Eat here everytime I'm in Tremblant. Typically being a younger person going out to fine dining I don't always get treated the same as everybody else but this place never lets me down. Jesse is my go to server & one of the best I've ever had at any restaurant.
Choux Gras certainly qualifies as a fine dining restaurant & generally lives up to the Fairmont Hotels standard. We've been to 4 so far. The part of the meal that stands out the most was our waiter, Jesse, who is very experienced & attentitive. He noticed that our oysters were taking too long to come out of the kitchen so he came back twice to apologize for the delay & then when he delivered them to our table he announced our cocktails were on the house.
The oysters were good ones from New Brunswick, the presentation was ordinary.
My wife's filet mignon was perfectly cooked but a little cool by the time it hit the table. I had a delicious appetizer that included fois gras & some figs but the young lady who served us but didn't explain it. Sorry if that sounds picky, but it's one of those details that you expect fine dining restaurants to be attentive to. Same goes for the busboy who started to remove my delicious but still unfinished onion soup.
The venue is quite nice & decorated in a tidy modern style but the acoustic experience was not so pleasant. The restaurant shares the bar with the adjacent establishment so there is an opening between the two of them. That evening there was a noisy cocktail party going on at the bar & the noise from it was very noticeable. Top that off with a background music playlist that sounded like a piano bar singer on Valium singing old pop & rock songs with a computer for a backup band. One employee (not Jesse) mentioned that this playlist has been going on for 5 years & it has become tortuous. So I recommend you wear your ear pods or plugs to enhance your dining experience.
