Oysters came with a warm plate & nothing to put on them. Fois gras was disappointing. Service was terrible. I've had better service at an Applebees in the US & this place has Michelin stickers on the door. Inattentive & brusque. Good (pricy) wine list.
Classy, old school & elegant. The service deserves a special mention, because it was old school professionalism, which can not be experienced often nowadays. The food is meticulous, their wine list is extensive.
What a great find! We came upon this place while wondering the narrow streets & canals of Venice. It is located prominently on a corner not too far from San Marco Sq. We didn't have reservations but were fortunate enough to get a table outside as it was a lovely evening. Service was impeccable & the food fabulous with many choices from a very well curated menu. The wine list was quite extensive & the sommelier helped to pick one out. All in all it was the perfect location & great way to spend our last night in'The Floating City'.
This place made me feel like I ate at my grandma's table. We started with a fantastic spritz & dug into the pasta for our first course. The squid ink pasta & the goose ragout pasta were perfection on my palate. I would certainly recommend trying the squid dishes at this place. The sommelier was very helpful & guided us well on our wine selection. All in all a lovely dinner & must visit in Venice.
Amazing food, great wine card & impeccable service. Price in the upper range but totally worth it.
A must try! Service was beautiful. They explained every plate & wine. We chose the historic & classic tasting menu, their recommendations were spot on, & everything was delicious. Ambiance was cozy, elegant, soft, & romantic. They spoke italian, spanish & english. Loved it!
"On Saturday, January 4, 2025, my wife & I dined at this restaurant. We were deceived by the bill we had to pay. The menu only states a 10% supplement is charged, but NOT on aperitifs, soft drinks, & wines. After a discussion with the owner, a 10% charge was applied to everything. The owner was very arrogant, claiming that this supplement on EVERYTHING only applies to his restaurant in Venice! Therefore, I can only advise against drinking or staying away from this restaurant, as a 10% charge on the total bill is absurd."
What a delightful place. The service is amazing. The staff is so professional & genuine. The food is amazing. I appreciated the wine list that gave some great affordable options which is not often the case in a high end restaurant. Recommend the baked eel & tiramisu.
My family of 6 enjoyed Bistro de Venice for lunch. The food & wine were wonderful & the service was excellent. We did not have reservations, so I was very pleased that they were able to fit us in. I do however recommend getting reservations. I didn't take many pics, but all of us loved our dishes.
The whole experience was a dream with amazing classical symphonies playing in the background, it was like being in another era. The setting, the decor, the burning candle at the table in it's beautiful & perfect candelabra... Easily makes it my favorite dinning experience in the world, a moment in time where I wished to stay in. The wine was a dream, the food was a dream, there is so much attention to detail in everything in this restaurant, from the service to the decor to the details in every dish! If you get the opportunity, sit at the'Sala Casanova' private dinning room :) Thank you to the team for an unforgettable dinner!
Like stepping back in time. Great cozy atmosphere combined with flavour rich dishes & an excellent wine list. You will enjoy traditional menu executed with utmost perfection.
My wife & I were on our honeymoon & wanted to have a delicious meal at a restaurant that has been on the Michelin recommendation list for over the last 5 years. We clearly chose wrong... The food arrived cold, under seasoned & uninspired. The wine list was extensive & well curated, their only saving grace. The service was completely awful, we felt the server was annoyed by our presence & we felt the server didnt think we belonged. I would skip this place when you're in Venice, much better options at less expensive restaurants. Do not eat here unless you don't value food or your money.
We came to Venice to celebrate our 2 yr anniversary & my 50th birthday. Without knowing where to go I asked ChatGPT for suggestions & Bistrot de Venise came first, for good reasons. Everything was superb. We had the romantic set menu with beautifully decorated table, plenty of attentions, convivial & professional hospitality & excellent food. & what about the wines? The sommelier made us travel through Italy accommodating each dish with the perfect wine. Mention special to our waiter, not only fast but doing his job in an elegant & discreet way, somehow in tune with the classic Italian music playing softly in the background. My special thanks also to Alessia who was my contact to prepare & customise our special events (I won't say more not to spoil the charm). In summary if you want a jaw dropping experience in Venice, look no further !
Exceptional Service, Food & Wine ! A surprise find in Venice for our last evening in Italy - Very grateful to have been invited here for dinner with friends - very enjoyable in every respect - I had the Calf's liver, onion, alpine butter & Storo polenta - it was superb !
We were pleasantly surprised by this place! Definitely fine dining, with unique flavors. We were interested in something slightly different from the hundreds of standard Italian restaurants. We travel heavily, & huge wine people. Their wine list is impressive but a little pricey. We had the BEST wine service I have ever had in any restaurant in the world. The detail our server put in to present, decant, etc the bottle was special. It was truly well done, & we only ordered a $200 bottle. They started with a unique take on a Caprese which was actually really nice. The tuna appetizer is a seasonal special & it was great. I had the risotto which was a good dish - a little fishy & strong in fennel flavor. The "moving fish" was interesting. the amount of seafood was comical - i had one half of one scallop, one small piece of langoustine (I think?), one shrimp, & some of the raw fish. The panna cotta honey dessert was fantastic. They also gave us a little tasting dessert. We would recommend to friends that are adventurous or want something a little different.
This is one of the finest restaurants I have ever dined at. We enjoyed the 4 course option which included the sweet & sour prawns with spiced onions & the sturgeon marinated in mull wine. Both were exquisite. These appetizers were followed by Durum Wheat Pasta & Scampi with a heavenly chili pepper oil & the Homemade Bronze Drawn Spaghettoni with butter & anchovy cream. Al dente superbness. The third course was Orange & Rosemary flavored Lamb & Duck Breast'Pervada', both entrees sous vied, then baked to tender perfection. The encore desserts were the best Tiramisu & Crème Brûlée either of us had ever experienced. The evening was capped off with a sit down visit by the owner. He explained their 30 year quest to find & reproduce ancient 13th & 14th century Venetian recipes. This is a humble family, dedicated to their craft. We will return to Bistrot de Venise every time we return to Venice.
I can't say enough good things about Bistrot de Venise. My fiancée & I had gotten engaged mere hours before our reservation & I scheduled the "romance" package for dinner. It came with its own special menu, an exclusive red tablecloth, a rose, two glasses of prosecco, 5 courses, & a special heart pastry, personalized with a congratulatory message. The food was fantastic & is certainly worthy of a Michelin star, especially the scallop risotto. This dish was incredible, & the heat of the food caused some of the thinly sliced ingredients to react & "come to life". It was one of the cooler things I have seen. At many highly rated spots, while the food may be good, the portions are lacking. That was not the case here. We felt full by the end of it & very, very satisfied. The sommellier helped us pair our wine perfectly & the waiter was absolutely wonderful, not snobby, but pleasantly delightful. The ambiance & aesthetic of the place is cozy & artistic & very different from other local establishments. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Venice. Seriously, you'll be missing out if you don't. Grazie!
This is definitely a MUST in Venezia. "Bistrot de Venise" is a project (that combines art, people & gastronomy). "Bistrot de Venise" is an atmosphere. "Bistrot de Venise" is a service (I really recommend to be served by DARA... for his passion for food, for his passion for wines, & most importantly for his passion for smiles☺️☀️)
