You're limiting food waste & allowing people without a lot of extra spending room to enjoy your amazing products, the absolute hallmark of a local business that deserves support. Thank you for what you bring to Montréal, you have a great team, exceptional bread/pastries, & you provide a great model for other businesses.
Such a wonderful boulangerie! Located in the heart of Le Plateau, they truly have everything you could want: beautifully crafted artisanal breads, delicious pastries (including croissants reminiscent of top Paris boulangeries), cakes, & plenty of savory options like quiches & sandwiches.
The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly, & the atmosphere is both cozy & bright. I love the furniture & how the large windows fill the space with light no matter where you sit.
Just keep in mind that it can get quite busy, & finding a seat might be tricky, even on a Monday afternoon.
Very good boulangerie. The breads are delicious, lots of variety. They also have amazing tarts, cake, mousse. Best to order ahead otherwise you pick what's left.
Delicious almond croissant, ham/cheese croissant, & pistachio eclair. Tasty latte, well made, good foam. HUGE bread & sweets collection. Quick line, attentive service. Clean bathroom. Limited seating with the Saturday morning rush, but it's a popular place! Fun to watch the bakers handling the dough.
Best bakery in the area. Excellent bread, croissants (the chocolatine is only ok), the chocolate chip cookie is mediocre but the caramel one is to die for. The apple turnover is fine. Really you're coming here for the bread, & it's a nice place to sit as well. Always busy, in a good way. Nice staff.
How many delicious pastries can I eat? Great selection of classics & new ones. Excellent bread. Great space for talking & watching. Long line but it moves
Great place, great food (their breads are delicious) & lively atmosphere! A must!
Nice bakery in the Plateau. I was glad to see a lot of locals coming in & out. They certainly are busy. Their workflow reminds me of that at Porto's, the Cuban bakery from Burbank, California. The servers are fast. Come early in the day because they sell out of stuff.
I'm no croissant expert, but the one I had here was better than the one I had at a random cafe the other day. The croissant (CAD$2.50) from Toledo was airy & flaky. I had an iced americano $3.50, & it tasted great as well.
The peach kouign amann $5 was a new thing in August. I enjoyed this the most. It was so dense & not terribly sweet. The focaccia $14 was also really good! It was a large square, & they cut it into two triangles for me. The dough was great. This makes me think their bread must be delicious too. I would try some bread next time.
I bought a package of the vanilla madeleines $6.50, but I didn't really like them. I didn't see other people buying them either, so maybe it's not just me that thinks the madeleines aren't good.
Plenty of seating inside but with non-matching tables & chairs. They have large windows, so the sun makes it hot inside.
Apple Pay/credit card accepted.
No wifi
No bathroom
Opens very early which is kind of unique in the neighbourhood.
Watching fresh bread being baked & amazing French pastries in large portions with tasty coffees is indeed an amazing start of the day!
As a lover & connoisseur of bread, the baguette is exceptional. Other pastries are great & affordable. The staff seem to be enjoying themselves as well which is hopefully a sign that they enjoy working there & are treated well. Great croissant.
From the friendly staff to the vast array of baked goods, you can't beat this place. Their artisan bread selection is great. They have various sandwiches in savory items, & every type of coffee you want. But the best part to me were the flaky French pastries, & various cookies they make. In my travels, I visit every French bakery up, possibly can. This place ranks way up at the top level. Add to that, the staff is quite friendly & accommodating with no attitude at all.
I had never tried'fougasse' with olives before. Lot of delicious options of bread & croissant at the famers market at Baldwin Park. Guess they'll see me every Saturday :p
If you've ever dreamed of reliving those lazy Parisian mornings-where the scent of fresh croissants mingles with the hum of café chatter-then Boulangerie Le Toledo is your Montreal dream come true.
From the moment you step inside, the air is thick with the aroma of artisan breads & buttery pastries. The vibe? Think cozy corner bistro with a touch of Montreal joie de vivre. The staff are friendly & efficient, & the space is always buzzing with locals & visitors alike.
Now, let's talk highlights. The chausson aux pommes-oh là là! Generous, flaky, & bursting with apple goodness. It's hands-down the best I've had in Canada, & every bite whisks me back to my student days in France, where pastries were a way of life. Pair it with their espresso, which is robust, smooth, & just the right temperature.
But don't stop at the chausson. The croissants are buttery & crisp, the sourdough is chewy perfection, & the sandwiches (especially the bagnat poulet & ciabatta with tuna) are worthy of a Parisian lunch break. The almond croissant? A must-try.
Le Toledo isn't just a bakery, it's a destination. With its communal tables, free WiFi, & sunlit windows, it's the perfect spot to linger with a book or catch up with friends. Whether you're a Montreal local or just passing through, make sure to arrive early!
Final verdict: If you're looking for a reason to fall in love with Le Plateau all over again, this is it. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
Everything is amazing here! This is my favorite spot in town for sourdough bread - chewy on the inside & perfectly crispy on the outside. Every bite was a treat! The croissants are buttery & excellent, & the latte & hot chocolate are lovely too.
Le Toledo Bakery offers a wonderful balance of quality & charm. The croissant with ham, cheese, & béchamel is delicate & full of flavor. Their sourdough bread & hamburger buns are simply outstanding, crafted with care & expertise. A good espresso or cappuccino completes the experience beautifully. The staff is always courteous, attentive, & welcoming. With such excellent quality at fair prices, Le Toledo is a place I would return to without hesitation. IYKYK checkout how to use them buns, see photos.
Great bakery for a quick pastry & cappuccino or if you're looking for some delicious freshly baked bread. The miso baguette is a must buy & try.
The sit-in area itself is a fight, with people vying for that next open spot which is quickly taken the second someone vacates.
A really nice place with good coffee & great bread
When I went there were a lot of people but the service was good. I order a latte that was very good & a sandwich, the sandwich was good but not the best, if you want a bistro sandwich it's a really good option.
Apart from that I order a chocolatin & an apple bread, by far my favorite thing in the place.
The place is also super cute, with a cozy, vintage & chill vibe.
I recommend it a lot for the bread, & if you want to go to work or with friends it's a really nice place.
It took some searching to find a good bakery in this part of Montreal, but finally found it! Le Toledo is excellent. Great bread, pastry & coffee. Nice people & great space
Hands down best bakery in a city full of great bakeries. The reason? They do it all. Some places have very good patisseries, or viennoiseries, or breads - Toledo excels in every category. Some of my personal favourites are the Norwegian bread, the gâteau nantais, & the gâteau basque. Also the staff are super nice!
I visited this bakery a few times whilst visiting Montréal. They have the most beautiful selection of croissants, breads, pastries, savouries & more. Great coffee & very friendly staff!
