Celebrating her birthday, we sought something extraordinary &, oh boy, did Barroco deliver with a capital'B'! Enveloped in an aura of romantic lighting & the classic elegance of white tablecloths, Barroco's ambiance whispered'chic' in every corner. It was like stepping into a scene from an old Hollywood movie, minus the black-&-white filter & plus some seriously good food. The adventure began with their six-course tasting menu, a culinary carousel that had us spinning with delight. Priced at CAD 85 per person with an additional CAD 60 for the wine pairing, it was a bargain for a ticket to flavor town. First off, the deviled eggs with bottarga set the stage - a playful twist on a classic, much like the restaurant itself. Then, the roasted wild mushrooms arrived, bathed in mushroom & black garlic jus, paired with a Petit Chablis that danced on the palate. The grilled octopus was a sea-sational journey, with steamed fingerling potatoes & paprika, accompanied by a glass of Alsace Riesling that sang harmonies with each bite. Then came the showstopper, the Paella Barroco, a mosaic of seafood & chorizo, each spoonful a mini fiesta, perfectly matched with a Spätburgunder. But hold your forks! The beef short ribs - oh, those ribs! Boneless, tender, & glazed with maple & aged balsamic, they were like a meaty lullaby, paired with a robust Dao Reserva. Finally, the sweet clover semifreddo with confit apple landed softly on our taste buds, a sweet ending to a fabulous meal, with a Gailloc Doux whispering a gentle goodnight. Barroco's commitment to tradition - serving ladies first - added a touch of chivalry to the experience. The 5 to 10-minute interlude between courses was a thoughtful touch, allowing flavors to linger & conversations to bloom. In summary, Barroco is not just a meal; it's a culinary sonnet, a love letter to the art of dining. Happy birthday to my wife, & cheers to Barroco for a night to remember! 🎉👩❤️👨🎂

Barroco was the first restaurant my partner brought me to on my first trip to Montreal 5 years ago. The food, space & staff were amazing then & still are. We returned to Montreal with my adult children for Christmas & enjoyed an amazing meal & created wonder family memories & can not wait to return on our next Montreal trip. Don't miss this place. Small becomes cozy & the staff & food are the top of the game.

Fantastic food, drinks & people!! Absolutely love Barroco & can't wait to return merci beaucoup

What a find! My business group of 7 went to Barroco & had, what was universally agreed, to be a wonderful time. Just the right, quaint, bistro atmosphere in Old Montreal.

We enjoyed the excellent food & service at Barroco & would recommend it to anyone who is considering a visit.

My Barroco dining experience was one of the major contributing factors to a dream weekend in Old Montreal. This for the two of us is the perfect restaurant - five stars for intimate seating, incredibly attentive staff, timing, ambiance & food. I had the rib eye. - I am fussy about my steak, this beauty combined the buttery texture of rare with crunchy fat interspersed. My friend described her duck as moist & succulent. Silken mashed potato & whipped yam accompanied. The mousse dessert was beyond sinful. Thank you for this evening!

We had a wonderful time! Staff & service was excellent, our dinners were great & we'd definitely recommend Barroco to others! We were celebrating our honeymoon & the server kindly brought us a complimentary glass of bubly which was much appreciated! Thank you!

Visiting Montréal from Minnesota, our meal at Barroco was our favorite during our 4 night stay. Excellent meal & overall experience.

Thank you Team Barroco & an awesome dining experience as always!
The food at Barroco has potential, but the excessive saltiness overshadowed the true flavors of the dishes. As for the service, it left much to be desired. Despite being told multiple times that someone would assist me, I waited for 10 minutes by the entrance. It's frustrating to see staff walking past while you're waiting, especially when the table was already set & ready. With some tweaks in seasoning & improved service, Barroco could truly shine. BTW I had the appointment & wasn’t walk in.
Chose Barroco for dinner on the fly while walking around downtown & couldn’t have been happier we did! BEST short rib we’ve had! Marc the bartender was awesome too - highly recommend!

Barroco was a recommendation from a friend. We didn't know if it would live up to the hype, but it exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional, the service was thoughtful & not rushed & the ambiance was charming.

We've been to Barroco several times & the ambiance is always fantastic. This visit however we found our food was below our expectations from past visits. I had the paella, which I have had & enjoyed in the past. This time however the portion was considerably smaller & some of the ingredients were disappointing (for example, the calamari was not fresh but rather seemed to be the freeze dried type that you often see in some Asian restaurants). I left somewhat disappointed.

Barroco was disappointingly expensive for what it was & the price of wine ridiculous

Bien dommage!

We had a wonderful meal at Barroco. The service was stellar (thanks Esme), the food was delicious (we loved the short ribs & the homemade spaghetti with pesto russo), & the atmosphere & decor was very charming. We'll be back some day for sure!

The food at Barroco remains the best & most consistent in the city.
& in a city like Montreal, known for its great restaurants, that says everything.
The staff is attentive & omnipresent. The inside is cozy with great lighting & spot on playlist.
I suggest the short rib. The best you will ever have, but the artic char was also amazing.
In truth, whatever you select will soon become your all-time favorite.
Start with the famous Old Fashion before moving on to the deep & well curated wine list.
Above all, Lucca, the GM at the host stand cares for guests more like family members than restaurant goers.
You will end your meal planning for your next visit as Barroco will be your go to for a world-class overall dining experience.

Barroco is an intimate restaurant with outstanding food & genuine service. The staff understands how to make each table feel special & go above & beyond for the guests. My husband & I try our best to go wherever we visit Montreal from Boston.

Best food in Montreal - hands down.
Great Staff
The space is wonderful
The bar makes top notch drinks to your choice. I strongly suggest you try the Old Fashion
Walk past all the other tourist traps in old town & around the city & make your way to Barroco.
You will be VERY happy you did.
PS. The short rib is hands down the best I have ever eaten. It will be for you as well. But what ever you choose, you will leave with a full belly & smile on your face. Don't miss it.

Barroco delivered delight in our last night of Montreal. Highly recommend the Brioche, Angus Steak & Paella.
