We recently dined here, & overall, it was a memorable experience. The food was absolutely superb! every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, & clearly made with quality ingredients. The atmosphere was also fantastic, with a warm & inviting ambiance that made the evening feel special.
However, the service could definitely be improved. We had to wait quite a long time for our food, which took away from the overall experience. While the quality of the dishes made up for it in some ways, better timing & attentiveness would make this place even better.
Still, Barroco is worth visiting for the amazing food & great atmosphere.
Extremely disappointed with our experience here, especially as it was the only letdown during our Montreal trip. Despite booking months in advance, the reality did not match the reviews. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet service was incredibly slow. Our waitress was dismissive & struggled with the language barrier, which made communicating simple requests difficult.
?The food was mid at best. The seafood platter was tiny for the price, the tartare was underseasoned (there are much better options right next door), & the bread was stale & burnt. Even the octopus was thinly sliced & lacked flavor. We asked for everything to be served at once, but the staff ignored this & split the service anyway. We capped the night with burnt madeleines. Save your money & go elsewhere.
C'est le restaurant de préféré ma femme & moi à Montréal. On y revient toujours & on est jamais déçus.
La déco ancienne colle parfaitement avec le Vieux-Montréal, les assiettes vintages pour chaque personne ajoutent un beau petit détail, & le service est vraiment 5 étoiles.
On a pris la brioche au beurre, les asperges blanches du menu spécial à ne pas manquer, le tartare de boeuf un must si vous aimez la moutarde de Dijon, un boeuf Wellington à partager qui fond en bouche, & des madeleines avec une ganache au chocolat pour terminer. Tout était excellent.
Réservez à l'avance, c'est toujours plein.
Travellers dining here for the first time. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend the braised beef. Fork tender with celery root purée. I thought I'd gone to heaven. Heritage building with dim lighting but a lively atmosphere. Would come here again!

What a quaint restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful. The food outstanding! Service was perfect.
Very good restaurant, great atmosphere with great service. If I am being picky the Ribeye although perfectly cooked did not have an aged taste. A small green salad with the fries would have been nice rather than being an additional price. it's a $70 plate. You could say eating steak at a French restaurant is not making the most of French dining! The wine by the glass was excellent but slightly chilled which is not my preference for red. Half bottles would be a nice touch but I fined alone as I was on business. Dessert was superb.
Overall a really good restaurant . $185 for one it should be!!
