Situé au Centre ville de Montréal, le Bar George's inscrit dans la continuité du riche passé du Mount Stephen's avec sa cuisine contemporaine mais résolument tournée vers l'avenir.
Bar George est décrit comme un lieu spectaculaire alliant une architecture historique et un cadre intérieur chaleureux, propice autant aux occasions spéciales qu'aux repas autour d'un cocktail. Le service est souvent salué pour son professionnalisme et ses bons conseils sur les plats et les vins, mais des expériences signalent des retards et quelques erreurs lorsque la salle est très fréquentée. La cuisine est généralement de haut niveau avec des plats comme le Beef Wellington et le risotto au homard, bien que certaines critiques pointent une croûte du Wellington pas assez croustillante et un rapport qualité-prix parfois discuté, les portions pouvant varier. Went for dinner with my husband & it was such an amazing experience. The place itself is breathtaking, with a detailed handcrafted interior design, wooden sculpted wall panels & elegant chandeliers. The service is excellent, our waiter was very attentive & offered impeccable service during the entire evening. The food is beautifully presented, & each dish we ordered was a great culinary experience. The beef wellington was like a piece of art with vibrant colors surrounding the beef slices. As for the dessert, we ordered the monochrome, & I can safely say that it was probably one of the best desserts I've ever had. Each little piece is a combination of several layers of biscuit, mousse & other ingredients that blend perfectly well together as well as with the delicious ice cream accompanying it. Highly recommend this place for fine dining, such an experience!
The brunch is objectively terrible. Unfathomably bad. Except the fries & potatoes to be fair. But everything else could not have been made worse. From the undercooked lobster, to the tasteless eggs, the fishy fish. This place looks way too nice for the food to be this terrible.
Very Nice place in Montreal. I prefered the bar area over the restaurant area. The Cocktails were good. I haven't been impressed by the food though. Might be because I took the tartare but didn't make me want to order more. My friend ordered something else & was happy with his choice. Service was nice! I recommend for a drink, in the bar section.

Went on here for the last night of my vacation, & I couldn't have picked a better spot. The bar is gorgeously constructed, the staff competent & kind, & the food & drinks were absolutely delicious. If I don't come back one day it's because I'm dead.
The architecture of this restaurant was beautiful. The customer service was also good. However, we did not leave feeling satisfied with food given the high price tag. The beet salad & the chocolate dessert were excellent. However, our mains, the Beef Wellington & Chicken Roulade did not live up to our expectations. The beef Wellington by itself was nothing special, & it relied on the fancy colourful sauces to add flavour. It was not worth the price. The Chicken Roulade was ok, but not worth the money.
Bar George is a busy spot, even at 5pm on a very rainy Wednesday. Putting your name at the host stand & waiting in line is also somewhat convoluted as they assumed since I was speaking in English, my first language wasn't french & I could not understand the regulars that kept getting admitted no reservation before us, because they know somebody. Additionally, sitting at the bar, the drinks were great, but there were items missing from the list & that's always a faux-pas for me when you don't offer your full menu. The bar itself is gorgeous though, & the vibe is fantastic.
The moment you enter, you're welcomed by ornate Victorian décor. The staff are polite & helpful, even offering free bread to make up for a small mix-up. The food is well-prepared with quality ingredients, but at the price point, it could use more flair. Portions are fair, but without the extra bread, I would have still been a bit hungry. Overall, the ambiance is lovely, & the service is excellent, but the food doesn't quite justify the cost.
We sat down for dinner at 8 pm, it had been a sweltering day & we needed relief. Bar George is a historic stone building that adjoins a hotel - & so it was very full of hip/swanky/luxe people. No matter who you were, you suffered that night: there was no air conditioning, & it was above 80 F in the dining area. My wife & I sweat out two martinis each without feeling a thing. It was so warm, the gin was almost room temperature. We were trying to make the best of it, so we ordered caviar service - which was terrific. But the waiter/manager was "lifted" & in such a hurry to feed us (at nearly 930 pm) that he didn't check the meat temperature before serving us a steak so rare inside it was blue. He took it off the bill, but our evening was miserable due to the heat (& the fact that we left hungry). This place is all attitude, no execution.

The beef wellington is very good. It accompanied well with the sauce & the mushrooms. The mushroom soup is very good as well. The dessert is very nice, not too sweet, just right. The staffs are very nice as well
The interior decor was well-crafted woodworking. Started at the bar & got good service as the bartender worked with the hostess to ensure a smooth move to the dining room-rolled the drinks into a single check. The ambiance in the dining room was even nicer. Such a soothing, quiet evening with my wife. The burrata & halibut were top-notch. Portions are only moderately-sized so our usual strategy of splitting an appetizer & an entree left me still a little hungry so I ordered some dessert named after a mountain in Switzerland that they set on fire before I got a chance to eat it. It was also delicious, but my wife only took one bite because she wanted to watch her figure. Unfortunately, it rained on our walk back to the hotel & my wife's hair got messed up, or so she claims. I didn't notice any difference in her hair.
As a photographer, I love the atmosphere at Bar George & often bring my clients here for photoshoots. The service is excellent, & the food is delicious.
