After having eaten at (& been very impressed by) the Bombay Mahal Parc-Ex location earlier this weekend, I thought I'd give the NDG location a try as I live in the neighbourhood & would love to find a local Indian restaurant of similar quality.
I ordered the chicken vindaloo along with steamed rice, naan, & an appetizer of lentil dhal. The first thing I noticed was the prices punched in by the staff member were much higher than what was advertised on their website. When I mentioned this he altered the price, though the total was still more than if I had simply ordered on Uber Eats for pick-up. I am not sure if this was an honest mistake, or a blatant attempt at an upcharge, but it certainly wasn't the best way to start my dining experience. If the chicken vindaloo is indeed $16, the $12 listing on the website should be updated.
The food arrived quickly & the table service was fine. The inclusion of a free bottle of water & disappointingly bland vindaloo cannot help but lead me to suspect that I might have received the'Gora version' of the dish. I include this in my review in case anyone else with a light complexion likes their vindaloo spicy & visits this restaurant... just be sure to ask for the full spice when ordering.
I'm not normally one to fuss about atmosphere, but in comparison to the Parc-Ex location I feel compelled to mention it. While that spot is bright, bustling, & clean. This location had uncleared tables, somewhat dour staff, & a generally uncaring vibe.
With several other Indian restaurants within walking distance on Sherbrooke, unfortunately my search for one to visit consistently as a local will have to continue.
Very good priced Talis for lunch, & they were delicious! Perfect comfort food for a cold winter day. Highly recommend for Indian food lovers.
The food is fine but they bullshit about the prices & don't even follow the prices on their own signs. They say their lunch menu for a plate is 12$ but my wife went the other day & they charged her 17$ despite it being noon (again, that doesn't even match the price on their menu). Ridiculous stuff. They're kind of liars.
I'm reviewing based on my experience ordering from Uber Eats. Never had a bad experience, portions are perfect size & everything always tastes fresh. My orders are always quick, packaged well, & delicious. Great value for the prices.
It's not fancy food, but it's good. The place looks like it's been due for renovations for a while, but it's clean which to me is most important. You'll definitely be waiting a bit on busier nights, but they're very good at providing accurate estimates for how long you'll be waiting, & I've never, not once, waited for no reason, once food is ready they waste no time putting it in a bag & giving it to the customer.
It's well priced, especially if you're going into the restaurant to order & not going through an app, good food, & they're always nice. Their Aloo Gobi & lamb curry are among my favourites, & the flavours are always consistent.
They're my go to when I don't feel like cooking, & they're part of why I'll miss the neighborhood so much when I move soon.
Honestly the sized portions were just right so you can order a few things for a really good price. Atmosphere was very calm & nice to have a small gathering. Very pleasantly surprised.
Service is A1 As fast as it gets & they are really nice too always give extra Lassi or Gulab Jamun Food is delicious, especially considering the price Great, taste, always fresh Naan Thank you:)
Very tasty well prepared assortment of dishes at a reasonable price. Skews a little hotter that your food court Indian fare. Service was fine. Place could use some sprucing up decor wise, but it looks like it mostly a take out.
Incredible Indian food for vegetarians & for meat eaters. AMAZING price. The value, quality, the care & service by the staff. The food was served beautifully, hot, generous portion. I love that they have soup & appetizers & so much variety. Will come here again & again. Highly recommend 💙👍🏻 PS - the garlic naan was incredible & I actually prefer how thin & crispy it was unlike some reviews. One order was enough for two people & was only 3 or so dollars.
Food was delicious. Generous size portions at a very good price. $60 was enough to fill us up with plenty left over to bring home. Customer service was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
The best choice for take-out in the neighbourhood. Absolutely delicious food (I always get the veggie thali), & super reasonably priced. Service is always quick & friendly.
This was my first time here but not my last. The food & service was great. I had the lamb biryani & my wife the Thali. I loved it & I also love the prices. Very reasonable 👍 We'll be coming back 😀
First time here but not the last time. The food was great & very reasonably priced. We were served quickly & they patiently answered all my questions. This is definitely a place I'll be visiting more often now that I found it 👍👍👍
My wife an I had a non-veg thali. It was absolutely delicious. It is hard to find such a satisfying lunch for the price.
Always tasty. Price is good for the amount of food you get in a thali plate.
