lounge(102) options(20) drink(19) buffet(14) busy(13) limited(13) flight(12) comfortable(12) airport(12) clean(11) coffee(10) system(10)If I could give it 0 stars I would. We were told 3 hours before departure, which is really only 2 (as boarding is 1 hour before). We purchased dragonpasses & were met with a queue of 20 groups ahead of us. Do not bother unless you get it for free.
During my visit to the Aspire Lounge at YUL, I witnessed a balding male employee physically grab & aggressively speak to a female coworker twice at the main reception/check-in area while she was actively assisting a guest.
The asian female employee appeared visibly uncomfortable but continued trying to assist customers professionally throughout the interaction. It created a very uncomfortable atmosphere & was disappointing to witness in a customer-facing hospitality environment.
Wish I looked at the reviews. They will put you on a waitlist you will have to act like an a hole to get in. The staff there unfortunately are setup to fail by aspire. I'm sorry they have to go through this. Dragon pass does not work here, they will put you on a waitlist & maybe if you have hours to kill you will get in. But if you are too early they won't let you in either even if you have an Amex platinum. Infuriating place. Part of the problem is the Montreal airport they have dictator guards protecting the international departures area & nobody can use the lounges at gate 53 unless you are international.
Worst service ever. If I could give them no stars, I would. The service is terrible since you get here. No organization. You have to wait 30 min if you want to get a bottle of water & staff here treat you like if they pay for your amex.
Beautifully designed lounge that just opened in September 2025!
Very kind service when I checked in with my US Amex Plat, had questions about ordering breakfast, & needed help getting nitro cold brew. There were a lot of empty seats on a Sunday morning. Famous St-Viateur bagel for breakfast was a treat!
4 stars because food options were limited overall, & there's no washroom in the lounge.
Other nice features: a phone booth, grab & go boxes & coffee if you're in a time crunch, good WiFi, & ample outlets!
The manager at the AMEX lounge at YUL - I believe her name is Daria - should seriously learn a thing or two about customer service & basic professionalism. Travelers in airport lounges are often exhausted, stressed, & running on little sleep. Yelling at your very young & clearly inexperienced staff in front of guests is not good management. It's embarrassing & uncomfortable to witness. Either hire more experienced employees or treat your current staff with respect while they learn. Or get a job at a 5 star hotel where everyone is trained to behave & work in the manner she obviously wishes they did.
As for the lounge itself: honestly, I hope AMEX completely rethinks this concept.
Despite more than two-thirds of the lounge sitting empty, the manager was still creating a 30+ minute wait list. Why? Nobody could explain it.
Once you finally get inside, the experience somehow gets worse. Their'sophisticated' ordering system only allows one item at a time through your phone. No smartphone? Too bad - you're basically out of luck. I can only imagine how frustrating this is for older travelers.
Best part - you can only order one item at the time & can't place another order until the first one is delivered to you….Want a sandwich? Wait 20+ minutes.
Want soup with it? Add another 20.
Want a drink? Another wait.
Coffee? More waiting.
& remember: you can't enter more than 3 hours before your flight, so if you time things perfectly, you might manage to get a soup, sandwich, cookie, coffee, & maybe a couple drinks before boarding.
Also, charging extra for basic items in an AMEX lounge is ridiculous:
• Hot dog: +$8
• Espresso martini: +$5
AMEX completely missed the mark here. This lounge manages to combine empty seating, long waits, poor management, slow service, & a frustrating ordering system all in one place.
Everything was amazing... Great staff, great vibes, super friendly & then the manager came in... She was basically a human chihuahua spewing 100 orders per minute to the staff. All in the open in front of guests. The stress of the staff was palpable. I overheard her say to one of them'if a question is not a yes or no, you direct them to me. I don't care just direct to me.' Really put a new perspective on just how much of a micromanager someone can be. Absolutely go here if you have the time but just hope the manager won't be here, she's hard to miss so you'll know...
Comfortable lounge. Food was actually pretty good, it's not a buffet so you have to order but it's all through your phone. Coffee, water, pop, & some basic alcohol is all included.
My only complaint was that I tried to enter & was given a wait time, when the lounge was only half full with plenty of seats. I only waited for about 20 mins before being let in. But it was still only half full when I entered. Just seemed a bit silly.
Place is not packed & they won't let u in unless ur flying business class with air canada or have amex platinum card. Get a meal from Tims or Starbucks better than their attitude.
Pire lounge jamais visité. Buffet réduit, nourriture fade & on limite les boissons. Allez dans un autre à la place!
