I attended the Scrambled Eggs drag brunch on November 23rd, 2025 at The Bernard: Cabaret Gourmand, & I can say without hesitation that this was one of the best live experiences I've ever had.
First, the building itself deserves a standing ovation. Once a bank, it has been transformed into a breathtaking space that feels like a mix of French-Revolution elegance blended into an ombré aesthetic, splashed generously with cabaret flair, a touch of burlesque artistry, & a bold, expressive theatrical vibe. & one thing's for sure: please take a good look at the wallpaper!!! The decor alone is an experience.
Now, the staff: absolutely outstanding. Kind, attentive, observant, & always on rotation so no guest was ever forgotten. I never even had to ask for water once - it simply appeared when needed. They were upbeat, lively (yes,'dandy' works perfectly as a positive term here), & felt genuinely excited to be part of the event. Their energy matched the audience's in the best way possible. It didn't feel like a show; it felt like one big, welcoming hangout where everyone shared the same vibe.
The entire atmosphere was a safe, joyful space. I felt completely comfortable being myself, laughing loudly, & joining in on the fun. Everyone bounced off each other's humor naturally. It was the safest, warmest, most inclusive environment I've ever been in. I truly hope this brunch returns in 2026, because I need to bring others to experience what I felt today.
As for the brunch setup: after admission, you can choose between a meal-only option or an unlimited mimosa package. I ordered the avocado toast - thick, crunchy, perfectly toasted bread topped with fresh avocado. Delicious & absolutely satisfying. Other dishes looked just as tempting.
Now, the performers - the heart of the event. Hosted by Montreal's favourite auntie Uma Gahd from Canada's Drag Race Season 5, the show was non-stop energy. We were also treated to the gorgeous & talented Suri Racha, & as an incredible surprise, Jaylene Tyme, Miss Congeniality of Canada's Drag Race Season 5, appeared & lit up the entire room. As someone who lives far & doesn't always get the chance to see certain performers, finally seeing them meant a lot - a real'splash of heart' moment for me.
Every performer was upbeat, precise, & deeply connected with the audience. They moved around the entire venue so everyone felt included, & they knew how to command the crowd even without saying a word. The event felt empowering - especially with performances celebrating icons like Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, & more. Some moments recreated scenes from Canada's Drag Race Season 5 right before our eyes. It was captivating from beginning to end.
& trust me - I'm not a cat who bites if something is'too much.' I loved every second, & it never stopped being fun.
To top it all off, the artists stayed afterward to take pictures, chat with attendees, & genuinely connect. It meant a lot to feel seen & appreciated. I don't go for recognition, but it always warms my heart when the artists make me feel welcomed & valued.
As an event organizer myself, I can easily imagine booking this venue for shows, corporate events, or celebrations. The lighting, atmosphere, & flow were exceptional.
The Bernard: Cabaret Gourmand delivered a truly unforgettable 20/5-star experience.
I can't wait to come back, & I hope Scrambled Eggs returns again next year - because I'll be there, bringing everyone I can with me.
Absolutely loved my experience here. From what I remember they were serving brunch cooked hot plates since their kitchen was still in the process of being completed & the food was EXCELLENT!! We had an amazing yogurt bowl, coffee, salmon gravlax, & avocado toast.
It's definitely a splurge depending on the event, we did drag brunch, & it was worth every penny. The pole/burlesque shows are next on my list for this spot. Can't wait for them to become a village institution.
