Baton Rouge for dinner - no problem. Atmosphere is great, lots of space, noise level is good, seats are comfy. Look & feel is great.. The staff is polite, efficient, accommodating (Brandon, in particular was awesome).
The menu needs help. Apps (we shared crab cakes) were excellent. Main .. not so. It's like BR needs to reinvest itself & its menu. Had the Louisiana Chicken that was absolutely'smothered' in peanut sauce - overpowered the chicken, the salad, etc. Grilled Peach Salad - were those canned peaches?? Just'unloading spices' doesn't give me the flavours & the value I expect at this price. BR, lots of options on this strip, better reinvent your menu here, & step it up.. Fortunately, cocktails here are good, but let's address & expand the menu .. fyi.. peanut sauce isn't'Louisiana'. Figure out what kind of restaurant you want to be.
Je ne recommande pas ce restaurant. Nous avons commandé la salade de pêches grillées - les pêches étaient en canne - ainsi que la salade de boeuf thaï - la laitue boston & le mélange de chou étaient clairement pré-portionnés & pas frais, & tout ce qu'il y avait de'thaï' c'étaient des morceaux de gingembre rose qu'il y avait partout autour de l'assiette. Les vinaigrettes ressemblaient à celles de la marque Kraft. Pour le prix, c'était vraiment de la mauvaise qualité. Au moins la viande était bonne, mais encore une fois, pour le prix élevé on s'attendrait à ce que le reste de l'assiette soit bon aussi. Notre serveur était gentil. Il y avait des mouches & un cadavre de guêpe sur notre table. Les entrées sont meilleures (chou-fleur frit & trempette aux épinards) donc si vous venez, contentez-vous de ça.
I did leave a comment on your website, but I never heard back. Meals were just okay, lukewarm meat, cold fries. The Baton used to be a treat, but now it just feels like another fast food joint. On the positve side, the server was fantastic, friendly & efficient.
This opinion of for the downtown one we went to on St. Catherine Street.
We normally like to go to Baton Rouge. We always go to the one in Laval, or the one on Jockeys Street in TMR. During supper hour we went to the one on St. Catherine Street since were were down town.
What was disappointing is when we went in to the one on St. Catherine Street was after we were seated it took a very long time till the waiter came to us to take the order. I realize they were sort of busy.
We wanted to order their club sandwich. The waiter told us we cannot order the club sandwich. At the other locations we were never refused to order this type of sandwich at any time we visited for supper. We walked out without ordering anything.
We walked over to the St. Hubert BBQ. The service to get served was faster, & there was no issue to order the club sandwich!
My question is,'Why did Baton Rouge on St. Catherine St. refuse to take an order for a club sandwich?' Very disappointing. At the others we were never refused at any time we ordered. BR is supposed to be a franchised chain. It should be expected they all follow the same menu.
One thing I can say about BR is we like the food. Everything from the ribs to the steaks, salads, & etc are excellent quality. We have been going to BR for many years.
My husband & I were in Montreal for our 35th Anniversary & happened upon Baton Rouge while in the mall. We checked out the menu & decided to walk back over for dinner. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our table. Our server came by very shortly after & took our drink orders. We decided on our orders & they were served in short order. I had the salmon & wild rice with green & yellow beans. There was no shortage of food on my plate! My husband had a steak, fries & green & yellow beans, with a side of sizzling hot mushrooms. His plate was also full. All of our food was piping hot, perfectly cooked & delicious! We both ate every bite! The restaurant itself was clean, tastefully decorated & busy for a Wednesday evening. If we are ever in Montreal again, Baton Rouge would definitely be on our list of places to dine.

So, this is the second time I visited Baton Rouge Restaurant at Complex Desjardins as per the
Owner's suggestion. From Owner,'We hope to see you soon so that we can serve you better.'
I was with my husband & it was his first time back since the closure.
We sat in the Bar area at a booth. I hate to say it but again it took a little while for of us to get our drinks & then our food but we enjoyed our drinks while we waited.
We did not get an entrée & we both ordered Rib Steaks. He requested his steak be well done & burnt to a crisp & I requested mine medium well. Then we both ordered the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. We also ordered one Skillet Mushrooms & one Signature Peppercorn Sauce.
Then came the food & just by looking at his steak we could tell that it was not well & as he cut into it, there was some pink. Then I cut into mine & it looked even pinker than his.
I made the suggestion to him that he should send it back & he said he would see if other parts of it was cooked better. Well, I sent mine back & it took a while he was finished his Garlic Mashed by the time I got my steak back. He said his steak upon examination was not better when he cut into it elsewhere. So again, I made the suggestion he should send it back but he refused on the grounds that it took me so long to get mine back.
I had eaten my vegetables & set up my bake potato because I had the toppings on the side when I decided to send my steak back.
When my plate came back to the table I had more vegetables, a fully loaded baked potato & I don't know how but an even rarer steak than before. The only way I think that could have happened is they cooked me another steak. Cutting into it there was blood on the plate. Also, the fact that I got a fully loaded baked potato shows that the kitchen staff did not pay attention to the original order.
I have question: How is a pepper corn sauce salty as it is made with pepper ? The Signature Peppercorn Sauce was really salty. Just another issue.
We were both so upset & disappointed. It ruined our celebration & a night out. We did not order dessert & wanted to leave as soon as we could.
We will think hard about going back to this restaurant again. This was strike two.
Oh, so I did take the Owner's suggestion & try the restaurant again but to no avail it was worse than the first time.
Bien accueilli .. pour ce qui est du repas ., un be mol . J'ai demandé une bière rousse & on m'a servi une blonde , ça été ok , le poulet pas assez cuit encore un peu rosé .. je m'attendais à plus .. donc un peu déçu . Y retourner pas certaine ..
Énorme augmentation de prix & réduction des portions. Surtout déçu par la qualité des tendres de poulet. Ils sont plus petits, plus sec & la panure n'est plus aussi moelleuses 😢 Mais service impeccable de notre serveuse!
Food & libations came out quick. Only ordered appetizers-which tasted excellent & cooked perfectly. The garden salad was also amazing. Service was exceptional as well. The ambience & decorum-modern & clean.
Es un restaurante que está muy bonito. Tiene terraza exterior aunque nosotros comimos dentro porque hacía mucho calor. El salmón que pedimos estaba muy bueno y es recomendable.
