It was a gastronomic experience that exceeded my expectations. A delightful exploration of flavors, visually pleasing thanks to the dishes and the beautifully arranged tableware for each course. The variety of dishes was remarkable, a fusion of Vietnamese and Japanese cuisines: seafood, fish, meat, vegetables, and the sauces and dressings...wow! Very well composed. The chef explained her creations to us, and the service was impeccable. The restaurant is well laid out. The price is very reasonable. I will definitely return.

ordered take out, chicken chow mein and beef broccoli not cooked, spare ribs were all grisell, we paid 55 for two and we didnt get to eat :(... worse than that went back to explain what happened, and the owner said nothing she can do about it, not even offer some kind of compensation... DO NOT RECOMMEND

Gorgeous Sweet Potato & Curry soup starter followed by scrumptious Salmon Tartar. Met the Chef who shared the recipe for the soup, so good. Highly recommend.
Our group experienced a remarkably pleasant time at the location. The meals provided were quite delicious, and the folks were exceedingly polite. The staff members were very friendly to us. Looked at as a whole, it was a wonderful encounter, presenting fine benchmarks at very fair rates.
Beautiful smile and very delicious Rockaberry food^^
Best pies ever. The grilled chicken sandwich, chicken dry. I guess this place is better for dessert. The strawberry shortcake 😋 yummy.
40 West is a beautiful steakhouse. As you pull up in the parking lot, you immediately sense that you are in for a rich experience before you even step in the door. The building itself is adorned with massive windows and the entrance is flanked by massive pillars giving it the feel of a Greek coliseum. Upon entering you are greeted by large brick archways that lead to the different seating areas of the restaurant. My party had a reservation for 8 and we were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival. It's always nice to not have to wait when you have a reservation. Our table was clean and nicely set. Our waiter, whom I neglected to get his name was prompt, professional and informative. Drink service was quick and bread brought to the table quickly. For starters, I ordered the tuna tartar. I was served a healthy portion with two croquettes and some string potatoes that were extremely thin and crusted. The whole dish was very good, however the tuna has slightly to much sesame oil mixed in but still tasted good and was fresh. Paired with the croquettes and the salty string potatoes produce a wonderful little bite, that has some kick to it as well. For the main I elected to have an 8 ounce filter mignon and for my side I added the truffle Mac and Cheese. The steak arrived perfectly cooked to a medium rare, seared, salted and peppered. Extremely tender and tasty. Clearly a very high quality cut of beef. The truffle Mac and cheese was excellent served with little sea shell noodles that were perfectly el dente. Very creamy sauce with a hint of tomatoes and the truffle oil was the perfect level. The service was good through out with our plates being cleared quickly and our table kept clean from crumbs. Our waiter was attentive throughout without being over bearing. If you appreciate a fine dining experience and enjoy high quality steak houses you will not be disappointed with 40 West. The ambience is great with just the right amount of light and music is in the background and not blasting in your ears and you can enjoy conversation throughout your meal. This was a great place for our party but would be perfect for a date night as well with several 2 seat tables available. Great food, great service and a great night out!
Another Montreal institution down the tubes. Ridiculous prices for average food and unfriendly service. No need to ever go back
We went for lunch, to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had the best meal I've had in a while. Halibut with lemon creamy pasta. He had the pepper steak, we both had the wedge salad with Caesar dressing. Dessert was dulce de leche cheesecake. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, and had fantastic service from Natasha.
Great experience at Gibbys. I highly recommend the Gibbys salad. Only thing was my steak was done a little rare for medium, which I did notify the server of and they brought it back to cook more. The lemon sorbet is a nice touch after the salads. It is pricey but you will leave stuffed. I got the filet minion. The drinks were good.
Hands down the best steak I have had ever! Our server Carolyn was amazing and answered all questions we had. This is our first time in Canada and she was super helpful translating as well! 10/10
What a great restaurant!! Loved the authentic atmosphere. Service was unbelievable and the food quality the best I've had in a long time!
?Gibbys is hands-down the best steakhouse I have ever been to. The setting in Old Montreal is incredibly cool-the building is actually an old converted horse stable, which gives it an amazing, historic atmosphere. ?The food was spectacular, but what truly blew us away was the service. Our server was absolutely phenomenal and clearly a seasoned pro. Their attention to detail, ability to anticipate our every need, and incredible memory when it came to managing the table and clearing dishes was top-tier. ?The staff went above and beyond to make our night special. We had to move our table slightly over, and due to that tiny inconvenience, they completely surprised us by treating us to sorbet with brandy. It was such a class-act move. ?Gibbys is an absolute must-visit if you are in Montreal. I will definitely be back!
Gibby's Steakhouse is a super cute restaurant that fits perfectly with the Old Montreal vibe. Service was welcoming and attentive throughout our meal. My mom and I both ordered the fixed-price lunch menu. For appetizers, I had the beef tartare and she had the French onion soup, both were delicious, but portions were generous and we couldn't quite finish them since we wanted to save room for the rest of the meal. We were also served a lemon sorbet in between courses, which was a nice palate cleanser. For entrées, I had the Diane steak and my mom had the Youville rack of lamb. Both were cooked perfectly to our tastes and were very flavorful. The only minor downside was that the vegetable portion felt quite small, just a few pieces of asparagus and a small pepper. For dessert, we both had the chocolate cake of the day. It was a bit dry, but still enjoyable overall. Overall, a very nice dining experience with great service and well-prepared food.
The food is very good also perfect price. However the service has lots of issues, one of the server keep treating us rude and in a rush while the restaurant is way far from closing and not crowded. Including urging to collect our appetizer dishes while we are obviously not finished, the reason is'main dish is coming' while after collected it still takes 5-10 mins for main dish to come (so what's the point for rushing). At the same time trying to teach us'how to correctly use a bread plate', I appreciate the effort but honestly it's unprofessional and inappropriate. If the server is so stick to the dining etiquette, at least he should change the cutlery and plate between courses then teach us. It feels totally rushed as there's obviously plenty of time, however it seems only happens on us because the other table was treated normally, so we suspect this is due to racism. Not a happy experience with this kind of service, especially server should not put racism on the customers. I saw other comments also mentioning racist move towards Asian customers, if you are Asian, please avoid this restaurant for its disgusting service.
i went to order some pizza from this place a few days ago and honestly we was pretty disappointed.. the staff working there is polite enough, but the food quality is just not there. the crust was super soggy and they barely put any sauce on the pizza, so the whole thing tasted really bland and dry. also, they took forever to get our order ready even though the place wasnt even busy. it is a cheap option, but the flavor leaves a lot to be desired
Our group had a thoroughly great time participating in the event. The culinary options were genuinely delicious, and the people were so sweet. The employees maintained a highly friendly demeanor. It was a beautiful occasion overall, delivering fine quality along with highly practical pricing.
Stayed at the hotel. Ate here 3 out of 5 nights, over the Grand Prix weekend. Food is fantastic, service is great the staff are brilliant. One night clashed with the play off hockey so it was loud and busy. So was a bit of a wait. Quesadillas starter are lovely 🤤 and a serving can be shared.
Great atmosphere, I appreciated that the music was not too loud. Amazing tacos! Friendly bartenders, nice drink selection.
5 star is not enough for this place . Iv been coming here for years . Elite chicken and fries bbq sauce ! Go habs go also i forgot best coslaw in montreal hands down
I've been a patron of this location for decades. It was one of the few BBQ spots left that still had quality chicken. Almost every other BBQ chicken you get today is boiled to death and then put on the spit for a few minutes to fake the roasting process. Unfortunately, yet another establishment has fallen victim to this method of preparing BBQ chicken. I ordered a whole chicken today and it came out rubbery, with the containers full of liquid - essentially watered down chicken drippings. The fries, sauce, and coleslaw were as good as ever, hence the 3* review (I would do 2.5 if I could), but the roasted chicken is what we go there for. Very sad, I'll definitely miss this place.
Arrived at this restaurant for dinner with three friends and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The waiter was extremely pushy and constantly tried to upsell us more food. One of our friend's plates was taken away before they had even finished eating, which felt very disrespectful and rushed. We initially ordered lamb chops, pasta, and steak. When another friend arrived about 10 minutes later, the waiter immediately pushed her to order another lamb chop dish. The lamb chops arrived first, but we then waited over 1 hour and 20 minutes for the steak and pasta to arrive. In total, we spent around 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting for the full order, despite the restaurant not even being busy. When we brought up the concern, the manager downplayed the situation instead of taking responsibility. He responded by asking,'Do you need more food?' clearly trying to avoid addressing the issue properly. To make matters worse, the restaurant was extremely cold with no proper heating, and we were freezing while waiting for the food. Overall, very poor service, poor timing, and an unpleasant dining experience.
