About

Barroco occupies a space defined by rustic textures and exposed stone walls that create a distinctively cozy character. The menu centers on rich, savory braised beef and selections of fresh seafood prepared with straightforward, bold seasonings. A creative cocktail program utilizes seasonal spirits and homemade infusions to complement the depth of the kitchen offerings. Wood accents and flickering lighting define the interior, contributing to an intimate environment focused on shared plates and substantial flavors. The atmosphere remains lively and kinetic throughout the evening, reflecting the bustling nature of the surrounding historic architecture. Incredible service but unfortunately my wife & I had to leave after the appetizer over food safety concerns. The oysters were spoiled, we eat oysters weekly & have a developed palate for this sort of thing- never have I had an actual spoiled oyster until last night. The rest of the seafood was good. Once the mains came, her lamb was grey & tough & my tagliatelle tasted like mold, & I love stinky/aged cheeses, it tasted more like curdled spoiled cream & the pasta itself was incredibly overcooked & mushy. The morels were also hard & inedible. Disappointing & actually concerning, but the staff were lovely. I noticed everyone was ordering the braised beef & potatoes- maybe that's the safest food item on their menu. Bill came to $300 for 4 drinks & an app.

Unfortunately seated to the restroom which my wife was very unhappy with. Was our anniversary dinner (15 years ) & was really underwhelmed.
First time in Montreal & Google Gemini highly suggested.

My wife was not pleased with her food except her salad. She had the duck meal which she described as somewhat dry/overcooked.

Would state that the braised beef was exceptional

Would not recommend as a first choice for a romantic dinner for an anniversary. The ambience is definitely urban chic.

Marc is simply the bomb in terms of mixology! From a fresh twist on a hibiscus infused tequila based cocktail to the perfect vesper martinis & old fashions. We were treated to a show of his skills while seated at the bar & were privileged to enjoy the in-house prepared foie gras followed by a very fresh & flavourful beef tartare. The pavlova for dessert was also off the chart. We will definitely come back every chance we get. This place has never disappointed me through the many years & has gotten better with time.

We'd been wanting to try Barroco for a long time, but as the restaurant isn't very large we hadn't been able to book a last-minute reservation until last night. I'm so glad we did. Suffice it to say that every dish was a delicious symphony of flavors in your mouth.
Below is a pic of their braised beef in an aged balsamic & maple sauce (usually comes with mashed potatoes, but I asked for asparagus instead) which they've had on the menu since they opened. If you haven't been yet, you have to check it out!

Our favorite restaurant in Montreal! A charming restaurant with a great vibe. We enjoyed the music they played during dinner. We loved the food. We ordered the brioche bread, the braised beef, the lamb chops & the pavlova with red berries. We will definitely come back!

Absolutely loved Barroco! We were in Montreal for 24hours & chose this restaurant. The place is small & classic with rustic vibes. Ambience was romantic & intimate. The porcelain plates were perfect & traditional. The service was excellent! Our server kindly improved the old fashioned we ordered! Last but not least, the food exceeded my expectations - the filet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium rare & the braised beef was soft & delicious…impeccable!!

This place is so nice & intimate. I was looking for a special spot to celebrate a birthday & wanted a'Happy Birthday' message written on the dessert. Even though they normally don't do that, they went out of their way to do it for us anyway! The service was very nice, & the interior decor is absolutely amazing. The food is also great-I ordered the braised beef, & it was fantastic. I will definitely be coming back! :)

Travellers dining here for the first time. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend the braised beef. Fork tender with celery root purée. I thought I'd gone to heaven. Heritage building with dim lighting but a lively atmosphere. Would come here again!

Everything about this place was great! The beef Wellington was worth the wait (50 minutes of cooking time), but with some delicious starters like beef tartare & oysters & some drinks it went by fast!

Excellent romantic meal in a charming restaurant. Waitress was very professional & friendly. The Winter salad with chicken liver pate & braised beef O.G. were killer dishes. Cocktails & the imposed two-hour dining limit were less attractive. I look forward to returning to Barroco.
