We went to Bangkok Express & overall had a great experience.
The atmosphere is really nice, with a warm & lively vibe, & the prices are very reasonable, especially for the variety offered on the menu.
Food-wise, it was a good mix:
• The spring rolls & tom yum soup were excellent, full of flavor & very satisfying
• The pad thai was very good, although just a little on the oily side
• The fried rice was good, but not particularly memorable
• Cocktails were nice, but slightly on the sweeter side
Service was smooth & the overall experience was very enjoyable.
In short, a solid & satisfying spot with great value for money. We'll definitely be back.
They have a lunch special, which is $17.95 & includes a coffee or tea, but they will not let you substitute a soda (even though a soda on the menu is the same price as a coffee or tea). I do not like hot drinks. I was very angry because this policy made no logical sense, but I stayed polite. I ate the lunch special & tipped 15% because I do not like confrontation. I should have just walked out then: a place that will nickel & dime you like that is probably cutting corners on the food too. The menu looked alright, but the lunch special was the cheapest option, & even that seemed too high. I will not be back, despite living 3 blocks away. Imperial roles were super greasy.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing service & the food was delicious. Will definitely be back.
We are regular customers of this consistently delicious restaurant. Not only is the food always tasty & warm, but the service is equally as wonderful & keeps us coming back to this gem of a restaurant in the Monkland village. Bo was particularly compassionate with our group tonight & we truly appreciated his kindness & will be back for our next meal soon!
So I have to report this has never happened before:
Ordered Pad thai chicken, Feb 26, first off the portion is smaller, but the main complaint was the chicken, most of it was like powdered, miniscule pieces smaller than rice, like dust. First time ever, this has happened used to be lots of chicken white meat. I felt ripped off big time. Too bad close to my home, but I guess last time!
A few items are excellent & a great price for the item.
Last night ordered general tai was sub par.
Nice not to have it breaded but dry & little flavour & no heat. Quite disappointing
The ChoChee fish has yet to disappoint.
I went with a group home I volunteer with, I loved the food & vibes. we were over ten people & my order did get forgotten twice but I got a free drink from it lol! made me happy, would definitely go back
Visiting from the states, it was a frigid December day walking the hood. We saw Bangkok Express on Monk & we stopped in to lunch & get warm. The menu was limited but flexible. The service was good & particularly friendly once we began chatting with the servers. Inside was calming & brightly lit thanks to all of the tall windows letting in natural light. We were pleasantly surprised & would visit again if in the area. I think this location has a lot of regulars.
The choo-chee is absolutely delicious & the portions are definitely generous. I also got to try their satay dumplings but I found the peanut sauce quite overpowering. Other than that very nice restaurant with a calm vibe, will definitely come again
We absolutely love this restaurant every time we come to Montreal from Toronto. It is so delicious there!
I wanted so badly to take the peanut sauce home, & it IS an option, just we were going back that same day. Next time, absolutely will.
The food is delicious
Un dîner copieux a prix raisonnable. Ça fait longtemps qu'un ami me disait'tu n'as pas manger de bon PadThai tant que tu n'es pas aller manger chez Bangkok' Bin il avait raison. Même la Tofu a du goût. L'expérience est à refaire. Merci
The food is fresh & good quality, & the portions are generous. As for the quality of the service, it's clearly not as good. The waitress communicated as little as possible, & I waited 25 minutes for a stir-fried dish. The food was lukewarm because the kitchen had rung for a long time before the waitress came to pick it up. To be fair, she was the only one working the entire room… Anyway! I came two weeks ago & had been delighted with my experience. Today, it was a total flop. I politely shared my dissatisfaction with the cashier in charge, & judging by her simple smiling'sorry', I don't think it was a major concern for her. Too bad - I live in the neighborhood & I don't think I'll be coming back.
Service was friendly, food was excellent & the price was just right. I really enjoyed my experience.
This is my favourite Thai restaurant in Montreal. The food is delicious, & the service is excellent I highly recommend Bangkok Express
Order the duck green curry with extra vegetables 🫠 You won't regret it
We always order the same dish; green curry with fried tofu. It is always a risk because you never know how it will taste. Sometimes it is great. Tonight, it was inedible. Incredibly salty, spicy & oily. I don't understand the lack of consistency at this place.
Very pleasant experience inside the waitress was perfect & kind. We've enjoyed the food & the pricing is reasonable for that level of service.
Vy was our waitress, she was excellent!
In the toilet, they even have a bidet.
