I wanted to update my original review because I think it's equally important to acknowledge when a business takes responsibility & makes a genuine effort to address a disappointing experience.

After posting my review, management reached out to me directly, apologized for what happened, & acknowledged that the situation should have been handled differently. I was also assured that the concerns would be followed up with internally so that similar situations are handled more appropriately in the future.

What I appreciated most was that my concerns were taken seriously without excuses or defensiveness. The response was professional, respectful, & showed a genuine interest in restoring my confidence in the restaurant.

My original concerns were still valid. However, I also believe that how a business responds after something goes wrong says a lot about them.

I appreciate the follow-up & the effort made to address the situation. Because of how professionally everything was handled afterward, I would be willing to give Jack Astor's Dorval another chance in the future.

Went for lunch as a group. I ordered the asiago chicken bow ties which was good except for the breading on the chicken being burnt. Yum carbon. I didnt mention it at the time as I was hungry & I didn't feel like waiting for them to remake it. What do they do with the cooked chicken & burnt breading? Probably throw it out. I would rather not be wasteful with food. My wife ordered the miso salmon bowl which she told me after the meal the sauce was way too salty. I even tried some of the leftover rice & damn was she right. My friend ordered an apple juice for their daughter & had to tell correct the order as they heard orange juice twice. She still got an orange juice instead of apple juice. Daughter didn't really care as she drank it happily. The kids had a nice time playing tic tac toe on the brown paper covering the tables while the adults had a nice conversation. Sadly, this is a one & done restaurant for us. Just not worth the price if food is over salted & burnt. I just want to warn people.

The drinks were great, dj was amazing, but service was really slow, & there was only about 2-3 others tables occupied, not like it was busy.
But my biggest complaint, which will cause me to never go there again in the summer, it was FREEZING COLD! Even my husband who usually runs hot was shivering. I understand AC but this was uncomfortable. Ruined the whole night for our group of 20.

Jack Asters used to be 5 stars but unfortunately they took away the beer & cheddar soup, this was a staple! It was one of the best soups & we would order Jack Asters specifically for the soup. Please bring it back! 🙏🏻 - Had to update my review to 3 stars instead of 4 because, when we order 9 chicken fingers, extra plum sauce should be included. Even with the extra sauce its not enough for the chicken fingers. Please fix this - Thanks.

Yesterday I came with a very large group about 40 adults & kids.

I deal with significant food allergies & the restaurant was able to accommodate me, it was above & beyond & very much appreciate it.

The portions are on the smaller side, but the food is tasty. They have some different menu items as well. Not just the usual pub fare. They have a good selection of beer on tap.
