A beautiful space with wonderful staff. However, I understood that the menu price was related to the fact you had a free show. But the food was subpar. The $25 shrimp cocktail had the same quality as a frozen grocery store one. The $38 duck arrived cold. & for 2.5 hrs we saw a total of 4 minutes of performances.
Eau souci o
Great drag show! Food is ok a little pricy for what you get, mimosa where a little flat & not a lot of of sparkling wine in them
WOW! Quel endroit absolument magnifique !
I came here with a group & we all ordered the same gnocchi dish. Everyone else got real gnocchi - I, however, was served what looked like breakfast fries tossed on a plate & presented as if it were the same dish.
When I asked about it, the manager shrugged me off with,'I'm not a waitress, we're very busy - talk to your waiter.'
A manager openly refusing to manage. That alone tells you everything.
The waiter - the only person actually doing their job - took the plate back & finally admitted the truth: they weren't just out of the sauce… they were out of the gnocchi itself. Instead of telling me, they tried to pass off some random'crispy version' & hoped I wouldn't notice the difference between gnocchi & literal fried potato sticks. The level of disrespect is honestly wild.
& yes - we waited almost two hours for our food before any of this even happened.
& the chaos didn't stop there:
• Completed dishes sat on the hot pass for 15+ minutes because only one waiter was working the entire restaurant.
• The manager stayed glued to her phone instead of helping.
• The host also didn't serve, didn't run food, didn't assist with anything.
• The chef had no space left on the hot plate because so many untouched dishes were backed up.
• Plates were mismatched everywhere - nothing coming out of the kitchen matched what the menu promised.
To'make it up,' they offered me anything on the menu for the gnocchi price - including the filet mignon - & even that was wrong. It's supposed to come with potato purée. Mine arrived with fries. At this point it seemed like the kitchen had just given up entirely.
The only person putting in any effort was the waiter, who was clearly drowning without support.
Between the dishonesty, the mismatched plates, the chaos, & the zero leadership from management, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had.
Save your money - & your patience. This place is an embarrassment to its own menu.
I attended the Scrambled Eggs drag brunch on November 23rd, 2025 at The Bernard: Cabaret Gourmand, & I can say without hesitation that this was one of the best live experiences I've ever had.
First, the building itself deserves a standing ovation. Once a bank, it has been transformed into a breathtaking space that feels like a mix of French-Revolution elegance blended into an ombré aesthetic, splashed generously with cabaret flair, a touch of burlesque artistry, & a bold, expressive theatrical vibe. & one thing's for sure: please take a good look at the wallpaper!!! The decor alone is an experience.
Now, the staff: absolutely outstanding. Kind, attentive, observant, & always on rotation so no guest was ever forgotten. I never even had to ask for water once - it simply appeared when needed. They were upbeat, lively (yes,'dandy' works perfectly as a positive term here), & felt genuinely excited to be part of the event. Their energy matched the audience's in the best way possible. It didn't feel like a show; it felt like one big, welcoming hangout where everyone shared the same vibe.
The entire atmosphere was a safe, joyful space. I felt completely comfortable being myself, laughing loudly, & joining in on the fun. Everyone bounced off each other's humor naturally. It was the safest, warmest, most inclusive environment I've ever been in. I truly hope this brunch returns in 2026, because I need to bring others to experience what I felt today.
As for the brunch setup: after admission, you can choose between a meal-only option or an unlimited mimosa package. I ordered the avocado toast - thick, crunchy, perfectly toasted bread topped with fresh avocado. Delicious & absolutely satisfying. Other dishes looked just as tempting.
Now, the performers - the heart of the event. Hosted by Montreal's favourite auntie Uma Gahd from Canada's Drag Race Season 5, the show was non-stop energy. We were also treated to the gorgeous & talented Suri Racha, & as an incredible surprise, Jaylene Tyme, Miss Congeniality of Canada's Drag Race Season 5, appeared & lit up the entire room. As someone who lives far & doesn't always get the chance to see certain performers, finally seeing them meant a lot - a real'splash of heart' moment for me.
Every performer was upbeat, precise, & deeply connected with the audience. They moved around the entire venue so everyone felt included, & they knew how to command the crowd even without saying a word. The event felt empowering - especially with performances celebrating icons like Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, & more. Some moments recreated scenes from Canada's Drag Race Season 5 right before our eyes. It was captivating from beginning to end.
& trust me - I'm not a cat who bites if something is'too much.' I loved every second, & it never stopped being fun.
To top it all off, the artists stayed afterward to take pictures, chat with attendees, & genuinely connect. It meant a lot to feel seen & appreciated. I don't go for recognition, but it always warms my heart when the artists make me feel welcomed & valued.
As an event organizer myself, I can easily imagine booking this venue for shows, corporate events, or celebrations. The lighting, atmosphere, & flow were exceptional.
The Bernard: Cabaret Gourmand delivered a truly unforgettable 20/5-star experience.
I can't wait to come back, & I hope Scrambled Eggs returns again next year - because I'll be there, bringing everyone I can with me.
Scrambled Legs with Uma Gahd was an excellent show. The venue was perfect for brunch!
During our visit to Montreal, we stumbled upon Bernards for late-night drinks. Their staff & bartenders were absolutely incredible. They were friendly, welcoming, & extremely talented--even going out of their way to make us something customized & unique. We loved it so much we had to come back for their Drag Brunch,'Scrambled Legs', on Sunday.
The food & drink, atmosphere, customer service, & entertainment are all a 10/10 to me & those who attended with me!
Food: 10/10
They provided some vegetarian & vegan options for both their food & drinks. One of the dishes we got was the vegan waffles which used chanterelle mushrooms to emulate chicken & waffles & it was probably the best waffles we've ever had. Overall, they have a small, but sophisticated food menu.
Atmosphere: 11/10
It is located in a beautiful building with many intricate details that lend the atmosphere a luxurious feeling. I would recommend coming to have a drink here for the atmosphere alone.
Customer Service: 11/10
The staff here really go above & beyond to ensure that everyone has a great time. Even with our food specifications, they walked us through all the options without hesitation. They're also quite humorous & entertaining themselves!
Entertainment: 10/10
We saw both a cabaret show & their drag brunch show & were thoroughly impressed with the range of acts provided!
Overall, please give Bernards a try if you are in The Village. I'd highly recommend them & will be recommending them to friends who visit Montreal.
Stumbled on this on my way to the village & I would never regret this choice. Please go & visit. Bartender was amazing & so was the waiter. The burlesque show was incredible. Extremely friendly, came here with my husband had an amazing time.
Excellente animation, excellente nourriture, excellent staff & merveilleuses performances!
I discovered a jewel of a place located in the heart of Montreal's village nightlife.
Here is what I wrote a friend about Bernard Gourmand Cabaret Burlesque, on this day, Friday, June 20th, officially the 1st day of summer:
About this place:
No cover charge. But you would be expected to order something to drink or eat.
There is LIVE spectacle entertainment here. The performances are dazzling & the music selection great igniting one's nostalgia for the 1940s.
I am no fan of drag queens but an occasional one performs to satisfy a diverse clientel. Tonight there were no drag queens but a burlesque Rio Carnival girl in full costume regallia performing on the floor & on the bar counter & of course a pole dancer who also used her skills on an elevated overhanging hoop from a ceiling which was incredible!
The drinks are expensive to cover the cost of the performers & entertainment. I have not yet experienced their lunch hour brunch but I expect to: performances are also LIVE at brunch.
My'querdo' portugese beer cost me $11.50 after tax per bottle but was well worth it given the quality of entertainment. I do not know how much cocktail drinks are. I had 3 beers tonight.
Somebody I invited, was supposed to show up tonight, Friday night June 20th the first day of summer officially but he never showed up. I had a good time anyway. I arrived at 8 PM & left at 10:00 p.m.
Reminds me of the film'Casablanca'.
Highly recommended! ***** 5 stars
