L'esprit du Barroco ne réside pas dans un simple élément, c'est plutôt une harmonie de plusieurs ingrédients, créant une atmosphère de bien-être pour le souper. Nous sommes fiers d'avoir personnellement sélectionné chacun des détails de notre restaurant, du décor à la mise en place.
Barroco, dans le Vieux-Montreal, est décrit comme un endroit chaleureux et intime où l'ambiance, le service attentif et la cuisine et les boissons de haute qualité laissent une impression durable. La carte mêle des plats français raffinés comme le bœuf braisé et le magret de canard, avec des cocktails mémorables et des desserts invitants, et beaucoup louent le cadre intérieur et le bar accueillant. Bien que les expériences soient majoritairement excellentes, certains avis signalent des portions modestes pour le prix, des plats parfois trop cuits et des options végétariennes limitées, et l'endroit peut sembler prisé ou coûteux. We were on a family vacation from the US. The service & atmosphere was amazing. My wife & daughter were vegans & the chef went out of his way to make two dishes not on the menu to make their dining experience magical. Highly recommend!!!

🍷 Last night, my better half & I embarked on a gastronomic odyssey at Barroco, a gem nestled in the heart of Montreal. Celebrating her birthday, we sought something extraordinary &, oh boy, did Barroco deliver with a capital 'B'!
Enveloped in an aura of romantic lighting & the classic elegance of white tablecloths, Barroco's ambiance whispered 'chic' in every corner. It was like stepping into a scene from an old Hollywood movie, minus the black-&-white filter & plus some seriously good food.
The adventure began with their six-course tasting menu, a culinary carousel that had us spinning with delight. Priced at CAD 85 per person with an additional CAD 60 for the wine pairing, it was a bargain for a ticket to flavor town.
First off, the deviled eggs with bottarga set the stage – a playful twist on a classic, much like the restaurant itself. Then, the roasted wild mushrooms arrived, bathed in mushroom & black garlic jus, paired with a Petit Chablis that danced on the palate.
The grilled octopus was a sea-sational journey, with steamed fingerling potatoes & paprika, accompanied by a glass of Alsace Riesling that sang harmonies with each bite. Then came the showstopper, the Paella Barroco, a mosaic of seafood & chorizo, each spoonful a mini fiesta, perfectly matched with a Spätburgunder.
But hold your forks! The beef short ribs – oh, those ribs! Boneless, tender, & glazed with maple & aged balsamic, they were like a meaty lullaby, paired with a robust Dao Reserva.
Finally, the sweet clover semifreddo with confit apple landed softly on our taste buds, a sweet ending to a fabulous meal, with a Gailloc Doux whispering a gentle goodnight.
Barroco's commitment to tradition – serving ladies first – added a touch of chivalry to the experience. The 5 to 10-minute interlude between courses was a thoughtful touch, allowing flavors to linger & conversations to bloom.

Barroco was the first restaurant my partner brought me to on my first trip to Montreal 5 years ago. The food, space & staff were amazing then & still are. We returned to Montreal with my adult children for Christmas & enjoyed an amazing meal & created wonder family memories & can not wait to return on our next Montreal trip. Don't miss this place. Small becomes cozy & the staff & food are the top of the game.

Magnificent! In Old Montreal for 4 nights. Hands down the best meal of all. Get the tasting menu. Phillip, the maitre d, was superb. Service was outstanding. We'll be back!
We had the sharing menu, which was beautifully presented, beautifully paced. The paella was superb -- such depth of flavor! The most memorable of the dishes. Well trained, knowledgeable, friendly service. Many complements to the chef.
We did have an issue that the identified allergies were not noted. The establishment corrected the problem immediately. They handled the situation to our satisfaction.
I would go back. It's a very nice establishment
We sat at the bar & the bartender was very very good! We enjoyed his company & knowledge of the menu/drinks. I found the short ribs a little too salty but they were very gracious about it. My daughter really enjoyed her paella. I would definitely go again!
What a find! My business group of 7 went to Barroco & had, what was universally agreed, to be a wonderful time. Just the right, quaint, bistro atmosphere in Old Montreal.
