Review Summary

Overall, Arthurs Nosh Bar is widely praised for comforting, flavorful brunch with standout pancakes and syrniki, cottage cheese pancakes, latkes and gravlax, and many note that the pancakes are a must try and among the best in the city, while the atmosphere is described as cozy and lively even when crowded. Reviewers emphasize the popularity and frequent long waits for a table or for food, with some days requiring hours, though some receive text updates or prefer to order takeout to enjoy in a nearby park. Service is a mixed bag: several accounts of warm, friendly, attentive staff contrast with reports of slow, impersonal, or inconsistent service when the restaurant is busy, and a few isolated hygiene or attentional issues are mentioned. Portions are generally generous, prices sometimes perceived as high but often deemed justified by quality and variety, including latke smorgasbord, gravlax plates, breakfast sandwiches, and the iconic McArthur sandwich. Reservations are not always available at certain locations, so plan ahead for weekends or consider visiting when less busy. Overall, Arthurs Nosh Bar comes across as a standout brunch spot with memorable food and a distinctive vibe, worth the wait for many diners and a frequent favorite for those seeking a Montreal based Jewish deli inspired experience.

Fantastic brunch spot!! The Latke Smorgasbord is a great option to have a little bit of everything. The standout however are the pancakes….i believe they are made with cottage cheese. They were unlike any other pancakes I have had before. Soft, fluffy & slight savoury, a perfect combo with the maple syrup.

A cute little breakfast/brunch spot, with retro decor & standard kosher breakfast selection: latkes, creamy scrambled eggs, gravlax on the rye or bagels, & their signature item, an inch thick fluffy syrniki( cheese pancakes). The items on the menu are somewhat limited (as is their coffee selection), but fresh, if a little plain to my taste. It is the service that needs some attention in my opinion.

Ordered Uber.
Disappointed. $20 breakfast sandwich with processed cheese? Ice cold not even warmed up roll. 2 incredibly small latkes.
Overpriced & underwhelming.

We were a group of 3 & went on a weekday around 12 for brunch. The place was very packed & it felt like we were rushed to order. We got the cottage cheese pancakes that were absolutely fantastic, the Latke Smorgasbord was decent as well. The place is very aesthetic & looks clean.

Great place for brunch. Loved the Syrinki pancakes! Never tasted pancakes like this before. Another highlight for me was the Latkes which were served with house apple sauce, horseradish & sour cream… soo delicious! Service was slow & has room for improvement. Also, the servers were a bit rude imo.
However, I will definitely return to Arthurs upon my next visit to Montreal. Just for the pancakes!

Arthur's Nosh was a good neighborhood breakfast place. The pancakes were unique & really yummy. The Latkes were the best I've ever had. The smoked salmon plate was ok.

I have been to Arthur's twice now on visits to Montreal & both times were amazing! Our most recent visit, just a couple of days ago, was truly outstanding. We went on a weekday, so although business was still steady it wasn't packed & we were able to be seated right away. Service was friendly & attentive. We got the latke smorgasbord, the breakfast sandwich, fries & shared the pancakes for dessert. It was all top notch. My husband said the breakfast sandwich was one of the best (if not the best) he's ever had, & we both agreed the pancakes were THE best we've both ever had. We loved the vibe & can't wait to come back!

Arthur's Nosh Bar is a restaurant on Notre-Dame St. W. in St. Henri. Owners Alex Cohen & Raegan Steinberg, a married couple, worked at Joe Beef before opening Arthurs.

The restaurant serves Jewish classics with a twist. I've been wanting to go here since last year for brunch, but I never got the chance.

I decided to try it because I've never been to a Jewish inspired restaurant before, & the ratings seemed good.

I walked in the heat & sun to the middle of a very odd place on a weekday afternoon to get to here. I was surprised it was packed & had a waitlist.

I ordered:
LATKE SMORGASBORD
SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS, LATKE, SALMON GRAVLAX, ISRAELI SALAD, PRESSED CHALLAH ROLL

I quite liked it, especially the pressed challah roll. It's nice that it's something sweet, served with other savoury items. The latke was good too. Out of the menu items, this one is popular alongside with the pancakes (but I ordered Katie smorgasbord because it seemed more unique to me).

This place gets brunch. Everything we tried was packed with flavour & personality. The McArthur sandwich? Savoury, messy, & damn satisfying with turkey, egg, & pickles on a sesame bagel. The classic plate with scrambled eggs, challah, latke, & smoked salmon looked fancy & felt comforting.

Waffles with beef bacon , salami & egg hit that sweet-salty-crunchy spot, & the shakshuka was warm, not too spicy, & perfect for scooping with pita. Portions are generous, the vibe is lively, & even if there's a wait-it's worth it.

Waited 45 minutes for a table, waited an hour & 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Pancakes were raw, server hardly touched the table. The latkes were amazing.

I had been wanting to try Arthur for a while & it did not disappoint. The pancakes are amazing. Big, thick & generously covered in maple syrup. The buttered challah with honey was also delicious. The restaurant is quite small & packed. Food was 10/10, I'm giving 4/5 for a few reasons: No reservation, long wait on the weekend, different menus during the week vs weekend & the price of the latkes… 10$ for 2 is too much.

We came here on a Sunday morning. We had to wait an hour for a table, but the hostess let us know. The best thing we had was the pancakes. If you are torn between pancakes & anything else, go with the pancakes. Delicious & filling. The deluxe hot chocolate is of the best we have ever tried. Definitely worth ordering. The service was excellent considering how busy it was. The McArthur chicken sandwich is ok. It hits the spot but you aren't going here for this. The fries with vinegar are mostly potato trimmings, not so much actually French fries. You know when you have fries & there little pieces at the end- it is a bowl of that. The latkes were ok. Again, you are not coming for this. The coffee was not good. Unfortunately my glass had that egg smell/taste that often happens at breakfast places. Even the replacement glass was the same. Because of the size of the place & the constant opening of the door, it was freezing & we had to keep our coats on to eat. Definitely worth coming & waiting an hour for the pancakes & hot chocolate.

Very nice, comfy spot to grab a bite & enjoy breakfast with friends. The eggs & salami plate was quite tasty, including a most delicious potato latke. Breakfast sandwich was very good as well. Great service, too.

An absolute gem of a place to enjoy your brunch!! The food is delicious, I tried the Latke Smorgasbord & the famous Syrniki. The smorgasbord was a perfect blend of Jewish cuisine with eggs, salmon & the challah bread! Loved the famous syrniki pancake for its fluffy & flavourful texture. I'll be revisiting for sure!

When I was planning my Montreal trip, Arthur's had to be on the itinerary, no question. Fortunately, we were among the first guests to line up & were seated promptly. The vibe was nice & the staff were quite friendly. Now, the food. Damn it, everything was delicious. My girlfriend devoured those pancakes, the syrniki. They tasted divine. I had the latke smorgasbord & it had the perfect ratio of latke, smoked salmon, challah, eggs, & salad. 10/10 dish. We also ordered the beef bacon & the grilled salami, DELICIOUS! They were also very kind, they accidentally gave us two pickles when we asked for 1 & didn't charge us for the additional one. Very thoughtful. Food did take a bit of time to come out, but it's understandable since it was a full house. I urge everyone reading this to go to Arthur's, nothing else compares.
