This place was beautiful. The atmosphere is elegant & welcoming. The noise level is great for conversation. We really appreciated that it wasn't loud. They made my great uncles celebration very special. Service was excellent, she was attentive by topping up our wine when needed, a dish came out a bit cold they recooked the whole plate quickly enough, she also brought out a surprise dessert with sparkler. Food was excellent! The food was seasoned perfectly & everyone in our party was happy with taste & presentation. We tried the duck, octopus, Arctic char & lamb, plus a few desserts. Pavlova is incredible. Thank you again for a special evening.
Quel bel endroit! Nous avons passé un bon moment avec d'excellentes assiettes. On a même reçu un dessert surprise parce que c'était notre anniversaire de mariage. Le personnel est très présent malgré des problèmes de serveur informatique, il se démène pour que rien ne paraissent...c'est tout à leur honneur, vu le nombre de clients à servir. Les plats comme les desserts sont bons mais si je regrette un magret de canard un peu trop cuit.
Le problème c'est le service. C'est d'un long c'est pas permis. De surcroît le restaurant n'était pas plein
The environment was amazing, & the quality of the food was excellent. We ordered the salmon & steak - both were incredibly tender with a perfectly balanced taste. The sauce for the salmon was absolutely heavenly.
I also tried the Coco Fraise mocktail, which was delicious; the coconut flavor was very pronounced, & I really loved it.
We were celebrating our anniversary, & for dessert, we ordered a crème brûlée, which the restaurant kindly offered on the house. It made our experience even more special.
The staff were super kind & helpful. Despite being a busy Saturday night, the food was served quite fast.
We were a group of 7, celebrating my birthday & went during the Happening Gourmand event. We all ordered off the HG menu ($49, choice of appetizer, main, dessert from a fixed menu) . The food was absolutely delicious, no matter the choice. However, we would have liked to have had our coffee at the same time as dessert, & not after it was finished, & the cappuccino was only lukewarm.
Très jolie brasserie près de la cathédrale. Nous y avons très bien mangé.

Brasserie 701 was my restaurant of choice for my Christmas morning brunch! It did not disappoint! My server Tristan went above & beyond- he was incredibly busy but still made time to offer a few suggestions around Montreal "from a local". I really appreciated this banter as he gave me tips & tricks & insider info on the places I was already planning to visit. Once a year I award a server 100% tip for being incredible, & Tristan was my 2024 recipient! Thank you so much! The buffet was officially supposed to begin at 10am. I was seated around 950 & everyone was floundering about setting up the buffet. It seemed like nobody was in charge & everybody was unsure of their role. I didn't even get water or a Bonjour until about 1020! But it was smooth sailing from then on out! There was a hot table with beef bourginon, eggs Benedict & salmon. The cold table featured different salads- classic Caesar, beet salad & quinoa salad. The dessert table was far off on the side & I'm not sure many people even saw it (I was sitting across from it). The sunshine hits in the most lovely way through the windows of Brasserie 701. It's perfect for taking photos! The building is beautiful from the outside as well! It's right down the street from Notre Dame basilica. Thank you for the loveliest way to spend Christmas morning!

Our server was Jamie. She gave us a good service & she is welcoming. We asked for recommendations around the city because it's our first time, she gave us many suggestion. I was almost ready to leave but she surprised me with a dessert. Best way to have my bday lunch. ❤️
Ambiance cozy, personnel courtois,cuisine raffiné,prix raisonnables. Service un peu lent pour un dîner.J'aurais beaucoup aimé goûter au dessert mais j'ai manqué de temps. J'avais prévu 1 heure assis mais la cuisine à pris plus de 30min a sortir le potage di jour. La prochaine fois car c'était trop bon!
Soooo disappointed. Unfortunately a large conference group invaded the restaurant/bar just after we arrived for drinks & they were so loud, my wife & I had to yell to each other across a small table. We explained the situation, he nodded in agreement then proceeded to identify a table thst was even worse. We ask about some unoccupied tables & we're told they were reserved. This was 630pm, when we left at 840pm, that group of tables was still unoccupied. Really? That really ruined the dinner all by itself & was nit accommodating at all. Server spologized again. We wanted wine & they have a good wine list but only 3 red choices & 3 white choices...really subpar. Server agreed & apologized yet again. But we made do. Half a dozen oysters & minimal condiments - again, totally unexpected. Another apology. We had lamb & fish entrees, both cold...prepared nicely but stone cold. He didn't apologize because he was no where to be found. But he did apologize when he cleared the dishes. About 20 minutes later, he reappeared & asked if we wanted dessert...by that point, we need to escape asap. We were hotel guests & that service reflected really poorly on the Hotel D'Armes. There was nothing remotely redeeming about 701.
Was searching for a spot to eat in & tried this place as a walk-in. Even though we had no reservations, they seated us at one of their high tables in the corner & we had some great people watching views. Food & service was great. Too full to try the desserts.

Bonjour J'ai été à votre restaurant pour fêter mon anniversaire le dimanche surpassé, J'y étais avec des amis. L'accueil était correct, le service parfait. Nous étions servi toute la soirée par un jeune homme de couleur ébène désolé j'ai pas retenu son nom. Il était vraiment très convivial. Le repas était bon j'ai pris le conflit de canard avec une bouteille de vin & en dessert j'ai reçu une crème brûlée, je m'attendais à une tranche de gâteau mais la Crème brûlée était excellente.. par contre la mousse au chocolat trop sucré pour mes amis. Merci.
J'ai été à ce resto pour un anniversaire. Nous étions dans la salle privée au fond du resto & nous avions le menu table d'hôte à 70$. En entrée, j'ai mangé des escargots pour la première fois & c'était très bon! Pour le plat principal, j'ai pris le steak & frites. La cuisson du steak était telle que demandée. J'ai trouvé les frites un peu trop cuites. Le dessert au matcha était correct. Côté service c'était correct, les délais d'attente étaient raisonnables. Je n'ai juste pas aimé l'accueil. À notre arrivée, nous attendions que quelqu'un vienne nous accueillir, mais nous avons été ignorés. Plusieurs employés passaient à côté de nous sans même nous porter attention. Il a fallu que je m'impose à un employé pour qu'on nous emmène à la salle privée. Ça nous a un peu déçu.
I came here for a weekday dinner & the restaurant was almost full when I arrived. I got lucky that I had a reservation. It's located perfectly within walking distance from both Notre Dame & old port. I really liked the vibe; many groups were enjoying their food, drinks or dessert. The staff are helpful & friendly. I originally came in for an appetizer, but the dessert menu was so attractive that I decided to go with appetizer & dessert. I got lucky that they weren't out of escargot. So I tried "Escargot in Parsley Sauce" after my complementary bread & butter. I really like the combination of parsley sauce with olives & puff pastry. I also enjoyed "Rocher Praliné" for my dessert. I'm happy I hadn't had my main course as it is very rich.
My colleague from Montreal suggested this spot because it was closer to my hotel. We went for lunch & it was fantastic. The decor & ambiance were cool modern Montreal chic mixed with old world French charm. My Quebecoise ami just have that "je na sais quoi". The service level was excellent. The server was just always there at the right moment. My food was well prepared & very favourable. The dessert was too sure for.
