Angéline is a lovely little restaurant, & the atmosphere is very well established with a nice, cozy decor & ambiant lighting. The service is always good. The food is good, but I'm afraid it's nothing special... Italian fare is not difficult to master, & they've done fine with it, but their cuisine doesn't stand out much, I'm afraid.
I'm tempted to give the restaurant a 3 star review, however, due to their prices. For what you receive, the prices are simply absurd. I realize that prices have gone up exponentially everywhere, but there are still a handful of places that I'd consider affordable. Angéline's are tremendously exaggerated. Drink prices are crazy. A caesar salad costs $30... Pasta costs next to nothing, & yet the individual dishes are $30+ for the most part. I realize many restaurants don't make a profit, but I guarantee Angéline's is doing quite well. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be returning much in the future because of this, which I find is unfortunate since I do enjoy this restaurant very much... Just not quite THAT much.
One last comment... The only negative aspect of the atmosphere is the music. When we first arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday, it was quiet & didn't bother us, but about halfway through our meal, the volume was suddenly turned up to an unpleasant level. We heard Megan Trainor & Cardi B playing. Why not play some nice instrumental Italian music instead? It would fit so much more with the ambiance than obnoxious, loud pop music.
We came on a week day at around 3pm it was very quiet & nicely decorated for the winter holidays. The gluten free options were ample but the gluten free menu was only in French. The waitress offered to help with translation. The main courses were delicious we got two different gluten free pastas which were excellent. The appetizer was okay. Delicious spot with lots of options for gluten free
Appreciate the inclusion of gluten free pasta in your menu. We really enjoyed the atmosphere :)
This is the worst Italian food I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. We went here once before, & the food was fine - good enough for a second try- but this time it made us decide to never go back.
I had the pasta with basil pesto & sun-dried tomato pesto. The pasta was oddly sweet & the chicken that came with it was ridiculously salty. None of the flavors worked together.
The ambience inside is cute, but it was ruined by the blaring music of what seemed to be a 90s hit playlist. So odd for an Italian themed interior. To top it off, our water came in plastic promotional beer glasses. Not what you would expect when each entrée is about $30.
The servers seemed overwhelmed with the amount of people. They were nice enough, but there were just not enough servers to go around to give service. My plastic water glass was empty halfway through & I never got any more water.
If you think of going to this restaurant, go right up to it, turn around 180° & go to LePot. The food & a better there.
Great spot in Trois-Rivières! The calamari was perfectly crispy & flavorful, the pizza had a nice chewy crust, & the Alfredo pasta was creamy & delicious. Definitely worth a visit!
Nice patio on Main Street. The pasta was good, but the green salad was disappointing. Basically a bunch of chopped lettuce with a couple tomatoes & minimal dressing for $20. The value of the food for the price overall was not there for me. I expected more quality.
A Delightful Dining Experience at Angeline My recent visit to Angeline was an absolute delight, exceeding expectations in every aspect-food, service, & ambience. From the moment we walked in, the vintage Italian decor transported us to a charming trattoria in the heart of Italy. The warm, inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable evening. We started our meal with the crispy shrimp, a perfect appetizer. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, with a golden, crunchy exterior that gave way to tender, juicy shrimp inside. The balance of flavors was impeccable, with a hint of spice that enhanced the overall taste without overpowering it. For the main course, we indulged in two dishes: the classic Alfredo pasta & the Venezia pizza. The Alfredo pasta was rich & creamy, with a sauce that clung beautifully to the perfectly cooked fettuccine. Each bite was a luxurious experience, showcasing the chef's mastery of this beloved dish. The Venezia pizza was a revelation. The combination of fresh ingredients & expertly crafted pasta created a dish that was both flavorful & satisfying. The light, yet flavorful sauce complemented the pasta wonderfully, making it a standout on the menu. The service at Angeline was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Their recommendations were spot on, & their enthusiasm for the menu added to our enjoyment of the meal. The ambience of the restaurant, with its vintage Italian look, was the perfect blend of cozy & elegant. Soft lighting, tasteful decor, & comfortable seating created an environment that was both relaxing & refined, making it an ideal spot for both casual dinners & special occasions. Overall, Angeline provided a dining experience that was nothing short of exceptional. With fantastic food, top-notch service, & a charming atmosphere, it's a place I'll gladly return to & highly recommend to anyone looking for an outstanding Italian meal.
Amazing Italian restaurant. My partner said the home made cabanera pasta was delicious. I got a gluten free pasta with chicken, basil & ricotta that was incredible. The service was spectacular & I loved the decor. It felt like a mix between an Italian courtyard & an Italian living room. Great spot!
The Bruschetta was hopeless. Totally waste of money. Even worse than we make at home. Everything was falling down from the bread. In the name of Bruschetta just kept raw tomatoes on top of the bread slice & put a little cheese. Rest pasta & pizza were excellent. Please remove Bruschetta from your menu it is not even worth t2dollars & you charged 11 dollars for the same.
