I stopped by Bei Downtown Montreal to grab a pita falafel sandwich for a quick dinner & to try it for the first time. Unfortunately, it was a real big disappointment.
The vegetables were fresh, but the falafel itself missed the mark. Instead of being crispy on the outside & light & fluffy on the inside, it was extremely soft & overly moist. It was also much too too salty & heavily spiced, which completely overpowered the other flavors. The texture simply wasn't what I expect from a good falafel.
I do not throw food away, but this time I couldn't even finish the sandwich. It was that disappointing.
Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend the falafel & I dont think that I will come back to try something else in the future since my first impression was unfortunately not a good one.
Good place in Centerville for a no-nonsense middle eastern meal. Ordered the Halloumi & Boeuf/Beef Bei Pita Wraps & French Fries - as part of a customary'Trio', a soda can drink came along with the meal. The Wraps had good Halloumi Cheese, veggies, chunks of shaved rotisserie Beef, & sauces - all assembled in deli style. The Fries were deliciously seasoned & crisp! The meal was entirely affordable, setting us back by approx. CAD 30, including taxes & tips. Seating is limited downstairs but additional tables are located upstairs - clean place, only minor wrinkle being non-use of gloves by a friendly person behind the assembly line as he handled veggies - soon redressed cheerfully upon request.
Nice looking place. Average customer service. Disappointing food. We thought the chicken was really dry & lacked flavor depth. Overall the Saj shawarma tasted like whatever sauce was in it, didn't taste like the actual ingredients in it. Almost like a oh tacos tacos.
I left my tennis bag here, inside two professional badminton rackets & a new bag of birds. The store does not have it, so if you a client took it please return it.
Officially the best Shawarma I've tasted in Montreal, crispy garlic potatoes to die for, nice salad selection, & the Saj wrap I had was spectacular! I dined in, & the ambiance was amazing, young hip clientele with a quieter mezzanine if you want to work or go on your laptop
Excellent chicken shawarma made with fresh, quality ingredients. The toum sauce is very good as well. The trio for 10.99 is one of the best value meals in town.
The service is great too.
The food is really delicious & the service was fast, so I'd give it 5 stars. However, my advice to the owners is to encourage the cashier staff to smile more. Also, when they don't understand an order, it would be better if they politely say,'Could you please repeat that one more time?' instead of reacting with'HAA?!' As if costumers are stupid :).
