Review Summary

Buvette Pompette is widely celebrated as a charming neighborhood spot that excels at creating a warm, festive, and relaxed atmosphere for friends and family. Many guests highlight the exceptional quality of the tapas, noting standout dishes like the octopus, patatas bravas, and cod fritters, which pair perfectly with an impressive and thoughtfully curated selection of wines and creative cocktails. The staff frequently receives high praise for being passionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, often going the extra mile to provide personalized recommendations. While the dining experience is a favorite for many, some visitors suggest that the portion sizes during specific promotional events can be quite small, but overall, the restaurant remains a beloved destination known for its professional service and vibrant energy.

Found it strange that for a restaurant of this calibre you have to pour you own water, but the service was good overall. I don't know if I went on a bad night but the food was terrible. I don't feel good saying that, but the food didn't taste great. Strangely, everything I had was smoky: the patatas bravas, the paella & the croquetas. Love Spanish cuisine but don't recommend this place if that's what you're looking fo

I'm so glad I got to try this restaurant. The vibe & atmosphere was super great. I don't know if I misunderstood our waiter but I think her name was Camille & I think she was (part..full?) owner of the restaurant. Whoever she was, was ABSOLUTELY personable & fantastic. She went above & beyond to ensure that my husband's cousin's celiac disease was taken seriously which was super important. She was honest & transparent about it which made us like her even more. I can't believe i didn't take any pictures of the food but im not gonna lie, those patata's bravas & the pieuvre we're pretty darn good! Also, it's worth noting that "j'capote" cocktail was soooo dangerously tasty. I mean, really really good.

Food was hit or miss. We shared the octopus, pork loin, pan con tomates, patatas bravas, coppa, & manchego. Octopus was overcooked but we liked the couscous salad that comes with it. We weren't a fan of the pork. Patatas bravas & pan con tomates were really good. As for the service & atmosphere, both were good.

In the past few weeks I've been trying out a bunch of wine bars in Montreal & this is by far my favourite!!

Although the wine list seems to be focused on Northern/Eastern Europe you can quickly tell that the primary goal is to serve the best bottles from places that are often overlooked. As a German I was so happy to find not only a dry riesling but other grape varieties like Müller-Thurgau that are otherwise impossible to find. In Montreal I've oftentimes found that servers at wine bars look down on you if you don't look to be as oenologically trained as they are. Here it was the opposite. A lovely employee asked about my preferred taste notes & reccommended 3 great bottles to choose from. They seemed genuinely excited about me trying something new & as a result I found a wine I would have otherwise never tried. Take note that the prices are a bit elevated but given the limitations on importing wine to QC & the therefore lacking variety at the SAQ, it's definitely worth every penny.

The food was also delicious & pairs well with the offered wines. Anything from fresh oysters to hearty patatas bravas (that are actually crispy) will be a nice addition to an aperitif or a relaxed wine night.

All in all it was a wonderful experience that I hope to repeat very soon & happily recommend to anyone that wants to experiment with delicious wines.
