Always a go-to spot for food. It's usually busy so definitely make a reservation, but it's 100% worth it. Easily one of those places that becomes a regular.
Bernie's Pizza Martini Bar what can I say.. The West-Island needed a spot like this. Cool atmosphere, unpretentious vibe, straightforward menu, good food & drinks & excellent friendly service. I would recommend reserving if you want to be guaranteed a table as this place was still full past 10pm.
Page is a gem 💎 Attentive in service & positive energy during the entire experience. As a first time at Bernie's not much impressed with the food taste but overall a nice experience.
Other than the fact that you have to be out within 2hrs, this place was fantastic!
We had a'Hot Pep' pizza, along with an order of Bernie's meatballs. Both were absolutely delicious! Our only complaint, was that there was only 1 piece of bread with the meatballs! We wanted another so that we could soak up the remaining sauce, as it was delicious!!! The pizza was filling for the 2 of us eating it. Thin crust was cooked to perfection. The'cup & char' pepperoni was very tasty. While it was a tad greasy & salty, it is a pizza after all & to be expected, right?
One very odd thing!!! The men's toilet is a single toilet set up... the seat has a built in bidet!!! The remote hangs beside the toilet on the wall. Who, I repeat, WHO would use a bidet at a public, BUSY restaurant??? I thought was very strange! However, I guess it is that'added touch'! 🤔
If you're in the West Island, like a busy place with good music, atmosphere & of course, food, then Bernies is the spot for you! I give it 👍👍
Bernie's Pizza Martini Bar is clearly doing something right, expect to wait even with a reservation, as the place is packed even on quieter nights. Kudos to management for creating that level of demand.
I went with a large group, which gave us the chance to try several items. Overall, the food is good, not great. Since this is oven-style pizza, some traditional pies, like the margherita, lose a bit of authenticity. In my opinion, the choice of cheese is what holds the pizzas back. It felt somewhat processed & affected the overall flavor.
We tried the funghi, margherita, hot pepper, & classic veggie pizzas. On the plus side, the burrata was excellent, very creamy & flavorful, & easily one of the highlights of the meal.
The atmosphere is cozy with a fun vibe, making it a great spot for date nights or big groups. The staff were very friendly, & there's a strong selection of wines, cocktails, & mocktails. It's a little on the pricey side, but still worth the visit.
Overall, a solid experience. With a different mozzarella, I genuinely think the pizzas could be top-notch.
Bernie's has great portion sizes & very good pizza, but it can be expensive. For example, we ordered two pizzas & two Caesar salads & the total came out to about $150 including tax & tip. The pizzas are large & filling, so sharing works well. The restaurant gets extremely busy, & walk ins are almost impossible, so it is best to plan ahead.
Really enjoyed this place !
The vibe is cozy, yet sophisticated. The drink menu has lots of options & the food was good!
The pizza really tasty. I loved the garlic bread rolls, it was a little sweet. Cesar salad was good. We tried the meatballs as well. I was a little disappointed in the calamari, but the rest compensated. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at Bernie's & would definitely come back!
What an incredible Monday night discovery in the West Island. Bernie's Martini & Pizza delivered a fantastic experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with a round of great drinks - a crisp Peroni beer, a rich & velvety chocolate martini, a smooth Chardonnay, & a very dirty gin soda that hit all the right notes.
The appetizers set the tone: perfectly seasoned meatballs, tender calamari, & a fresh, classic Caesar salad. Simple dishes, done exceptionally well.
Then came the pizzas… & let's just say our eyes definitely didn't listen to our bellies. We were warned not to order two - but we did anyway. The portions were huge, the crusts were perfect, & every bite was worth the challenge. Worth noting: the pizza isn't Neapolitan style - it's its own generous, hearty style - but still absolutely delicious.
The ambience was surprisingly lively for a Monday night. Warm, welcoming, & exactly the kind of spot the West Island has been needing. It felt great to have this style of restaurant right here in DDO.
Highly recommend Bernie's for anyone looking for great food, great drinks, & a great night out. I'm already looking forward to the next visit!
VANESSA IS THE SWEETEST GIRL EVER!!!!! She is the definition of SOCIAL BUTTERFLY! Hats off to Bernie's for hiring such a sweet kind polite genuinely down to earth girl! Very very good service from Vanessa super happy to have been served by her tonight such a blessing! she's such a pleasant person to talk to a real GEM!! You can tell she really loves her job & works with her heart! Bernie's is very lucky to have such a good hard working kind employee !
Vanessa was absolutely incredible! She was exceptionally kind, easy to talk to, & genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. She gave us her personal pizza recommendation (which was amazing) & double-checked everything to make sure our order was perfect. You can tell she really enjoys what she doeszzz easily one of the best servers I've ever had. Thank you, Vanessa, for making our visit to Bernie's so memorable!
If you are the owner & reading this.. GIVE HER A RAISE!!
Super cute place! The staff were friendly, & the food & drinks were really good.
We (3) shared the Bernies Chopped salad & the Mini Beef Burgers. We also got 2 pizzas: one was half cheese & half margherita , & the other was half vegetarian & spicy bernies. It was cool how you can split your choices for the pizza so you can try more options. We also shared the Bernies Biscuit for dessert… so yummy.
I had the Sunflower martini & also the Espresso Martini - both made very well.
The tables felt a bit cramped, & the music was a bit loud (hard to hear each other talk), but was definitely a fun spot!
One my new favorite eateries! Bernies Pizza Bar. Beautifully decorated, wonderful & dedicated staff. Full bar with nice list of martinis to choose from. We had the very popular & generous Ceasar salad, a portion you share & the all dressed flat pizza, also generous & made for 2 or 3 people. Both absolutely delicious. We also had two of their popular martinis: a Cucumber Breeze martini & a Sunflower martini. Very nice & refreshing. Service by Antonia was an added pleasure. Although all staff are great. Great music too! But maybe just a little bit too loud. People have to talk a little louder. But not a deterrent!
I've always had a great experience at Bernie's except for the last time. The service was quite poor. Firstly, we reserved a few days in advance & it only said they had 9:30pm. Not a problem however the restaurant was totally empty on a Thursday night. We felt like a bother to the waitress when wanting to order more items I guess because it was late, but that isn't our fault. We did not a receive a last call so when wanting to order one last round of drinks (at 1030pm mind you) she said sorry kitchen & bar are closed. We then asked if we can take a pizza to go to have some family try it & she also said no. Pretty disappointed.
Loved everything about this place!! Service was hands on & excellent! We ordered the all dressed pizza, thin crust was crunchy & loaded with toppings. I haven't had an old style pizza in ages & it was absolutely delicious! Every bite!! The garlic rolls had a slight sweetness to it which just compliments the butter & is loaded with melted cheese & grated cheese! My'Sunflower' martini was amazing! I will add that It's price smarter to get the bottle of wine then get a single glass. Thank You Bernie's for a great meal & wonderful experience! I'll be back & I'll be back often😊
If you're a food lover in Montreal's West Island, missing out on Bernie's Pizza Martini Bar would be a culinary crime. This gem of a spot marries cozy, upscale vibes with a menu that delivers both creativity & comfort in every bite. Whether you're a regular or a first-time guest, Bernie's guarantees a memorable dining experience, one that leaves your taste buds dancing & your heart fullest.
Take one look at this pizza & you'll understand why it steals the show. Perfectly cooked with a golden, crispy crust, this half-&-half masterpiece showcases the kitchen's range. One side is generously topped with mini pepperoni, pepperocini peppers & Mike's hot honey, bringing a perfect balance of spice & tang that complements the melty, rich mozzarella. The other half? A mushroom lover's dream. Earthy, caramelized mushrooms blanket the cheesy surface, adding deep umami flavor that pairs wonderfully with the subtle sharpness of the cheese & truffle flavours. It's a pizza that caters to every craving & executes both halves to perfection.
If you're looking for something hearty & soul-warming, Bernie's meatball dish is simply divine. These aren't your average meatballs they're tender, juicy, & bursting with flavor, served in a robust tomato sauce that's clearly been simmered to perfection. You can taste the love & old-school Italian influence in every bite. It's the kind of dish that transports you straight to Nonna's Sunday dinner table with a little bit of a twist due to the cinnamon notes you get as well.
Even a Caesar salad gets the star treatment at Bernie's. Crisp romaine is tossed in a creamy, tangy house-made dressing that hits all the right notes garlicky, savory, with a hint of lemon. Topped with fresh parmesan shavings & crispy croutons, it's a refreshingly bold starter that could easily stand alone as a light, satisfying meal.
Our first visit to Bernie's was a resounding success. Literally the best calamari I've ever had, delicious pizza & exquisite & inventive martinis. Our server was super friendly & attentive. We'll definitely be back again soon.
Disappointed & disgusted with Bernie's Pizza Martini Bar July 5, 2025
Four us went here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We chose 4 different pizzas so we could try a few different ones. To our shock, all the pizzas were burnt! Not just the outer crust but the bottoms of the pizzas as well. We called over our server, showed her the worst charred pizza & asked for a replacement. About 15 minutes later, the replacement arrived & it was burnt also. At this point we were fed up, asked for our bill & left, vowing to never return. Aside from the burnt pizzas (5 in all) the noise level is ridiculously loud & the tables are very tightly crammed in together. I gave 2 stars because they play great music & the decor is cute. Also, the Caesar salad was good as were the beef sliders & fries. You can see my full review with photos on West Island Honest Reviews & Breaking Bread West Island.
Food: The Signature Ceasar was delicious & Bernies Beef Sliders were juicy & flavourful. The fries gave off serious McDonald's vibes (in a good way!) But the real MVP was the Cheesy Garlic Rolls. Absolutely to die for! We were too full so we didn't get to try the pizza.
Atmosphere: The decor was super cozy. However, the space was extremely cramped. Tables were so close together it felt like I was sharing dinner with the next party. The music was too loud, making conversation a bit of a challenge. On top of that, I felt a bit rushed, which detracted from what could have been a more relaxing dining experience.
We had high hopes for Bernie's, & while the experience was decent overall, a few things held it back.
It was raining when we arrived & we had reserved a table on the terrace. Unfortunately, the host didn't make much of an effort to accommodate us inside & initially tried to seat us outdoors despite the weather, which left a bad first impression.
That said, the decor is great - cozy, stylish, & very welcoming. The ambiance was definitely a strong point.
The food was hit or miss. The sliders were quite tasty, but the pizza was on the dry side. For dessert, the chocolate cake was clearly store-bought - I've seen & tasted the exact same one at Costco. Overall, the menu could use more variety & freshness.
What really stood out, though, was our bartender/server. He was incredibly attentive & made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening.
A nice spot with potential, but a few key things need improvement to make it truly memorable.
