal take: i learned from this meal that im not a fan of foie gras, which is a staple & included in several dishes

Reservation this year was online starting on Dec 1st. You can reserve for 2 people, but you'll seated at the bar. I've never had such a decadent sugar shack experience, literally foie gras in 1/3 of all the dishes. It was delicious & was stuffed by the time the entrees came. The waiters were bustling everywhere but still took the time to explain each item & filled out cups. The great thing is that you can bring your own Tupperware to bring it back.
