Situé au Centre ville de Montréal, le Bar George's inscrit dans la continuité du riche passé du Mount Stephen's avec sa cuisine contemporaine mais résolument tournée vers l'avenir.
Bar George est décrit comme un lieu spectaculaire alliant une architecture historique et un cadre intérieur chaleureux, propice autant aux occasions spéciales qu'aux repas autour d'un cocktail. Le service est souvent salué pour son professionnalisme et ses bons conseils sur les plats et les vins, mais des expériences signalent des retards et quelques erreurs lorsque la salle est très fréquentée. La cuisine est généralement de haut niveau avec des plats comme le Beef Wellington et le risotto au homard, bien que certaines critiques pointent une croûte du Wellington pas assez croustillante et un rapport qualité-prix parfois discuté, les portions pouvant varier. Les cocktails et l'atmosphère du bar sont souvent loués, mais certains trouvent les prix élevés et le volume musical trop fort pour discuter tranquillement. Dans l'ensemble, Bar George est perçu comme une expérience de grande qualité avec un décor et un service remarquables, même si la cohérence et le rapport qualité-prix dépendent du moment; réservation recommandée, et l'endroit est souvent considéré comme une référence à Montréal.
I went for the brunch service on a Saturday. The service was attentive & I had a full English breakfast which was pretty good. I had ordered eggs over medium but they were a bit overcooked. A minor issue but I'd visit again when I'm next in town.
During our Montréal trip, we went to Bar George for a date night. It's such a beautiful spot with stunning decor. When we walked through the front doors, even though we had a reservation, we still had to line up with everyone else. A lot of people were lining up for the bar section near the entrance, & there was also a wedding happening upstairs, which made things a bit busier than usual.
We were booked in the dining area, which is located in a second room past the bar. We had to wait a while before someone helped us, & the arrangement at the entrance felt a little chaotic. I can't say the initial experience standing in line was great. However, once we got seated, the dining room itself was absolutely beautiful.
The vibe at the entrance felt more like a lively bar or party scene, while the dining area was much more refined & relaxed - an interesting contrast.
Once at our table, the service was fantastic. Our host was very attentive & gave us great food recommendations. We started with the mussels, which were fresh & delicious. My husband ordered the risotto, but when our food arrived, he was mistakenly served the gnocchi. The staff quickly caught the error & brought him the risotto, which he fully enjoyed.
I had the beef Wellington dish, & it was perfect - not a huge portion, but just the right amount, rich & full of flavor. We ended the night with a yummy dessert, though I can't quite remember which one it was, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it.
One thing I have to add: our bill ended up being just under $500, which, to be honest, felt way too high for a casual evening out. Even though the food was good, I can't really justify spending that much, & it definitely took away a bit from the overall experience for me. I left feeling like it just wasn't quite worth that price.
My wife & I had dinner here for her birthday & I must say everything was amazing. Jay, our server, was very attentive & looked after us really well. Would come back again the next time we're in Montreal.
The food was delicious, & the service was great. I also really loved the interior-it's beautifully done in a classic British style, which gives the place a unique charm & cozy atmosphere. Overall, a very pleasant experience!

We came at lunch & service was great. The food is okay, nothing really special, & the portions are small. The place is beautiful. It's a good dining experience but we won't be back.
Always such a pleasure to spend some time at Bar George!
Special thanks to JAY - our waiter & historian last night. He was the ultimate professional offering pleasant courteous service & kind attention - obviously very proud to be part of the establishment. Bravo!

Checked out the Bar George for dinner last night. The atmosphere & restaurant itself was really classy & nice. Not too noisy for being busy.
I would say for this price range of a restaurant the food was just okay. We had the beef wellington & the fillet mignon as mains. Steak was cooked perfectly but both dishes were slightly underwhelming in terms of taste. Presentation was good.
The service was also very slow due to how busy it was. We didn't get our first drinks until after the first starter showed up. As for drinks, I had the deluxe old fashioned & it was also not the best for such an expensive cocktail. A standard old fashioned would have been more enjoyable.
All in all, for the price range, there are much better restaurants in Montreal for both food & cocktails. If I was going to return it would just be for a drink at the bar.

Went to Bar George to try their famous brunch & to celebrate a friend's birthday. Although the table is too small for the big brunch plates, the waiter found a way to make it comfy & spacious enough to hold our coffee & side orders. Food is good, though its not what I expected for the price we pay. But the overall feel, the ambiance & the aesthetics of the place is already a plus factor in choosing this resto as an ultimate brunch place. I would recommend? Definitely & will be back soon!
Historical buildings with art inside have such a unique charm. Food is really worth the price. Compare to those same level of restaurants, services still need to improve. At least during the meal, no added bread & water, no changing plates….as 20%service fee was added to the bill for over 6 guests, we didn't really feel worth it.
Cute date spot for breakfast, dinner or drinks. Gorgeous rooms & friendly staff. As someone with celiac, the options are limited but the choices are still delicious & well portioned. Cross contamination is a risk but the server took the time to validate what could be done with the proper precautions.
J'ai totalement apprécié mon expérience. Premièrement des mon entrée dans le bar j'ai été surpris par la beauté architecturale intérieur. C'est vraiment beau de voir tous les détails dans le bois. Ensuite, le service est parfait, très belle équipe & tous le monde est professionnel. Ensuite, ouf le bouffe est succulente, j'ai choisi le steak Wellington qui était fantastique. Tout était gouteux & excellent. Nous avons terminé le souper au bar qui mérite d'être vu, encore une fois tout est beau, la musique est bonne & l'ambiance est parfaite. Si vous avez la chance d'aller au deuxième allez y sans hésiter.
