A place where it is good to come to relax, at any time of the day of 7 @ 7 and 7/7. A bakery - Coffee bar - Urban cafeteria created by two passionate friends, Riccardo and François.
Le Toledo is described across reviews as a beloved Plateau bakery with a cozy, bright vibe where the air is thick with the scent of artisan breads and buttery pastries, and where the space can feel busy with limited seating. The menu impresses with a broad, high quality range of pastries and breads, including croissants, pain au chocolat, almond croissants, chaussons aux pommes, galettes, tartes, and a variety of savory options like quiches and sandwiches, along with standout focaccia and sourdough. The coffee program is frequently praised, with favorites like lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos. The staff are often described as friendly and efficient, creating a warm on site experience, though some reviews note occasional service hiccups or queueing challenges when peak hours hit. Prices are considered fair for the neighbourhood by many, while a few items are noted as pricey. Sustainability and generosity come through in comments about markdowns on unsold items, and the overall tone is that Le Toledo is a go to spot for locals and visitors who want high quality boulangerie fare, a lively yet cozy atmosphere, and the chance to see bakers at work, with early visits recommended to beat the crowds.
Best bread & pastry in Montreal! I just LOVE the chausson aux pommes & the fougasse aux olives.
Always buying more than I came for!
For take away better go early in the morning to avoid the queue. It gets crowded & noisy during the day, reason why I never sit for a coffee & dessert. The outside sitting is rudimentary; it could be a nice terrace during the summer (maybe due to personnel costs? no interest to maintain it).
The Hot chocolate is average, probably ok for North American standards/ taste.
We walked into this, sun fliued, fabulous smelling shop hoping the reviews were on point. & they were!
They have the absolute best pastries. Croissant so flaky & crisp & lovely you will think you are in butter heaven. Eclair so perfect & chocolately you won't need a sweet treat for days. We went back before we left the city to get more treats, because once you find a place as good as this, you don't go anywhere else!

My cookie prayers have been answered!!
Due to my food sensitivity to eggs & dairy, it's extremely difficult to find cookies that I can safely enjoy.
TOLEDO's vegan chocolate cookies have answered my prayers!! Not only are they dairy free & egg free, they ACTUALLY taste good. Chewy & chocolatey, just like a good cookie should be!!
Sadly, I only discovered them towards the end of my stay in Montreal. I brought 4 back to Vancouver with me...should have bought more!!!
Pastries are such a personal delight - what melts one person's heart might feel a bit too sweet for another. I recently indulged in Toledo's chocolate éclair filled with chocolate cream, but I found it a bit on the sugary side. Interestingly, I wasn't alone in that opinion.
It seems the tide is turning toward less sugary treats, creating desserts that strike a perfect balance & appeal to a broader range of taste buds.
Best bakery in the area. Excellent bread, croissants (the chocolatine is only ok), the chocolate chip cookie is mediocre but the caramel one is to die for. The apple turnover is fine. Really you're coming here for the bread, & it's a nice place to sit as well. Always busy, in a good way. Nice staff.
Everything is amazing here! This is my favorite spot in town for sourdough bread - chewy on the inside & perfectly crispy on the outside. Every bite was a treat! The croissants are buttery & excellent, & the latte & hot chocolate are lovely too.

Fav boulangerie place. Almond & chocolate croissant is really good, & the madeleine was pretty good too. On weekends, it can get really busy, & finding a seat might be tricky. The mocha & latte were also great. Definitely a spot worth visiting!
My wife & I ended up at this place by chance because we actually wanted a sandwich from another place next door but they weren't open so we decided to try this place next door. What a horrible experience. We ordered a few items & waited in this crazy line where people were walking in & out & back & forth. When we finally made it to the cash all the bags that the cashier was holding were white & they were asking people is this urs then other people is this urs. We said yes 2 two bags because we recognized what was in them & then there was a blonde lady in a pink shirt next to the cashier who rudely threw our last bag with chocolate croissants & mumbled something in some language & looked at us like we were idiots. Then the cashier looked at the debit receipt & noticed we didn't tip & gave us a rude look also. That is the service issue . Then to top it all off we leave & were driving home & decided to try the food & to be honest the bakery items were ok . Good at best but the tuna sandwich had a huge surprise in it for me. As I was eating I got a bite that almost broke my tooth & when I spit it out I realized what it was it was the tip of a sauce squeeze bottle . Often people cut the tips off to make the hole bigger so that they can squeeze mayo or sauce out faster or to prevent things like seeds or garlic pieces from blocking the spout. Unfortunately because of someone's carelessness it ended up in my sandwich. It was not a good experience at all & thank the lord I didn't chip or break a tooth. I personally will not be returning & don't recommend this place

Ordered a chocolate muffin, apple strudel & croissant. The apple was meh - too much of like an apple sauce inside. But the chocolate muffin & croissant were some of the best I've had. Great texture, flavor, & all that. The shop itself is nice. Like a long rectangle with seating to work or just enjoy your fresh pastry. They also have coffee & chai & desserts as well as fresh baked bread.
Honestly one of the best croissants of my life. Crispy, flaky, perfectly carmelized, & just the right amount of filling. I got the chocolate-almond croissant.
This place was amazing! If you're visiting & looking for a delicious bakery, look no further! I enjoyed a chocolate almond crossaint & cafe au lait. Everything looks delicious though!! I will go here again if I'm ever back in Montreal!
Having returned for a second summer in a row anticipating a renewed enjoyment of the vegan chocolate chunk cookie (decadent in my memory) & of their pastries, I've found that Le Toledo bears consistency in the quality, integrity, & experience of their offerings. My friend & I are also drawn to this bakery because of how pleasing the sight of the long-stretching display case lining the length of the bakery is- it abounds with perfect-looking pastry & bread options. The seating & ambiance are another feature we appreciate, along with the natural light coming in from the large windows & the very convenient location (on Ave Mont-Royal). The vegan chocolate chunk cookie is impressive for its texture. If you're a chocolate fiend, you'll appreciate this as it is packed with chunky slivers that are rich & smooth. The pain suisse was also excellent, I would order this again as the chocolate & delicately flavoured custard complimented the flaky croissant nicely. The chocolate almond croissant however was the most memorable pastry we'd enjoyed that morning. The almond paste is rich & nutty. The amount of filling & chocolate were in my opinion ideal, rendering every bite de-LightFul. I think anything you'd order here (among the pastries, I haven't tried any of the breads & so I can't speak for them) will satisfy. Our firm recommendation though (& that of the lady before us in the line) is the chocolate almond croissant.

This cafe has beautiful pastries & fantastic coffee ☕️ the pain suisse is delicious, as are the croissants. The mocaccino with dark chocolate is worth trying for a pick me up. The staff is friendly & helpful. Worth checking out
Definitely recommend stopping here to get a bite, a chocolate chaude, to the bathroom, to get some wifi, anything. Nice place & nice people with great service!
