L'antipasto, i gamberi in saor, era buono e ben eseguito.
Location 5/5 - in the heart of Venice
Food 2/5- I just don't really understand the flavor . The starter it's too sweet fr the onions. When seafood it's too sweet I don't think it's working.
Main course, rice with prawns. Really nothing special.
Dessert looks better in pic then it tastes
Service 5/5- real fine dinning service 👍💓
Price 3/5- expensive for the quality of food.
Outstanding evening! Our waiter, Rinto, was knowledgeable & polite. Our two main dishes were simply delicious, & the dessert was like nothing we had tasted before. All the excellent food was accompanied by a complimentary soup at the start & chocolate at the end. The value was very good, given that this is a very fine dining restaurant with delicious meals & lovely atmosphere.
An Evening in Lovely Surroundings
In the soft glow of evening light so bright,
We settled in, letting worries drift away.
Beautiful surroundings, a dream felt just right,
With service that sparkled, in a warm, inviting array.
A glass raised high, the wine's tale began,
Each sip held a story, from vine to our table.
From distant vineyards where sunrays ran,
A journey of flavors, sweet as a fable.
The pasta divine, the pride of the house,
Homemade art on a plate, each bite a sweet verse.
The duck, so tender & juicy, a joyous espouse,
Every meal a grand feast, a celebration to immerse.
& then came dessert, like a kiss from the stars,
Sweet, light, & airy, like dreams of the night.
In laughter & sharing, we traveled so far,
An evening of magic, forever in our sights.
I visited here for both lunch & dinner. The cuisine was not only of exceptional quality but also beautifully presented with artistic flair, showcasing the finest culinary traditions of Venice, enhanced by their contemporary interpretations of classic Italian desserts.
The service, however, was the reason I HAD to return. David provided thorough explanations regarding the preparation of each dish & the origin of the ingredients, demonstrating extensive knowledge of the wine selection. His recommendations from wine to dessert options were all on point.
Once you taste the cuisine at this restaurant, you'll understand why it earned a Michelin recommendation. I planned a special surprise for my mother & reserved the romantic menu for her, knowing her love for roses. The experience was exceptional, with impeccable service that made the evening truly memorable.
Each dish was introduced with clear, thoughtful explanations, adding to the anticipation. The welcome drinks were delightful-fruity, refreshing, & perfectly balanced. The scallop dish was a standout for me; it was cooked to perfection & paired with an addictive, flavorful sauce that elevated every bite. The ravioli was equally impressive, its unique filling complemented by a rich, well-crafted sauce.
The beef fillet was another highlight-tender, succulent, & cooked to a flawless medium, just as we requested. For dessert, we were treated to a delicious creation with a harmonious sweet-sour balance that left us feeling refreshed & satisfied.
Before we left the restaurant, the staff presented us with a sweet plate.
To say we saved the best to last, does not serve this restaurant justice…
This was our fourth, & last evening in Venice, so I wanted somewhere special, & it did not disappoint!
The blend of location, decor, atmosphere, service, & quality is wonderful!
The knowledge, & proudly explained description of each item was superb!
Yes, it is high class, but the waiters were not in the slightest bit snooty, but very friendly & happy to share a joke!
I mentioned to the waiter that I had found it odd that the best Tiramisu I've ever had was actually in Spain, & not Italy… he politely explained that Tiramisu is always subject to interpretation… & then serves me with what was not only the best Tiramisu I've had, but the most amazing dessert, full stop!
A truly wonderful culinary experience, thank you… absolutely the correct decision to have booked for our last evening in beautiful Venezia!
Unfortunately, our experience at Bistrot de Venise was not what we had hoped for. The fault is entirely ours, we came across the restaurant on a blog we usually trust, & although we had some doubts, we decided to go ahead & give it a try.
It's undeniably difficult in Venice to explore something new without ending up in what feels like a classic tourist trap. While there was nothing wrong with the experience, it simply wasn't the kind of place or atmosphere we personally seek out when in Venice.
A small note for the record: tiramisù.. while a popular dessert, is not a historic dish & certainly not a Venetian one.
The spaghetti with pesto sauce was delicious & cooked to perfection.🩷 The main course featured stewed ox knee, which had a large bone in the center, consisting of about half meat & half tendon. The dessert was tiramisu, which was a bit ordinary. Overall, the meal was perfect.🥰
We booked through The Fork app & got 20% off, bringing the total to $174 for 4 cocktails, 2 complimentary soups, 3 entrées, a dessert, & an extra dessert on the house. A good deal, especially if you're from the U.S. The risotto was flavourful, & the beef filet was tender & juicy. Attentive service made the experience even better.
Spectacular food & service! The owners Sergio & Giancarlo made our evening so memorable. Each dish was finely crafted & presented & displayed Venetian cuisine at it's finest! The Chocolate Raspberry dessert was to die for! We had the best seat in the house with a window to the gondolier canal.
We were pleasantly surprised by this place! Definitely fine dining, with unique flavors. We were interested in something slightly different from the hundreds of standard Italian restaurants. We travel heavily, & huge wine people. Their wine list is impressive but a little pricey. We had the BEST wine service I have ever had in any restaurant in the world. The detail our server put in to present, decant, etc the bottle was special. It was truly well done, & we only ordered a $200 bottle. They started with a unique take on a Caprese which was actually really nice. The tuna appetizer is a seasonal special & it was great. I had the risotto which was a good dish - a little fishy & strong in fennel flavor. The "moving fish" was interesting. the amount of seafood was comical - i had one half of one scallop, one small piece of langoustine (I think?), one shrimp, & some of the raw fish. The panna cotta honey dessert was fantastic. They also gave us a little tasting dessert. We would recommend to friends that are adventurous or want something a little different.
